You can't use Ghostscript/Postscript in your VB.NET code. There is no component in the standard toolbox that understands those languages either. You'll need a 3rd party component that can render this stuff for you. I, unfortunately, don't know of any myself. You might want to try Googling for it.

Two ways to do it.
Purchase a third party libary.
use word to do it, this is a huge pain to do (not recommended really, it can be rather tedious).
I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

Hello Sinchan,
ComponentOne has the VSSpell 8 control, which is an ActiveX control designed for use in VB6. It has both dictionary and thesaurus functionality, and has a utility to allow you to edit the existing or create new dictionaries and thesauruses. For more information, please visit http://www.componentone.com/products.aspx?TabTypeID=1&ItemType=1&PanelIndex=16&ItemID=54015&SubCategoryTypeID=0&TabMapID=92&TabID=111[^]. If you think that you may be interested, you can download a fully functional trial. The trial will have a sample application to show you how to use the control to spell check a textbox, among other text sources.

Hi All, I am new to VB.net and I am struggling with small function I need to write. Basically this function must get results from two different datareaders, Oledb and SQL and compare the results.
Is using a datareader the right way of going about a comparison between two recordsets, or is there a better way. Basically I need to compare the results of the two recordsets and the differences must be noted in a file.
Any help will be appreciated.
Regards
Scorn.

Hi
You can go for Datasets, which is much easier to loop (as you can forward / rewind the dataset) you cannot do this in a datareader.
All the Best!

Hi Kanniah,
I am going to try Dave's solution first as I would like to save on resources. Should I not get it right I will try your solution.
Thanks for the reply.

You can do this with DataReaders. They'll be faster and more memory efficient than loading entire sets of data. They also offer the flexibility of looking at millions of records without loading them all into RAM.
After that, you just compare record for record, incrementing each DataReader to compare then next records.

Hi Dave,
I need to pick your brain some more please. I have managed to get right what I wanted to do, however I would like to know if this is the correct way of doing it, or if there is a different way. Once again is this code resource effiecient?
<br />
Public Function fnCheckClientMasterRecords() As Boolean<br />
<br />
Dim dbrAsiClients As SqlDataReader<br />
Dim dbrXpressClients As OleDbDataReader<br />
<br />
'Two functions that return the records that I need to compare and populates my new datareaders<br />
dbrAsiClients = fnGetAllASIClients()<br />
dbrXpressClients = fnGetAllXpressClients()<br />
<br />
<br />
While Not dbrAsiClients.Read = False<br />
While Not dbrXpressClients.Read = False<br />
If Not Left(dbrAsiClients.GetValue(0).ToString(), 6) = Left(dbrXpressClients.GetValue(0).ToString(), 6) Then<br />
MessageBox.Show(Left(dbrAsiClients.GetValue(0).ToString(), 6) & " - " & Left(dbrXpressClients.GetValue(0).ToString(), 6))<br />
Else<br />
'Yes code here<br />
End If<br />
End While<br />
<br />
'Do I have to close the reader here everytime I Have looped through it and re-populate it.<br />
dbrXpressClients.Close()<br />
dbrXpressClients = fnGetAllXpressClients()<br />
<br />
End While<br />
End Function<br />
Your input will be appreciated.
Kind Regards

If your comparing every record side-by-side against a corresponding record in the second dataset then you don't use two while loops. You use one.
If your comparing every record in the first table with every other record in the second table, then this works. And yes, you have to reload the DataReader for each pass, since they a forward-only readers. You can't move the cursors in them backwards.

Hi,
I am currently in need of an article or the steps required for creating a UFL that I can then use within my crystal report. I have no idea how to do this, and after reading a few articles online, they require me to create a new project, win32 dynamic link library project, but I cannot find anything close to that unless I go into the MFC projects. Could someone point me to a good article or give me a walkthrough on how to create this project? thank you.
PS
I am using visual studio 2003.. standard?

Here's my question
I know how to create controls and add them to the winform at runtime.
While I hope I can save added controls somewhere on the disk, so next time the users open the winform, the added controls will be there.
Thanks.

Hi
You have to store the information somewhere in the database/textfile from where you can load the controls when the user wants at a later stage. The information to be stored are Control Type, Left, Top, Width and Height, so that you can recreate the controls and set these properties.
Hope this helps you.

Thank you so much, this does help me.
but I got a further question about this.
I am doing a project pretty much like the photoshop (but much simpler and easier).
Users can add and edit controls on a winform.
I was trying to save the users added controls in a txt file by saving a string
object.gettype.tostring. e.g: "System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox"
while when trying to Retrive the information, How can I create this object back?
I can do the following:
if string = "System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox" then
dim a as new picturebox
end if
Are there other ways of doing this?
Thanks

I need to know if exists a control o method that can i clear the texboxes in a form. for example i have texbox1,texbox2,texbox3,texbox4 but only want to clear de textboxes 1 and 4, i looking for a control or method no the manually form. if some body know a cotrol plis send me a email to magno.vasquez@gmail.com

There's no method to do it for you. You have to clear the TextBox's yourself.
TextBox1.Text = String.Empty
TextBox4.Text = String.Empty

I have an application is running on a local LAN. I need to create a service that other users on the LAN can send XML data to, have it process it, and return back an XML recordset. It will need to be able to queue requests from multiple clients.
I am looking for some ideas on where to get started.
The clients will all be authenicated via Windows.
They all will be connected directly via LAN.
VB.NET is my preferred development language (have both 2003 and 2005)
Thanks for your time.
