all,
We are using office automation to convert excel and word to htm we had severa issues like access denied exception etc. and for this issue to solve we followed KB article of MS to configure office under specific user account, but the problem is because security issues we cant follow KB article(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288367/), by looking at KB article what i felt is they are trying to create a profile for local administrator user. So my question can any body have any alternate for this??
We accept tht we went for bad design, but we dont have any other alternative as this is a must requirement from customer.
Please any cluse any information you have.

Hi,
I wonder where you got the exception. Are you using Visual Studio Tools for Office 2003? Or are you using normal plugins to automate office?
If you use Visual Studio Tools for Office you have to setup code access security policies to work with the addons. This can be done under any account, by running caspol under administrative privileges
WM.

Hi everyone, I was asked following question, if anyone knows can u pls tell me
1. The assembly has been updated from version 1.0 to 2.0. The latest assembly 2.0 has some problem, it is required that application should use old assembly. How can we make the application to use old versioned assembly dynamically?
2. while developing a web application what factors should be considered with respect to no of ppl access the same application at a time?
3. When a http request is received by IIS serever, it checks if the page is .aspx and passes to aspnet_is.dll engine. How IIS server detects aspx page? if I have a .html page, and I change the file extension to .aspx, will this page process by IIS server to aspnet_is.dll?
Thanks and regards

Job interview? Doesn't the fact that you're asking the CodeProject forums give away you might be cheating a bit? Here are my guesses.
1. With enormous difficulty unless there's something I don't know. There's no way to unload an assembly, you have to unload the AppDomain to which it has been loaded, so unless you've really planned for this, you can't unload version 1.0 and load in 2.0. To do that you'd need multiple domains in your app and have a Marshalling nightmare between them all. By design, you could load the assembly in at startup and use reflection to access it, but again you would have had to have planned for this in the design. Anybody know a way of doing this without reflection and I'd be very interested to hear how.
2. Scalability issues. Things like session expiry, caching and the like. Also speed of hardware/farming options etc.
3. IIS knows because you ask for a page with an .aspx extension. In IIS you can tell which ISAPI extensions to use for each file type. If you change an .html page to end with .aspx, then it will get passed to the asp.net ISAPI dll and handled by .net (probably very badly).

Rob Philpott.

If i have a string that contains certain delimiters, such as a comma(','), then how can I get a count of it.
consider the string as
"one, two, three, four". the number of commas in this example is 3. How can I get it using C#?
Would really appreciate help.

Hi,
String s = "one, two, three, four";//your string//
Char[]c=new Char[1];
c[0]=',';//use the seperator you want//
String[] ss = s.Split(c);
int count=ss.length-1;

thanks nishu. it works.
But i tried another approach.
int flag2;
L:flag2 = s1.Contains(",");
if (flag2 == true)
{
comma_count++;
j = s1.IndexOf(",");
s = s1.Substring(0, j);
// arr2[req_temp_count] = s;
// req_temp_count++;
s = s1.Remove(0, j + 1);
s1 = s;
goto L;
}
i did this because I wanted to store the substrings in a separate array.
but really thanks. Got another approach.

Then use Niiiiiiiisssssshhhhhhuuuuuuus code. It does exactly that, but much more efficiently with much less code.

For a short horrible moment I though I saw a goto statement... wait... arghhh... I did see a goto statement!
You MIGHT want to have a look at the "while" keyword

OMG -- this is the worst example of programming I've seen since I taught class.
Keshav V. Kamat wrote: i did this because I wanted to store the substrings in a separate array.
Your code does no storing of anything in any array whatsoever! And it is quite an expensive set of code. Doing this:
string Val = "a,b,c,ddd,e"
string values[] = Val.Split(',');
...will take your input string, split out the values into an array, remove the comma, and it's length represents the number of comma-delimited words in it. You end up with an array that looks like this:
a
b
c
ddd
e
and the number of values is values.Length which is 5 -- and the number of commas is values.Length - 1 which is 4. Likewise if there are no ',' in the string, then values contains just the first instance of the string with an array length of 1.

If we set a control's autoscroll to be true, it will autoscroll on both x, and y directions. How can I make it only autoscroll in one direction, say up and down?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm trying to find a control that will have the functionality of a shortcut bar (like the Toolbox bar in VS.Net - you click on the category "Windows forms" and it slides and shows all the components) but that will allow me to put various controls on it (like the TabCtrl does). Is there something like this already available? Maybe part of a .Net controls library sold by somebody?
Any suggestions?
thanx

Hello
One common misunderstanding that occurs here in the form is considering DataGridView and DataGrid as synonyms. They are not the same. Which exactly are you using?
I'll still assume that you use the old DataGrid :
Revise DataGrid.TableStyles property and DataGridColumnStyle class in your MSDN. Though I strongly recommend that you use DataGridView instead.

Hello
I suppose you write it like this:
Process.Start(@"C:\Program Files\Winzip\Winzip.exe %1 MyFile.zip");
or something similar? Instead, only write the zip file name:
Process.Start("MyFile.zip");
and the windows explorer will launch the default program associated with that file type -usually will be Winzip-.

Hi
Use this one.
process1.StartInfo.FileName="C:\\Program Files\\Winzip\\Winzip.exe";
process1.StartInfo.Arguments="Myfile.zip";
process1.Start();

How to change the color of the complete row in my datagridview?
1. read the information from a file //DONE!
2. fill the cells with information //DONE!
3. add the cells to the row //DONE!
4. add the row to the datagridview //DONE!
5. display the datagridview //DONE!!
This is what should be done:
if the cell[0] Value == "FALSE"
set the row backgroundcolor to red
think this has to be done between step 3 and 4.
Would appreciate every hint.
Thx,
Ezazazel

Hello
Try changing DataGridView.Rows[X].DefaultCellStyle.BackColor for that row.

There is a property called AlternativeColor, i think. That property makes every second row a different color.

Is there an implementation for CORBA in Visual Studio 2005 / especially C# (free- or gnu would be perfect)
If yes, where can I get it?
