What's wrong with pressing the 'Ctrl' Key & Space Bar? Heck type the first few characters and if its unique VS 6 will fill in the rest for you.
I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

A CString is actually a pointer. It's length is four bytes, same as any pointer. You can say that a CString is char* on steroids.
Therefore, using CString* will not help you with memory management. It will only introduce errors. Use the object itself, and familiarise yourself with all the great functions that come with it.

The internal layout/format of the file is obviously going to be different, but nothing physically different as far as the OS is concerned.

The format of the file is propriatery. While information might be available, since it is not supported by Microsoft, are you sure you'd want to rely upon it? What exactly is it that you are after (that Outlook Automation does not offer)?

Hello,
Any one knows a sample article OR a commercial component that allows file preview in an application. The preview should work for pictures, office documents, txt files.
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Dan.

can't you just ::ShellExecute() the file to preview so that it automatically opens the right application for it ?

Thank you for the reply.
I am intended to show the file preview into a MDI application.

Hi,
Sorry to have bothered you .But I want to deactivate a menu option once it is used. I don't have CMenu object.I have a menu which belongs to IDR_MAINFRAME identifier.

you don't bother me ; but i have the impression that you ask questions here because you're too lazy to read the doc and learn a bit by yourself (i'm certainly wrong then).
also, i don't understand when you say "I have a menu which belongs to IDR_MAINFRAME identifier.". IDR_MAINFRAME is commonly the ID of the application's main icon in the resource file (.rc).
you say you don't have a CMenu. but you're using MFC, right ?
here's what you have to do then. in the event handler "click in the menu item", construct a temporary CMenu which reflects the menu clicked, identifies the item clicked, and then use the method indicated previously to deactivate it...

Hi,
CMenu* m = AfxGetMainWnd()->GetMenu();
CMenu* s = m->GetSubMenu(2);
s->EnableMenuItem(ID_VIEW_INCOMEVIEW, MF_BYCOMMAND |
MF_DISABLED | MF_GRAYED);
I above code did not disable the menu item ID_VIEW_INCOMEVIEW
I have written this code in the function which handles the ID ID_VIEW_INCOMEVIEW
so once the ID_VIEW_INCOMEVIEW is selected the next time it should be grayed.
so I posed the question
Any ideas

just a guess. have you tried to place a breakpoint in the debugger and see if the code is executed ?
