I have a Web User Control that has a single Label in it that says "My User Control." I expose a property called ControlText that gets and sets the Label's text.
In my Visual Studio designer, I drop the user control on my page, and I see a visual representation of my control that says, "My User Control." All is good.
In the properties pane, I set the ControlText property to "Test." When I run the page, my label says "Test," which is great. However, I want my user control to say "Test" at design time too (not "My User Control").
Is there an easy way to do this?

AFAIK, the web user control does not support this design-time behaviour, and the easy way is to develop a custom control instead.

I am trying to use a Custom Membership provider. I have set everything up and when i go to run it it keeps giving me the error Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'. This a stored procedure in the default table that studio creates for. Any one got any suggestions?

1) Read How to get an answer to your question
Note the line that reads Keep the subject line brief, but descriptive.
2) Check if the stored proc in question exists and the crendentials you are using has access to it

The value of this control at the client side is read-only, so you cannot set it. If you don't want to use it, you may consider an ActiveX control, but it sounds overhead to me in this case.

Any other way to do it. I want to upload a file without browsing the file.

hi everybody!!
sorry for repostin this message...as i could not get any reply..ima doing this again.....i need this very badly guys...plz help me!!!
iam using the create user wizard and login control provided in the Login tab of the toolbox in VS2005. iam using them for authentication in my application.
the problem is, i need to know how the password is encrypted and stored in the aspnetdb database when a new user is created. Also i need to know how the Login control authenticates a user, i.e., how does it verify the password entered while authenticating.
i would be grateful to anybody who can help me in this regard as my entire application depends on this. The reason why i want to know this is i need to encrypt a password using the same method and verify it with the encrypted password in the aspnetdb. This would give correct results only if both methods of encrypting are same.
thanks in advance to anybody and everybody who replies to this query. plz help me guys!!!!!!!

Maybe the reason you didn't get any replies the first time was because no one had any ideas, so reposting it probably won't change anything. Except that you have at least gotten one reply this time, this one.;P

In Visual Basic I could programmatically raise a Button_Click event.
I am using a GridView on a Web Project to display data and I have added several DataControlFields like Edit and Delete. How can I programmatically raise the RowCommand event that is raised when say, the Edit button on the GridView control is pressed?
|
|
|
|
|
When the Edit button is placed inside the GridView, the RowCommand event of the gridView control is automatically raised as the Command event of the button is bubbled up. So what you need to do is to simply create an event handler for the RowCommand event.

hi ,
I want to add the values of two text boxes and display it in the third textboxes.
Both the values is numeric.
For example there is textbox1 and textbox2 and when the user enter the data in two textboxes a calculation should perform such as addition of two values and should display in third textbox automatically.
Textbox1 = 2
Textbox2 = 2
Textbox3 = 4
How it can be done.Please help.I required urqently in my project.I have tried doing that but it is throwing an error.

You have to convert the texts to numbers before you can do any calculation. You can use Int32.Parse or Double.Parse to parse the values.
---
b { font-weight: normal; }
|
|
|
|
|
Textbox1.Text = 2<br />
Textbox2.Text = 2<br />
<br />
Textbox3.Text = Convert.ToString(double.Parse(Textbox1.Text) + double.Parse(Textbox2.Text));
|
|
|
|
|
If by 'automatically' you mean you don't intend to have the computation done in an event (say click) of a fourth control (say a button), then you need to place the code in the LostFocus event of both Textbox1 and Textbox2. However, you may need to validate the contents of the two textboxes
For Example;
Private Sub Textbox1_LostFocus(ByVal sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Textbox1.LostFocus
If Textbox1.Text.Length > 0 AndAlso IsNumeric(Textbox1.Text.Length) AndAlso Textbox2.Text.Length > 0 AndAlso IsNumeric(Textbox2.Text.Length) Then
Textbox3.Text = CDbl(Textbox1.Text) + CDbl(Textbox2.Text)
End If
End Sub
But you may possibly need to do more than this

Hello,
I need to implement a repeater item template at runtime and add a label to it.
How can I do this?
Thanks,
Miguel

Do a little research. It's not hard to find examples of using the repeater control with templates. Then come back and ask questions if you need help.

Hello,
I have an Asp Repeater and inside it I have only an Asp Label.
I need to set my Label Text as follows:
Private Sub lNews_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles lNews.Init
' Define lNews properties
With lNews
.CssClass = "lNews"
.Text = "Title" & [Title] & "Description" & [Description] *******
End With
End Sub
In ******* I want to load the [Title] and [Description] table fields.
I loaded my database records using an AccessDataSource
My question is:
How to I get the [Title] and [Description] values from my AccessDataSource and place them in lNews.Text?
Thanks,
Miguel

Hi All,
I am developing webservice in asp.net 2.0 which must be RPC Style based
which takes input as a xml file.I am just developing default webservice
in Visual Studio 2005 which has webMethod.Is this is RPC STYLE OR Document
style webservice? if No then how build RPC style one.........?
Also How client then made request to this service which must be open on
some port.
Send me some example for RPC STyle Web Service if possible.
Thanks in Advance.

By default, Visual Studio creates document style web services. This can be a problem if you are calling the web service from a J2EE application becuase J2EE clients expect RPC style services by default. The good news is that it is easy to change the stype of your web service.
1. Add [SoapRpcService()] above your class declaration
2. Remove [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] from your web service class.
Let's look at the default web service visual studio provides when you create a new web services project:
[WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")]<br />
[WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)]<br />
[ToolboxItem(false)]<br />
public class Service1 : System.Web.Services.WebService<br />
{<br />
[WebMethod]<br />
public string HelloWorld()<br />
{<br />
return "Hello World";<br />
}<br />
}
Here is the same web service implemented RPC style
<br />
[WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")]<br />
[ToolboxItem(false)]<br />
[SoapRpcService()]<br />
public class Service1 : System.Web.Services.WebService<br />
{<br />
[WebMethod]<br />
public string HelloWorld()<br />
{<br />
return "Hello World";<br />
}<br />
}

Hi Jim,
I have created one RPC Style WebService by including [SoapRpcService()].
Now after launching how to open that webService to particular port,so that
it can able to listen the request from client.
Actualy i have one code snippet
[SoapRpcMethod()]
public string GetData(string request)
{
data.XmlRequest = request;
string response = data.GetData();
return response;
}
This take string as input which is in xml format.After parsing and performing calulation returns a string response which is in same format.
so, my question is how this method listen the request from client? i.e J2EE Client.
Or is there nessesary to open a partucular port for listening client
request?
What things I should do extra for converting it to RPC Based?
Once again...
Thanks in advance.
