Is there anyway of reducing the runtime of the .Net projects that I have done. Currently its taking too muh time.

That's a really vague question. What do you mean by "reducing the runtime", "taking too much time"?? Too much time for what?
The biggest problem with performance is writing inefficient code...

you should have to Modulate your programming style. And In ASP.net you can use This Tag in web.config file <compilation defaultLanguage="vb" debug="false"> when you filnaly uploading other time you can use
<compilation defaultLanguage="vb" debug="true">

I have done a few projects in .Net framework 1.1. I have found that these projects do not run in systems without .Net framework installed. There is always an "initialization error" that comes up. Is there any way of overcoming this. Plese Respond.

No. The Framework is hte runtime library. You can't have a .net application without the .net framework any more than you can have an mfc project with out the mfc runtimes, or a vb project without the vb ones. What you should do is have your installer check for the presence of the framework and tell the user it needs installed. "This app needs the .net framework installed. you don't have it. Click here to download (link to MS download location)". Alternately you could write a very small c/c++ launcher app that tests for hte framework, and spits up an error box if it's missing. IF installed, it luanches your main app.
if you're truely bound and determined to avoid hte framework, there are several expensive products that can compile .net code down into a native win32 app. My understanding is that they're all somewhat quirky as well, so you should start using them early in the dev cycle and test extensively to make sure they're not breaking anything.

Hi,
is there any way to get the sourcecode for the standard controls displayed in the toolbox?

You can use the .NET Reflector to view the source code in any .NET dll or exe. This includes the ones that ship with the framework.

I’m trying an application with ADO and I wish the result of my interrogations be in a dataGrid but I’m struggle with he following problems
1. How to set column width in order to be something like auto-width
2. On click event I have
Object *id_person = dataGrid12->get_Item(dataGrid12->get_CurrentRowIndex(),5);
wich is an ID from one o my sql-tables. On this approach I must have revealed the ID in datagrid. How to do this in other way but when i click on a row of the data grid to get the ID of the entry
3. I have an acces db with birthday’s in date/time, Medium format date, but when I shown them in datagrid they are listed in mm/dd/yyyy format. How to have them in dd/MMM/yyyy format in datagrid?
4. how can I know all possible exception because I wish to thereat them separately

Hi
I have got a solution with several projects. the staring project (an asp.net site) has reference to an other dll (with strong name for GAC and COM+). And this dll has a reference to onther dll...
The references are right in visual, but when I run the program It can't find the assembly's because it looks up a different version of the assembly....
If i check this in the .net configuration utility I can see that the reference is different than in visual studio !!!!????
so in visual I have a reference to a assmbly with version 1.0.xxx.2
But when I open the application in the .net configuration utility and i check the assembly's dependecy, it got another version 1.0.xxx.1 ...
Why does visual show you onther version of the assmbly then the compiled app.
Where's the logic ????

Hi there,
I like to use a .NET form application as a non-interactive (service like) application. I was just wondering if there is an easy way to do it without changing a whole lot of code.
Thanks in advance.

Easiest way, at least in my opinion, would be to start a new Windows Service project and copy in the code you.
only two letters away from being an asset

Check out this article[^]. You could start any program and make it behave like a Windows service.

2 question from a beginner. sorry my english
i'm using vs. net 2003
1. when i change from code view to design view i must wait till 1 minute because my VS is not responding
2. it's possible to do somenthing like this: when i right-click to a word-key like MessageBox and i choose "Go to Definition" i wish to see a window with description , def, samples .
i'm running on a notebook with 1,7GHz Centrino processor.

These questions probably belong in the IDE forum, or perhaps, the C++ one. It doesn't sound like you're using .NET, although it says .NET in your compilers name.
1 - no it shouldn't. It doesn't here.
2 - go to definition goes to where the method/variable is defined. You can run MSDN and search for samples, etc.

Just a clarification. Go to Definition leads you to the definition of the class/method/etc in the Reference. It's not a help page.

You can already do this. LEFT-click on the word once, then hit [F1]. MSDN Help will launch and, in most cases, show the help with description, def, and samples...
