You can learn how to program and then you will know how. Or you can search for a open-source program that does that and use that code.
You are asking for a full working code here. Well that costs money soo if you have the money send me an email and we can talk

Thats not the polite way of talking......i'm not asking for complete code, & if i'm whats wrong in it, 100s of people here asks for even more difficult things & complete code.
If i have money then why i come to this forum to make my programs? Its common-sense.
If u don't want to help me, why are you just replying with that type of dead posts.

I am just tryng to point you in the right direction.
If you would like to learn how to program, then asking for code is the wrong way. Get a book, read it and write your own code.
If you don't want to learn how to program pay somebody to do the job for you.
It is as simple as that. And I know other people are asking for code too, but I don't have the time to reply to all those messages. And if I remember correctly I have told you where you can get that code for free.

Sorry! You didn't tell me where i can get such code, tell me.
Tell me why TUTORIALS are developed? They are step-by-step learning tool describing even small things. If you don't want to give me complete code, then give me idea, logic of doing that......i know how to rename files in VB.NET but don't know how to do that ^ type of renaming.
OR
Tell me how can i go through each letter in file name (string) & how to detect spaces between words, so i can UPPERCASE or lowercase them.
|
|
|
|
|
strings in vb have
substring
split methods. use filedirectory if needed to get hold of file names.

I am not sure of my users version of excel, but it will be version 10 or later so I have begun writing a late-binding app that starts excel and opens the workbook but not much else.

Is it possible to make a simple white bar that is see-through and has a smooth alpha-blended shadow? This is my goal: http://www.osx-e.com/screenshots/06_47_50_RealDock.jpg
I have a PNG image that is transparent. I imported it in my VB.net project, I set the background and transparent key to the same value, but I only get very ugly shadows. They are not alpha-blended at all. Have you tried making a glass-like image in .NET?
|
|
|
|
|
I generally build transparent GIFs; I originally build the icon as an image file in Freehand and then export the file as a gif and reopen it in Fireworks. From there I set up the transparency and save the gif. I have tried other image formats including PNG when I needed the effect and they always look bad; I have never had the problem with transparent GIFs. Also, if the image has a drop shadow, that usually will not work unless it was drawn on a surface with the exact same back color and the target location in the web page.
|
|
|
|
|
The biggest problem is the shadows. I want them to look smooth independent of what surface they are drawn on. I think the solution is PNG because it supports more than 1 transparency key. But I don't know how advantage transparent PNG images in VB? How to make their multi-color transparency key work?
|
|
|
|
|
if you have adobe photoshop, i'm sure you can design in image in there or in something like axialis icon workshop, that will get the right effect. It's just a matter of learning how to get it right.

Put two Buttons on your form named btnBlendShapes and btnDrawImages respectively. Add a picturebox, named pic. Type this :
Import this
Imports System.Drawing.Imaging
Then,
Private Sub btnBlendShapes_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnBlendShapes.Click
'alpha numbers has to be between values 0 and 255.
'alpha 0 is fully transparent while alpha 255 is fully opaque
'of course, change any of the alpha values below depending on which color you want to be more or
'less transparent or opaque
'the first apha value to be fully visible
Dim alphaValue As Integer = 255
'the second alpha value will have some transparency
Dim alphaValue2 As Integer = 155
'create 2 brushes. 1 brush with the first alpha value and the second brush using the 2nd alpha
'value
Dim aBrush As SolidBrush = New SolidBrush(Color.FromArgb(alphaValue, Color.Fuchsia))
Dim aBrush2 As SolidBrush = New SolidBrush(Color.FromArgb(alphaValue2, Color.Goldenrod))
'draw 2 rectangles, 1 with the first brush and the other rectangle using the 2nd brush
pic.CreateGraphics.FillRectangle(aBrush, 0, 0, 100, 100)
pic.CreateGraphics.FillRectangle(aBrush2, 50, 50, 100, 100)
End Sub
Private Sub btnDrawImages_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDrawImages.Click
'the 2 images to use for the alpha blend. you may have to change the image paths to where the
'images are on your computer.
Dim imagePath As String = "AW-9TriplePan2.gif"
Dim imagePath2 As String = "AW-9TriplePan2.gif"
'create 2 new images with the above filenames
Dim img As Image = Image.FromFile(imagePath)
Dim img2 As Image = Image.FromFile(imagePath2)
'create 2 new ojects to use the ImageAttrubute class and the ColorMatrix Class
Dim i As ImageAttributes = New ImageAttributes
Dim c As ColorMatrix = New ColorMatrix
'draw both images onto the picturebox control. the first image will not have any changes made to
'any of its attributes.
pic.CreateGraphics.DrawImage(img, 0, 0, 200, 150)
'with matrix33 you can adjust the images alpha value
'values I think are to be between 0 and 1. Ex: .3, .25, or .5 ect....
c.Matrix33 = 0.45
i.SetColorMatrix(c)
'this 2nd image will have its maxtrix33 element modified to make the image appear more
'transparent. Remember the matrix33 element controls the images Alpha value.
pic.CreateGraphics.DrawImage(img2, New Rectangle(50, 50, 200, 150), 0, 0, img2.Width, _
img2.Height, GraphicsUnit.Pixel, i)
End Sub
Private Sub pic_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles pic.Click
'will redraw the picturebox and clear the rectangles and images that were drawn
pic.Refresh()
End Sub
And that's alphablending!

VB.NET against an Access database
This program is likely to be run very rarely, but for testing I'm running it several times a day. What I want to do is:
1. clear Table1
2. load Table1 with data
Since I'm doing this so often, I would rather generate my own Primary Key values and load them myself.
<br />
Dim drTable1 As DataRow = _<br />
dsTable1.Tables("Table1").NewRow<br />
intKeyValue += 1 '----defined as Integer<br />
'-----RecKey is defined as the PrimaryKey, longinteger<br />
drTable1.Item("RecKey") = intKeyValue<br />
drTable1.Item("Data1") = "somestring"<br />
drTable1.Item("Data2") = "otherstring"<br />
dsTable1.Tables("Table1").Rows.Add(drTable1)<br />
daTable1.Update(dsTable1, "Table1")<br />
What's happening is that the first record is created ok, but with a keyvalue of zero. The next record gets rejected because it also contains a keyvalue of zero.
But the first DataRow that I've created contains a keyvalue of "1" and the second with a keyvalue of "2".
Question: why is the DataTable entry getting created with a keyvalue of zero, instead of the value I placed in the DataRow?
I can't find in the Knowledge Base where it addresses the question of where Access stores the most recent primary key value and how that is manipulated by the system and/or my program.
If I set the PrimaryKey to autonumber and let the system take care of things, it works just fine...but generates numbers that are getting very large. Sure, this is not a major problem; but I would really like to know why I can't create my own key values.
Meanwhile,
"How to use Microsoft Visual Basic .NET to connect to a Microsoft Access database and to retrieve data"
Article ID:821765 Last Review:September 13, 2005
Looks exactly like what I've been doing.
<br />
Dim i, sno As Integer<br />
Dim sname As String<br />
Dim rw As DataRow<br />
'Add a new row to the Student table.<br />
rw = DataSet11.Tables(0).NewRow<br />
sno = InputBox("Enter the Roll no of the Student:")<br />
sname = InputBox("Enter the Name of the Student:")<br />
rw.Item("SNo") = sno<br />
rw.Item("SName") = sname<br />
Try<br />
DataSet11.Tables(0).Rows.Add(rw)<br />
'Update the Student table in the testdb database.<br />
i = OleDbDataAdapter1.Update(DataSet11)<br />
Catch ex As Exception<br />
MessageBox.Show(ex.Message)<br />
End Try<br />
'Displays number of rows updated. <br />
MessageBox.Show("no of rows updated=" & i)<br />
I must be missing something obvious. Can anyone see what it is?

One day later, I try the whole thing again, and it works perfectly. I'm verifying that, when all else fails in VB.net, shut down, reboot/restart, and try again. This is not the first time I had to get out and back in for something to work properly.

I have an application that uses 2 Templates. Template 1 is a Dynamic template where the data is contantly changing. Template 2 is a static template which is bascially a continuation sheet of very static data. There are occasions where template 2 could over flow to a 3, 4, or more pages.
The templates have bookmarks on them and the application fills in the data using the bookmarks to create a final document.
Right now the program will open the first template and fill it out...then open the second template and fill it out....works great. I even have it looping through the second template and creating new documents from the template as needed. The end result is I have multiple open documents. I would like to end up with one document that uses template 1 as the first page and template 2 for any subsequent pages. Is this possible???
