When reporting a post as Abuse, it might be nice to be able to put in an input why you are reporting a problem post. Might make it easier for the "moderators" to see which posts need to be gotten rid of.

Nice idea but it's usually obvious why posts are marked as abuse.

True. Tech posts are mostly abusive and are charged with plagariasm. But comments for abuse mostly apply to generic forums like Lounge etc.

Hello
Can you guide me as to how i can update my profile
I want to make following changes in my profile
I want to hide my Birthday
I want to update my Occupation
I want to update my Interests

Click on "My Settings" on Top-Right of the page.(You will find them no matter where you are.) And after modifiying your settings, click on "save" button which'd be given at the bottom of the page.(My settings page)

I did the same
After trying the same for two or three times i posted this message .
for example i am not able to change my birthdate and occupation

Oh I'm sorry then. You should wait for a reply from the Boss

There seems to be some load problems with CP server and me too am getting 500 errors. That should be one of the reasons for the profile not getting reflected.
BTW, did you clear the web browser cache and try?

Btw, this is "Suggestions" Forum. If you have something to suggest to Chris you can post here. A question like this should not be posted here. You can ask this even in the Lounge. It doesn't hurt

Here or an email to the webmaster. At least here, you got a crack at it. Besides, i hear Chris is always up for more stress-testing Outlook.
The Lounge is generally not the best place for such questions.

His initial post looked as if he's just asking how to change his settings. He didn't explain that he had tried to update it thrice. So I thought he needs a *treatment* in the lounge for asking such a trivial question. But I was really sorry then when he explained that he tried to update it thrice. .

I think it would be a good idea to create a new forum about the CLR. The .NET Framework forum sort of fits the category but I think that one should be for the FCL and BCL. The CLR deserves its own space.

hi i was visiting some image hosting site (hi5.com) there (in there member profile display area ) they use link of images from all over the web to add a picture and instead of copying that image from there they just pass the link
i was thinking that same can be done in our message boards also
just by
<img src="url" >
and it will not cost code project`s space
if this thing is enabled then it would be more easy to explain our questions
and yes also like there in rediffmail.com the images are by default disabled and user have option to view images because it is not feasible for every user to see images (bandwidth limitations)
but this can help a lot
yes the work of code project staff will increase of monitoring images but they can block image posting of the user who just break the rules

I think you are new to CP. You will soon learn why it is not allowed here. . And nobody recommends it too.

<img> is purposely disabled. You can use an image hosting site like tinypic.com to host the picture, and put a link in your post to the hosted copy.

Agreed, and I won't follow any blind links to hosting sites without reading replies. I refuse to risk trouble with IS/HR because some moron linked to something obscene and I followed the link. Embed images and that protection is lost, and i'll be gone.

Currently you have special icons for supporters, site builders, staff etc.
How about a special icon for members who have posted an article within the last 30 days? E.g. a little star on the head or something..

Noobs will be noobs.
BTW the adds are a small but necessary inconvenience. Just press ESC to stop the animating (unless it's Flash).
