Hello,
I'm accessing a page from a VB app using the XMLHTTP object, I was wondering if using cookies (storing and recieving) works like in internet explorer? Or to make cookies work with this object I need to set special options?
Thanx.
Shahar.

You have to handle the cookies that you get in the responses, and send them back in the requests.

I have a few HTML labels for ASP.NET textboxes
But i want all the labels a set size so the textboxes to thier right all lign up.
Using asp.net text boxes with a set width works in IE7 but not FF.
I then switched to HTML labels with "width" set in CSS which does not seem to work.
This seems like it should be so simple but I cant seem to get anice consitant label width under FF and IE7

I usually use something like this:
<div class="Form">
<div class="Item">
<label for="fldName">Name:</label>
<asp:TextBox id="fldName" runat="server" CssClass="Field" />
</div>
</div>
and the CSS:
.Form .Item { clear: both; }
.Form .Item label { float: left; widh: 100px; }
.Form .Item .Field { float: left; width: 200px; }

Is it possible to select more than one file at a time using the
HTML file browse control?
|
|
|
|

Yes if you create more than one control in the page :->. But it's not possible to select more than one file per control!

Hi there,
I have a problem in passing html form to Javascript. In Javascript I can't get the form as an object.
for example, i wrote the following code,
<html>
<head>
<title>Edit Resources</title>
<script language = "javascript" src="../js/source_resource.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<form action=Resource.php method='post' name="Resources" onsubmit="return validateres(this.Resources);">
<center>
<br>
<br>
<table width="400" height="100" border="0" cellpadding="5">
<tr>
<th colspan="6" align="center" valign="middle" > Edit Resource </th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<table width='100%' height='50%' border='0' align='center' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1' >
<tr>
<td colspan='3' align='center' valign='middle'> </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align='right' valign='middle'><span class='style1'></span></td>
<td colspan='2' align='left'><input type='hidden' name='action' value='add'></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><br> Name</td>
<td><br> <input type='text' name='res_name' value="" </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td> Description</td>
<td> <input type='text' name='res_desc' value=""> </tr>
<tr>
<td> Address </td>
<td> <input type='text' name='res_addr' value=""></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td> Contact Person</B></td>
<td> <input type='text' name='res_con_per' value=""></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td> Contact Number</td>
<td> <input type='text' name='res_con_num' value=""></td>
</tr>
<tr align='center'>
<td colspan='3' valign='middle'>
<label> <br>
<input type='hidden' name='id' value={id}>
<input type="button" name="Submit" value="Cancle" onClick="return canclefrm('Resources', this.bkbtn);">
<input name='Submit' type='submit' value=' Update '>
<input type='hidden' name='action2' value='update'>
</label>
<p> </p></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</center>
</form>
<form name="bkbtn" action=back method="post">
<center><input id="submit1" name="submit1" disabled="disabled" type='submit' class="buttonStyle" value='Back'></center>
<input type='hidden' name='access' value="first"/>
</form>
</body>
</html>
by clicking on cancle button
function canclefrm(frmname, bkbtn)
{
preset = document.frmname;
preset.res_name.value = '';
preset.res_addr.value = '';
preset.res_con_per.value = '';
preset.res_con_num.value = '';
preset.res_desc.value = '';
document.bkbtn.submit1.disabled = false;
}
My problem is: I am not getting any value by using object 'frmnm'. I am getting 'undefined' at time of alerting object.
Please Answer me as soon as possible.
Thank you in Advance...

|
There are many reasons why that doesn't work:
1. You never use any object named "frmnm". You try to access a property in the document object by that name.
2. The parameter that you have specified in the function is not named "frmnm" but "frmname".
3. Even if you did spell it right, you can not specify a property by just using a variable name in it's place.
If you want a reference to the form, why don't you just send the reference when calling the function instead of sending the name of the form?

Thank you for your reply,
Can you give me any example of this ???
|
|
|
|
|
Example:
function postForm(formToPost) {
formToPost.submit();
}
<input type="button" value="Send" 0nclick="postForm(this.form);" />
As they have used a backward method of handling posted code in this message board, certain keywords can not be used. Replace the 0nlick keyword with the obvious existing event.

Hello,
I have a windows application that uses a sql server remote database.
Which is the best method to deploy an application that has to connect to a remote server on an another computer, that is part of the LAN Network.
I have been told that during installation the connection will be setup.
At the moment I am using the sqlclient connection. I have my connection string in the app.config. But when the customer installs that want to be able to browse to the server that they will have to connect to.
Well as I have never deployed, I will never know what is best.
Give you could give a short example, i would be most grateful.
Thanks

i have an application that searches records from a database, sometimes the recors are too many and i want to brake them into individual pages showing a max of 10 records per page. i tried using paging recordset feature from dreamweaver but it does not work well, it repeats records.
Please help me with any code that i can impletemt, here is the connection and query:
Dim Recordset1
Set Recordset1 = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
Dim MM_objConn_STRING
set MM_objConn_STRING=server.CreateObject("ADODB.connection")
MM_objConn_STRING.open = "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;DataSource=datatest\INST1;Database=datatest;uid=user_name;Pwd=password;Network Library=DBMSSOCN;"
Recordset1.ActiveConnection = MM_objConn_STRING
Recordset1.Source = "SELECT idmum,namefirst,namelast,namemiddle FROM tbl_test where namelast like 'smith' "
I am displaying results in a table.
Thank you.

What you really want is to write a stored proc that returns just the page you need.
The way you do this is a nested query. The internal query returns all the records up to the last one you wanted, the outer query returns the records you wanted, using top.

Hi!
Use the following statements to determine how many pages are there. ItemsCount is a variable so you can assign a value to it. It means the pages will show maximum recordNumber for per page. nPageCount tells you how many pages are there according to given ItemsCount.
ObjectRecord.PageSize = ItemsCount
nPageCount = ObjectRecord.PageCount
The other part is to add pages as numbered from 1...to x on bottom of pages. It is easy I beleive you can solve it.

vola Mike!So "Cross Frame scripting" is the key. You know I had a bad time patching up the search key in google.But Google was intelligent enough to understand my poor key and I atlast got the job done . Anyway thanks for the links.. I'm gonna read them one by one. Web programming is interesting too

I'm having real problems getting an ASP.NET project and VSS source control to work on my machine. The folder for the web project isn't under wwwroot, but in the solution folder. VS 2003 cannot see the web project.
Now I think this may be something to do with users, but I can't even imagine how the IUSR etc. accounts work because my Users config is the XP "Idiot" panel, where I only have Admin and Limited users. This may sound dumb, but I've never had to deal with this stuff before.

VS2005 is greatly improved in this regard. Assuming that you've got the virtual directory set up in IIS, however, I can't imagine why VS2003 would fail to open it. How do you mean it 'can't see it'. Aren't you pointing VS2003 to a solution ? The other thing is, if the virtual or actual directory changes, VS2003 can have real issues.

OK, I haven't had any problems with VS2005, but we are constrained to keeping the solution 2003 for now. Let me elaborate on my situation:
I start fresh, never having worked on the solution before. I get the whole solution from SourceSafe. The solution contains many class libraries and one web application. After getting the solution I configure the web application working folder as an IIS virtual folder, with browse and write permissions, all else default.
I then open the solution, and VS 2003 tells me the web project is not available. I then try and remove the project and add it again. I choose "Add existng project from web", and I select the web project URL. Then VS doesn't present allow me to add the project as it maintains it doesn't exist, although I have navigated to its folder. Even if I type the name of the project file directly, it maintains it doen't exist.
I have also tried setting up the web project folder and virtual folder before getting the solution, with exactly the same results. I subjected myself to a complete machine rebuild yesterday and will make another attempt today again.
