Not sure how you want to get the html markup of the web page test.aspx from a client outside or inside the application boundary, you might want to check out the Server.Execute[^] to execute the test.aspx page and get the return html markup from the writer.

private string GetPageMarkup(string pageUrl)
{
StringWriter buffer = new StringWriter();
HtmlTextWriter writer = new HtmlTextWriter(buffer);
Server.Execute(pageUrl, writer);
return buffer.ToString();
}

It all depends on what you need to display. Datagrid is fine if you just need to display data, by using queries, and if you are good with sql and asp.net
However, I only started last week with reporting services and I have done 4 reports, and the one report was a real pain - took me two days - queries within queries. So, if you want it to look nice and the user needs it in pdf, xml, image, html, csv format too, I would say go with reporting services from sql server. Ok, just one more thing, you need reporting services installed and configured on your sql server.
You can also use the wizard to create a report, to start out. I did it with my first one. Just go in Visual Studio:
New project -> Business Intelligence Projects -> Report Server Project Wizard
Also, there are a few nice tutorials in the help files of visual studio... just look for "tutorials" under "sql reporting services" (filter by "sql server reporting services" in the dropdown box).
Try these links too:
msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms170246.aspx

Hope you come right.

What do you mean by this? You want to use its value or want to get reference to the textbox control from another web page?

AFAIK, the second parameter of the method does not support the regular expression, so you cannot use this method search for multi file types with a single call. In this case, you either call the method twice or use the regular expression to filter the result of the method.

Hi all
I have 3 textbox's in my web page when user fill the textboxes i want to add (Bind) to DataGrid
After submiting 2 or more values i want save the datagrid details in DB
Can any one give me a idea on this to how can i bind the textbox values to dtatgrid

The simple way is to add the values of the textboxes to the datasource and bind it to the datagrid control, you also persist the datasource somewhere in Session for example. And when you want to save data, you can do that with the persisted datasource.

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to pass parameters to a sql report(reporting services) - reportserver.
I have two variables I need to set in the report - LocationCode and FinYear. They are defined in my sql query as @LocationCode and @FinYear. The user needs to select these variables(Parameters) on my webpage, and then once he clicks a button, the report should be rendered - either html view(like on default setting for when you open "http://localhost/reports" or in pdf format.
Does anyone know if this is possible, and how to proceed?

Hello,
Inside my master page Page_Init I have the following:
1: ' pContainer
2 : Dim pContainer As New Panel
3: AddHandler pContainer.Init, AddressOf pContainer_Init
4: Page.Controls.Add(pContainer)
I get the error "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases."
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Miguel

How do I define a subdirectory to contain an application, and have its own assembly cache. As it is now, when I put an application in its own subdirectory it doesn't use the bin directory in that dir, but then one at root level.
I'm using a hosted account so I cannot make any changes to IIS. Is there any entry I could add to Web.Config?
Thanks

Then you cam't do it. You need to create the application for the folder in the IIS manager.

I have a simple test winform user control that simply opens a textbox and outputs a message to it. It has no properties.
In the web project, I am only using a single object tag:
<object id="fred" classid="http:Text.dll#TextTest.Text">
If you are seeing this message, then your browser
does not support embedded objects!
to call it from an html page (the default asp page is excluded from project again to keep it simple). When I run this from Visual Studio 2005 (under .NET 2.0), the control loads into the download assembly cache and runs ONLY IF I add a .NET security policy thats grants all code to run on "My Computer". If I remove this policy, then it downloads and installs but won't run (just get a little place holder "square" in the upper left corner of the html page). However, this is not the problem....
When I publish the project to a virtual IIS directory on my system (IIS is installed on my development system), and open access/security permissions wide open on the virtual directory, and then navigate to it using IE, the control won't even download, let alone install and run. IE never gives me any kind of warning/error message/page of any kind and the "FUSLOGVW.EXE" has absolutely no messages of any kind logged even when I open up full logging of every event. The IE page that results is blank, though if I look at page source, it is correct.
I tried this very same procedure on a remote IIS server on the network with exactly the same results. My suspicion is that it is some .NET security mechanism blocking the download of the dll application/control, but I can't find any information to point me in the right direction. I have tried:
> signing the control with a sn key with/without exposing interface to COM
> adding each IIS server used to the Trusted Site zone
> adjusting the .NET security policies for the Machine/All_Code/{My_Computer|LocalIntranet|Trusted_Zone}
> using the .NET configuration wizard to increase the assembly trust
> setting the virtual directory web share to wide open
> granting any applicable users full permissions to the directory
> adding ASPNET user to the permitted users to the directory and giving that user full access permission to do anything
> testing using same steps on a different IIS server
> changing the <object> tag from:
<object id="fred" classid="http:Text.dll#TextTest.Text">...
to
<object id="fred" classid="http://localhost/Test/Text.dll#TextTest.Text">..
(which is where it actually lives on the IIS server). So far, nothing has worked. No matter what I have tried, I always get the exact same results. Can anyone help???
