Hello
I would like to have TAGS option,(i.e : like they have in flickr).
i want then when submiting a document to the aplliction there the user will have to select tags, and i need to have the ability to search documents by tags and to have statisics such as most popular tags and so on.
is there a sample code or some information about how to that ?
thanks

I'd imagine you do this by setting up your database to store tags and link them to a document in your file store.

use ListView instead of listbox so you can diaplay like windows explorer
i can use only checkedlistbox control only

Ohhh you need to customize the control to have two columns , there are a lots of custom controls on this site you have to search for it

i am in need of a Remote database connection coding in vb.net 2003. Can Anybody help.When i tried the given coding i got error.
"Provider=sqloledb; Data Source=190.190.200.100,1433;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;Initial Catalog=pubs; User ID=sa; Password=asdasd;"
Error.
(An unhandled exception of type "System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException" Occured in System.Data.dll
I tried with spaces removed in between(Like "UserID=sa;").But code gave the same error. So that doesnt effect much.
Please try to tell me how to connect to a remote database.
I am guessing 190.190.200.100 is the ip address and 1433 this is the port number the format should be 190.190.200.100:433
But the server address or ip is just as i gave.
Can you post the code you are using please?

Imports System.Data
Imports System.Data.SqlClient
Public Class Form1
Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form
Private Sub btn1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btn1.Click
Dim conn As New Odbc.OdbcConnection("Provider=MSDASQL.1;Persist Security Info=False;User ID=sa;Extended Properties=DSN=11045-flo1;UID=sa;DATABASE=callcenter11;Network Library=dbmssocn;Initial Catalog=callcenter11")
Dim datacmd As New Odbc.OdbcCommand("select fname,lname,phone from customertracking", conn)
conn.Open()
datacmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
Dim dr As Odbc.OdbcDataReader
txt1.Text = dr.Item("fname")
txt2.Text = dr.Item("lname")
txt3.Text = dr.Item("phone")
dr.Close()
End Sub
End Class
This is my complete coding in vb.net 2003.

Is there any particular reason you are using an OdbcConnection to connect to a SQL Server? Why not use the more specific SqlConnection?
Can you modify my code to use with sqlconnections

how can i put a progress bar to know progress of database update process
You may be able to with SQL Server 2005, which allows .NET code in stored procs, for example, but if you're doing a single SQL call, I doubt it's possible, you're just not going to get any sort of callback. And if you have a command that does a large update, and you can break it up into little statements, doing so will greatly slow down the process.

Thanks
i'm using Informix
da.update(dataset,"tablename")
this is the update command
OK, you're not bothing with a proper data layer then ? Certainly, this is an atomic action, there's no room for a progress bar here.

Hi,
I'm trying to connect my VB.net program to scanner. Here i'm using Twain specification to achieve this.
I need to include a file "Twain.h" in my vb.net program.
What is the procedure to do this?
As i'm totally a biginner in .net, elaborated explanation will help me a lot.
Regards,
Member.

You can't. Twain.h is a C++ header file, you can't use it in VB.NET. You'll need to find a .NET TWAIN driver, or write a MC++ wrapper for the one you have.
