if i store information in a hidden label or textbox the javascript cannot see it, is there a way i can save it on the page so the javascript will see it?

Is it possible to parse an HTML/aspx file and extract only the body without having to go through the entire file line by line? And then copy those contents into the body of another aspx file. The file to be parsed will be present in the same server.
Any sort of help would be appreciated.

Using Visual Web Developer Express and ASP.net 2.0, I have an aspx page with a gridview showing all records from a dataset (from a SQL-server table connected via. ODBC). On the same page is a detailsview control showing details of a single record in the same dataset as the gridview above.
When I display the page in browser (while still in design mode) the page displays fine. I add a new row by clicking the "New" link on the detailsview control, enter data in all fields (except the auto-incremented pk field, which is not displayed), press "Insert" to commit, and get error message...
"ERROR [23000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'Categories' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF." The identity column in question is the primary key field iCategoryId, it starts at 1 and increments by 1 for each new row.
How can I set IDENTITY_INSERT to ON? As far as I can see, it is on already, because if I add rows manually (eg. via. enterprise manager), there is no problem with the primary-key field autoincrementing.
It makes no difference if I remove the gridview from the form.
Has anyone any ideas how to solve this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Question is about setting up of the web.config:
I Create a very basic web app that just shows the date and time. On my pc it works, however when I load it up to the server and I try to access it I get an error. I have set the web.config so as to show me the error, however it still does not show the error.
The server I am referring to is Tollon.uk. What are the general settings that a server like this could require.

I work on a functionality that browses the Contacts in a Outlook account on an Exchange Server. There no problem to find the fields to retrieve in the Exchange schemas for the name, email, ... and there is a Category field, in Outlook, that allows you to sort the contacts. I'd like to use this to order my result query, but I didn't find the field schema. Does anyone know how access to this field and if this information is stored in Exchange ??

You can't.
There is no way that you can send a response from the server to the client without the client first sending a request. If you need the pages to update, you have to poll for changes from the client.
One way is to simply reaload the page at a certain interval. Example that reloads the page every ten seconds:
If you don't want to reload the page that way, you could use AJAX to ask the server if there are any changes, and reload when there are.

How do i access the dropdownlist inside the GridView from the Page_Load event
I have the Grid View like this

I created a template field column inside this gridview and inserted a dropdownlist in it using

I am not sure but i have seen that you have access that gridview cell first and then use Fincotrol method
like
Gridview1.Rows[0].cells[0].findControl("DropDownList1")
etc.

Hi everybody,
I was given a job of developing a function which accepts 3 parameters i.e., an assembly path, a class with namespace, and a method in that assembly. the function should return the value that is being returned by the method that iam invoking(the one which we passed as a parameter)
iam using system.reflection namespace.
The problem is, i also need to pass arguements to the method that iam invoking but it is just not working the i way i want. this is how iam calling my function ..
public int myreflect("..the path of the assembly..", "...calss name with namespace..say N.C1..","..method name..say M1..", 2,4) // 2,4 are the arguments iam passing to my method M1//
This is how iam defining my function
public int myreflect(string a, string b, string c, params int[] list)
Everything is working except that i need to somehow extract the arguements which are in the param array i.e., list.
I need to capture those arguments and store them in another array..say int[] args..and use this args in Invokemember function, as parameters to invoke my M1 method. I hope I have done a fair job in explaining my problem. A little help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

You could copy all the elements in the array:
int[] args = new int[list.Length];
Array.Copy(list, args, list.Length);
Or you could just copy the reference to the array:
int[] args = list;
Or why not just use the list array?

Hello, I've a question about URL Authorization and may be you can help me. I've a site with some users that could create folders in a site and upload files to that folders, and this user could create other users with lower rights (only see some folders that the user who create it could define). For example:
UserA -> create folderA, folderB and folderC
UserA -> create UserB -> with rigths on folderB
UserA -> create UserC -> with rigths on folderC
So for example UserB could not access to folderA and folderC.
I'm using winform authenticaton. This users are dynamic created. I want to create this folder and files authorization. I thought in URL Authorization using <location> in the web.config, but I don't know if I could do that throw programming.
Any ideas of how to resolve this issue?

Use the RegisterStartupScript method to add Javascript to the page from code behind.
In framework 1.x Page.RegisterStartupScript, in framework 2.x Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupSript.

u can call any javascript function from ur code behind i.e vb.net or c# using
Page.RegisterStartupScript("clientScript", ScriptText) method
even u can write ur javascript code for alert using Page.RegisterStartupScript()
like
Page.RegisterStartupScript("clientScript", "function('abc');")
or
Page.RegisterStartupScript("clientScript", "var str; str = 'abc'; alert(str);")
