I am translating a VB program to VB.net and cant find any information on toggle buttons. If one button is clicked(True) then in another Sub I want to use it for a comparison.
Old VB code:
If caddaily.Value = True And cadx.Value = False Then cadtrade = True
where caddaily,cadx are toggle buttons that stays depressed once clicked.
What would the code be in VB.net to do the same thing?
Thanks in advance.

The CheckBox has a property to show a button instead of a little box. It supports button images that stay "pushed".

I am translating a program to VB.net and when I created the form in VB.net, the toggle button does not stay down(visually) like it does in the old VB. I have read about picking the style in properties, but that option is not in my properties for that button. Thanks in advance.

They have a property called "DropDownStyle". This property has "Simple", "DropDown" and "DropDownList". You want the last one.

How do you block Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+Tab and the windows logo button? Im making a small program called desktopShield that blocks access to the desktop and only allow access to whatever form is tied to 'Esc'.
I found some code that can block keys. But I can't figure out how to target the key and key combinations that I want to block.
If (Hookstruct.vkCode = VK_ESCAPE) And _
CBool(GetAsyncKeyState(VK_CONTROL) _
And &H8000) Then
Call HookedState("Ctrl + Esc blocked")
Return True
End If

Hi all,
I am getting really stressed and I am hoping someone could help me out. I am trying to update a record into a table in MS Access database using table adapters in VB.net 2005.
I have read the stuff on the sites and it still does not work does anybody have any ideas or any way to do it?
Please help.
MyDataSet.Student_Details.Rows(2).Item(3) = "new"
MyDataSet.GetChanges(DataRowState.Modified)
Student_DetailsTableAdapter1.Update(MyDataSet)
MyDataSet.AcceptChanges()
Me.Validate()
Me.Student_DetailsBindingSource.EndEdit()
Me.Student_DetailsTableAdapter1.Update(Me.MyDataSet.Student_Details)

Is it possible to minimize and an application to the system tray and include the 'minimize to system tray' icon next to the minimize icon? Possibly without using the Windows API...
I would also like to create a schedule that carries out commands at frequencies given by the user, whilst the program is still running.
How is this usually done? Timers? Creating Windows Scheduled tasks? How?
I would appreciate any help...

Yes you can. Just create a NotifyIcon and use this code to minimize your app:
<br />
Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Minimized<br />
If Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Minimized = True Then<br />
Me.ShowInTaskbar = False<br />
NotifyIcon.Visible = True<br />
End If<br />
and undo it with:
<br />
Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized<br />
If Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized = True Then<br />
Me.ShowInTaskbar = True<br />
NotifyIcon.Visible = False<br />
End If<br />
Hope this works.

Thanks. Do you know if it's possible with VS 2005 to do the following:
* create a minimize to tray icon?
* handle the event when the user selects 'minimize / maximize on the form?

I have a app with a listview on a form set to detailsview. This works great but now I would like to add small image icons.
In the listview controle is a "smallimagelist" property that is set to none and I can not change that...?
Below is the code I use to populate the listview on load....
How can I modify my code to allow small icon view mode?
<br />
<br />
Public Sub ReloadListviewFromXML()<br />
Dim AddressBook As String = (Path.Combine(Application.StartupPath, "AddressBook.xml"))<br />
Dim ds As New DataSet<br />
<br />
Try<br />
ds.ReadXml(AddressBook)<br />
Dim dt As DataTable = ds.Tables("People")<br />
Dim i As Integer<br />
Dim j As Integer<br />
Me.listviewObjects.Items.Clear()<br />
<br />
For i = 0 To dt.Rows.Count - 1<br />
Dim dr As DataRow = dt.Rows(i)<br />
With Me.listviewObjects<br />
.Items.Add(dr(0))<br />
For j = 1 To dt.Columns.Count - 1<br />
.Items(i).SubItems.Add(dr(j))<br />
Next<br />
End With<br />
Next<br />
Catch ex As System.Exception<br />
<br />
End Try<br />
<br />
listviewObjects.GridLines = True<br />
listviewObjects.FullRowSelect = True<br />
listviewObjects.MultiSelect = True<br />
<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Thanks...

Hi Japel,
You don't need to modify your code. Just add an imagelist from the toolbox to your form and add some images to it. Click on your listview and set the property 'SmallImageList' to the imagelist you've just added.
However, if you want to use different images for different items in your listview, I suggest that you modify your code so that it uses ListviewItems.

Nico

Hi all,
We all know how to automatically signout the user and direct him to the login page if he is inactive for say 20 minutes in ASP.NET, using session timeout.
How to do the same thing in windows forms application?
If anyone can give me a hint or sample code,it will be highly appreciated..
Thanks,

By writing your own timeout code. The feature exists in ASP.NET because a user could be taking valuable server resources that need to be kept between page requests. There is no such need on a windows forms application because everything is local to the machine it is being used from. Also, if a user needs to be logged in for a windows forms application then Windows Authentication is used and the authentication information is picked up from the account the user logged in as to Windows.

Ahum... I confess... that might be a programing question ...
A friend of mine has little kid. Big enough to use the computer.
He created a kid user with restricted user account for his kid but he would like to remove the confusing start menu, etc.... with a simple, home made, kiosk style, fullscreen GUI interface.
Which could just launch a bunch of game and logout/shutdown.
And he ask how to do that.
But I don't know!
It's why.. ahum.. I'm asking you, how to wirte a "kiosk style, fullscreen GUI" which lauch at the start of the session and prevent the WINDOWS, WINDOWS+E, WINDOWS+M and ALT+TAB keys to work, or that sort of things...
Any tip?

Indeed, but which forum?
I though of posting in C++, C#, .NET Frameword and Operating System.
Yet none of these seemed an appropriate forum...

That must mean it belongs in the VB.NEt forum, if you're not using C++ or C#...
