It's not peppy code if you need to look at the entire harddrive but this will get you through it if you know where to start.

Hi Friends
Anybody please tell me how to compile the InstallShield Project from a commandline.
I am using InstallShield12 for the Creation of the Project.
I used IsCmdBld.exe,But i got only the .msi file.No other files(Merge Modules,Other Dll's) are there.Can anybody plz....help me to solve this problem.

When I am trying to install that msi,i got an error saying that
'The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.This may indicate a problem with this package.The error code is 2714'
I think it doen't include any merge modules.But i don't know how to specify it,Can u plz.. help me

when ever you set your dataGrid's datasource from the ds that time pic the ds.Tables Schema and write in Excel file with making the same schema in excel file and write in excel's files schema or fields.

Hello,
I have to insert a current date and current time into a database.
I am using vb 2005 and sql 2005.
Dim time As DateTime<br />
Dim day As DateTime<br />
<br />
time = Date.Now.ToShortTimeString()<br />
day = Date.Now.ToShortDateString()
I am using the above to get the time and the day. I would like to display the date as 1/11/2006 and the time as 10:08.
However, in the database it is showing as:
Date: 10/31/2006 12:00:00 AM
Time: 10/31/2006 9:34:11 PM
I have set the database field to nvarchar(50). I can't have the fields as dateTime, as I don't want to display a pop calandar in my ultragrid.
Is there a problem with the code?

Use Like this:

This will convert the date and time into Indian culture.
temp will have the value of 9:30:00 AM
and
var will have the value of 11/1/2006

Don't let limitations like that mess up your database design. Store the datetime properly in the database, and convert it to strings when you are fetching data to be used with that component.

You have been "helped" by VB to convert the values back to DateTime. The extra conversions that are added, as you are storing the values in DateTime variables, are equivalent to:
time = Convert.ToDateTime(Date.Now.ToShortTimeString())
day = Convert.ToDateTime(Date.Now.ToShortDateString())
A DateTime structure always has a date and a time, and no information about formatting. If you convert a string containing only a date to a DateTime, it will get the time 0:00. If you convert a string containing only a time, it will get the current date.

Hi all,
I have a problem where based on one of the column's value in the datagrid the next column should allow the user to enter the value.We have some calculations to perform if the first coulmn's value is "True".But if its "False" i want user to enter some amount or just leave it as blank.
If cbocalculate ="Yes" then
result=.....
else
here i want the column to be changed into a textbox so that user can enter
values..Have been trying but no success YET,Please can anyone help?

2) set the property of each column 'readonly'= true

How can I create a report of a table (no hierarchy) with a static design but a varying sql-select-cmd. In detail: the shown fields shall remain the same but the underlying sql-select-cmd shall change in its where-part (links between tables and choice of parameters) and its from-part (the tables needed for the where-part).
I mean I'd like to set the sql-select-cmd as a string. When I start with a new report I can define a select cmd (even complicated ones) instead of choosing tables and defining links between them. But I've not found a possibility to change this cmd afterwards. ... Neither in the documentations, nor in the hierarchy of classes and its members.

I am saving results to a text file and want my information to line up in nice little columns
Name Status Extra Info
Test A Pass 10.0
Test B with longer name Fail 7.5
Test C, short Name Pass 17.5
But what I get using VBTAB is inconsistent:
Name Status Extra Info
Test A Pass 10.0
Test B with longer name Fail 7.5
Test C, short Name Pass 17.5
Not sure if I can use a format function of not, documentation does not supply much info on format for text strings, just dates and numbers
I understand the fonnts can not be a serif font, this is just for display to an operator

Hello No-e,
You have to write the data as fixed length column files. Determine your output fields and find out the best fit MAX length of the data for each column. Then use VB/VB.net LSet(), RSet() functions are Trim() functions to write your columns in fixed length.

A text file has no formatting capabilities, so you have to use spaces to line them up, and specify for anyone who will be using it to use a non-proporional font when displaying it.
You can use alignment in composite formatting to line up the columns. Example from MSDN:

Hi -
I have a bunch of dates stored in a database and I have a bunch of dateTimePickers on my form.
How do I set the DateTimePicker at runtime ?
I know how to fill the dataset and that whole business, I'm more concerned with formating the date
and putting it in the value property of the dateTimePicker ? That I haven't figured out.
p.s. I'm not databinding nor would I like to

All you have to do is set the DTP's Value property. It expects a DateTime value, so you might have to convert your date information to a DateTime[^] before you pass it to the DTP.

I have a program that our employees run that contains customer info and item info. I would like to be able to access the information currently being displayed by that program from another program we need to write. Once we gather the information and do some calculation, I would like to write the result back onto the displayed form in a specific field. We do not have source for the executing program. Can you help?
