Ok, thanks for that though, I'm afraid I can't do much for the next couple of hours as I'm going out to help someone, but after that I'll take a look.

I've got it working! Using my code as I'd spent so long on it!
Basically, it was cycling through at the end of the file trying to read a blank line every time, rather than the closing tag. I'd tried an if statement to break out of the loop, but that never broke out the next one; so adding another break statement cured thr problem. At last!
The only problem is adding that 'messageHeader' node - I can't seem to manage that! It should be simple-ish though, so I will persevere...
Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated.
Cheers again.

hi,
if i press a button in a menu in a parent form i open a child form called form2, if i choose form3 in the menu i want to close form2 and show form3, and visa versa, but i cant do this.
i get an error because the form2 is closed and i cant reopen it.
it has someting to doe with the signle instance... i dont understand it
this i what i have of code, very simple it just opens empty forms:
namespace swapform
{
public partial class Form1 : Form
{
Form2 objchild1 = new Form2();
Form3 objchild = new Form3();
public Form1()
{
InitializeComponent();
objchild1.MdiParent = this;
objchild.MdiParent = this;
}
private void form3ToolStripMenuItem_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
objchild.Show(); //show form3
objchild1.Close(); // close form 2
}
private void form2ToolStripMenuItem_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
objchild1.Show(); //show form 2
objchild.Close();//close form 3
}
}
}
|
|
|
|
|
Use the Hide method to hide the window. Once you close it you can't show it any more.

i found a way, cause when i just hide the form is still open and i dont want that.
here is the solution to be able to close a child form when opening another.
namespace swapform
{
public partial class Form1 : Form
{
Form3 objchild = new Form3();
Form2 objchild1 = new Form2();
public Form1()
{
InitializeComponent();
objchild.MdiParent = this;
objchild1.MdiParent = this;
}
private void form2ToolStripMenuItem_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
objchild1.Close();
if ((objchild == null) | (objchild.IsDisposed))
{
objchild = new Form3();
objchild.MdiParent = this;
}
objchild.Show(); // show form3
objchild.Top = 10;//specify the location
objchild.Left = 10;
objchild.Height = 550;
objchild.Width =560;
}
private void form1ToolStripMenuItem_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
objchild.Close();
if ((objchild1 == null) | (objchild1.IsDisposed))
{
objchild1 = new Form2();
objchild1.MdiParent = this;
}
objchild1.Show(); // show form 2
objchild1.Top = 10;//specify the location
objchild1.Left = 10;
objchild1.Height = 550;
objchild1.Width = 560;
}
}

Why do you create the child forms in the constructor at all? Why don't just create them when you need them? Then you don't need the extra code to handle the case when they exist already.

Hi guys,
What is the best way to interchange data between servers? Currently we use a unidirectional program that sends data (in files) via ftp. (with ACK's and NACK's) The client wants it fully bidirectional now.
I was thinking Webservices on both cpu's. What other options are there and what are the (dis)advantages?
(there is upon this point no requirement of a user interface)
Any good links, tutorials, ideas I can look into?
Thanks a lot...

Depends on what you're doing, one possibility if you need "realtime" transfer is to open a socket and just use it to read and write data in a particular (you define it) way.
If you're simply transferring files how about just writing a simple FTP server which can sit at the client / server side of things, this is similar to the previous comment but at least you'll have a well-defined protocol to go by.
I'm not sure about webservices, they may be the way to go, but if you're only transferring files then you've already got the best solution (at least unidirection anyway) because FTP => File Transfer Protocol.
Just my thoughts.
Just Google it.
Failing that try phoning

Hi thanks for your reply !!
I think they want to loose the files (they only upload them in their database anyway) This is the reason why I thought webservices, because you can just send the data via a datasets eg.
Mm sockets, I need to read into that, but at least I have a new keyword for google
Thanks a lot...

Well if you wrote your own FTP server (using Sockets) then you could also upload files directly into the database, plus there isn't the overhead of calling a WebService.
Try googling "C# FTP Server" and the first few results may be helpful to you.
Of course you could simply write your own "protocol" to do exactly what you want, this might take a bit longer but will ultimately be more powerful. It may also be worth a look into TelNet since I think you can send files using that, plus it has has command-like features.

Hi Folks,
Any help for this issue would be appreciated.
Am trying to move a file from a soruce to destination folder in the following steps :
1)Check if destination directory exists [Directory.Exists(path)].. Else, create one.
2)DiretoryInfo di=new DirectoryInfo(sourcePath);
3)FileInfo[] fi= di.getFiles("TAX");
4)Foreach FileInfo
{
FileInfo.move(source, destination);
}
So, am getting an error right after the first step and error is "Second path fragment must not be a drive or UNC name. ".
Any ideas please?
Thanks,
RB

Sounds like the second path fragment is a drive or UNC name. Have you stepped through in the debugger ?

Hi,
I'm devoloping a project and in my project i want to create a .Net user control ( for example a combobox control) and implement this control's events in runtime. The question is how to add this combobox control to a ToolStrip control? I searched help documents but there is no "handle" property in ToolStripItem control. Is there any way to add this combobox control to ToolStrip control as a ToolStripItem control or any way?
Is there any suggestion? Thanks is advance...

[I already posted this, but I can't see it even though it says that it is a duplicate message. So here it is again.]
Yes you can. You have to derive your ToolStripWhatever from ToolStripControlHost , and pass your control to the base constructor. Then use OnSubscribeControlEvents and OnUnsubscribeControlEvents to subscribe/unsuscribe to events.
If you are really looking for a combo box (and it was not just an example) for your toolstrip, it exists already: ToolStripComboBox[^].
I hope this helps!

i want a exe file in my cd that when my software isn't installed run setup from cd otherwise run cd software from client computer
i know i must do it with Registry
is there any sample code ?
Thanks

I imagine you just want to put the installed path to the exe in the registry, and if it's there, run it.

Most installation software lets you create registry keys. You've not told us what you're using for an installer. Then your program can read the registry, how to do that is well documented.

Well, that takes the cake. Why on earth are you asking in the C# forum then ?

Hi
i put a bitmap on to the control but this bitmap is with alpha layer
and aplha color is black.How can i make the alpha color transparent
|
|
|
|
|
How is there an alpha layer ? The typical way is the create an image attributues class, specify a transparency range and use it in the call to DrawImage.

Hi,
In VB we are using Timer.Is there anything like that in C#.Net ?
Thanks,
Mirunalini

|
|
|

Yes, there is. You have System.Windows.Forms.Timer control that uses the timer in windows UI, and there are System.Threading.Timer and System.Timers.Timer which are a multi-threaded timers.
