Hi,
- Can I see the COFF Format physically ?
- If It is 'YES', How Can I ?
Thankx in advance

What do you mean by seeing the format physically?
Is it a file in the format that you want to view?
As the file contains executable code, it really doesn't have any visual representation. How would you wish to view it?

The best tool for viewing COFF format data is dumpbin . Run it from the Visual Studio command prompt - newer versions will give more information.

Dear Friends
I migrated my project to .net 2005 which was in .net 2003(windows application using C# language)
When I run the solution the forms and the controls are as if it is still in .net2003
then I opened the files(all) and changed the versions from 1.0,1.3,etc to 2.0
till then I did not got the .net 2005 control appearance.
What should I do.
Please reply soon...
My mail Id is rabindrapatra@gmail.com

I beleive that is pretty much what you can get by migration.
Migration only makes your VS2003 project work on VS2005 compiler. It does not modify your source code, which means it doesn't remove obsolete calls or add new calls. It does not automatically upgrade to new GUI features that do not exist in the old IDE. You have to redesign the GUI to get the new features. Approximately, you could consider that the migration only happens at the level of project settings.

Jun

Hi All,
I'm accessing a COM object from my .NET application, but I keep on getting the following exception:
"COM object that has been separated from its underlying RCW can not be used"
Does anyone know how this exception can come about?
I'd appreciate any thoughts, thanks.

Hi,
- Normally, 'Unmanaged COM' can be called in .NET through RCW(Runtime Callable Wrapper), So the COM which U have used is not supported by the .NET RCW.
- May I now the COM Name, Is It Created By U / Not, In which application the COM Created.

The only links I can find are referring to ASP.NET, and basically I think it's that the original thread on which an STA object was created has exited, thereby effectively killing the object. When you try to use it the wrapper cannot marshal the object call and generates the exception.

Thanks for your help guys,
Sorry S Pandian, I should've been clearer - I am actually able to use the COM object fine, only when I tried accessing it in another thread did I have this problem.
Mike, I think you hit the nail on the head! I was creating the object in another thread, and then trying to access it later on, once that thread had exited. But without using another thread, everything works fine.
Cheers guys,
Shehzad

Hi.
I would like to make a .NET page that is only a script. The page is connected to via a http: where the first part is the address to the page – say: Http://biglogger/gamelogger.aspx... The following parts of this http would be info about userid, sessionID gameresults etc lets say: Http://biglogger/gamelogger.aspx?game=2345we&userid=ABC4&session=345 whatever..
I simply want to have such a page that stores the full http string in a SQL DB. The end goal is to store game results for all the different gameplays by making the game send a http request with the data to my page when the game is over! The game is played all around the world and the programmers will at gameover send the http request to my site and I will then store the results for analysis.
Any suggestions to how this is done most efficiently?? Hope to hear from all you brilliant people out there – this (I’ve been told should be easy??) Best regards from Erik (Denmark)

Hello!
I built my first simple CLR program. On "OK" button clic it displays MessageBox. Can anybody tell me how to do so that I activate Child dialog-based window by clicking "OK" on a Main dialog-based form. I want the Child form to be Properities window so it has to send some "settings" to the Main window. What code should I put to my program to call a dialog-based window in another.
PS. If You be so nice and tell me also how to do this in MFC apps.

First, from you described, this can be done with or without using MDI. Windows (parent/child) relationship is all you need to handle. I assume you know what MDI and MFC are.
Communications between windows can be done in a number of ways. For your first attempt, assign the main window to be the parent of your Property window. Before closing Property window, call its parent and pass all the data to the main window. On the main window, add code to handle Get/Set property so that the child window can call.
Hope this is helpful.
Best,
Jun

Thank You for your reply!
Yes... I know what MFC and MDI are. Beceause I'm begining to work with Visual C++ and it will be best if you pass me this all knowledge in a "dumb-resistant" way... a mean source codes...

Hi,
Can anyone confirm if .NET Programmabilty support is possible with both Microsoft Office 2003 Standard and Professional versions?
So far I have only been using the Professional version but want to confirm my code would also work with the standard version - as my customer is looking to buy a number of licenses.
Also does anyone also know whether any seller offers discounts on purchases over a certain number (my initial searching suggests not - unless they are second hand...)
Thanks Andrew

Programmability should be available in all versions and only limited by the features of that version.
Tekgia.com is one of the cheapest places I have found for many software products and licenses.

A co-workers machine doesn't fire the Default Asp.Net error message, instead he goes to a search engine page when he gets an error. I thought maybe it was a permissions issue but he can debug - he just doesn't get that page, or any detailed info about his errors.
Can any one point me in the right direction to fix this?
Thanks!
