Ive just developed my first little grid control (based on Control), and because of negligence on my part, it took some figuring out that I need to Invalidate my whole area in the OnResize method to redraw the grid lines (in OnPaint) correctly every time the control is sized. I would love to find a resource that explains the lifecycle, the event model, owner drawing, etc. Pointers to good articles or sites would be greatly appreciated.

Cant answer your direct question, but something to consider is that you can use SetStyle within your control to set the ResizeRedraw bit to automatically redraw your control on resize
this.SetStyle(ControlStyles.ResizeRedraw,true);

Hi all,
I have the problem to keep the current added line in a RichTextBox in view. So the text should be scrolled if it exceeds the frame range.
I tried it with ScrollToCare method but it has no visible effect.
The code snippet should place the cursor always at the current position
but it does not scroll to the end of the lines. I tried 3 versions with no effect.
private void button1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
try<br />
{<br />
this.richTextBox1.Clear();<br />
for(int i=0; i<200; i++)<br />
{<br />
this.richTextBox1.SelectedText = "Index = " + i.ToString() + "\r\n";
this.richTextBox1.ScrollToCaret();<br />
}<br />
}<br />
catch{}<br />
}
What's wrong ?
Tnx in advance
Regards
Frank

Use
this.richTextBox1.SelectionStart = this.richTextBox1.text.Length;
Hope it'll solve your problem

Hi,
that's what I have already tried - with no success.
this.rTB_Info.Clear();<br />
for(int i=0; i<200; i++)<br />
{<br />
this.rTB_Info.SelectedText = "Index = " + i.ToString() + "\r\n";<br />
this.rTB_Info.SelectionStart = this.rTB_Info.Text.Length;<br />
this.rTB_Info.ScrollToCaret();<br />
}<br />
Some new ideas ?
Tnx

Hi,
clear is outside the loop - it has no effect.
Please tryout the snippet before.
Tnx
Frank
|
|
|
|
|
write this before the loop
this.rTB_Info.Focus();

The ScrollToCaret method only works if the RTB has the input focus, so...
(quit putting all the damn this in your code, you don't need them...)
rTB_Info.SelectionStart = rTB_Info.Text.Length;
rTB_Info.Focus();
rTB_Info.ScrollToCaret();

It's already in there. It's the first Note listed in the documentation:
Note
This method has no effect if the control does not have focus or if the caret is already positioned in the visible region of the control.

We've got the same saying in the States. In MS' documentation, it most definately applies!

Hello,
How can I ignore the keys the user inserts into a textbox ?
I've tried signing up to the keydown event, end use the e.SuppressKeyPress = true to achieve it in .NET 2005, but this is not supported by .NET 2003.
Maybe use the Handle property for this ?
Thanks, Eyal

use KeyPress Event and make
e.handle=true;

hi
Iam having a problem in focussing button on a form,
in the form i have 1 rich textbox and a button before showing the form i changed the text of RTB like this
FrmHelp frmHelp = new FrmHelp();
frmHelp.HelpTextBox.Text = "This is help";
frmHelp.ShowDialog();
and in the load event i changed the focus to button
private void FrmHelp_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
buttonClose.Focus();
}
but the button didn't get focus and the rich textbox still had a focus on it the text "This is help" has been highlighted(selected),
How to override this. even i checked the Focused property of Both control it says False.
Thanks and Regards,
Srini
