Perhaps I'm missing something here but would'nt it be nice if you didnt remove all whitespace indentation when you add to a post??
Posted code looks like sh*t! Perhaps I'm missing out on something though, if so I'm sorry about the post but please enlighten me how to keep the indent and whitespace

That's what the <pre>formated tags are for.

I do not know why, but I have seen the same thing in FF 1.5.0.7. The code is in <pre> blocks but the leading spaces are all removed. Do a refresh of the page and all the spaces are there with the formatting properly rendered. Must be an FF bug or my PC playing mind games.

Hi,
Firstly, I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong forum, but I did not know where to post this specifically. Here is my issue: I recently posted an article:
http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/lifecycle.asp[^]
where I got a lot of repeated spam comments from what seems to be a single user.
I think moderators should have a look at this: all the comments from these users are same:
howardCoburn
mikerunner
dotnetgirls
dotnetobjects
Strange thing is that all users registered on the same date and have postings against me only, which seems they are pseudo IDs created by the same user.
Moderators must look into this and possibly ban such users. Else such fraud users will keep spammin the comments page.

You can use the Spam voting link to report a message, or email webmaster-at-codeproject if there's a serious problem with spamming on an article.

Thanks a lot Mike!

how about having a trash bin (for each article) in which the article owner (only) can send (not delete) the comments he didnt like so if any user want to see can see them there but they don't just make the whole scene dirty

Just a small point but to me the STL doesn't really belong with ATL/WTL and the ATL/WTL should be merged with the COM forum.

STL yes, but I don't think ATL/WTL belong in the same forum as COM forum, as you can develop full blown apps with ATL/WTL similar to MFC. Just my 2 cents.

That'd be nice to be able to "hot edit" the articles. I mean that we could make the article directly from the code project web site.
A simple way of doing this is using a web based editor like FCKEditor.
That would enable 2 things:
- A quick way to update an article by the author.
- "wiki-style" editing, for articles that the author accept such foreign editing. That would enable community contribution. I wouldn't enable it by default for current articles but if author wants to enable others to update their articles, that'd be nice.

We already have a HTML WYSIWYG editor.

Is there any way to keep this option unchecked?

Any chance we can make the SoapBox viewable only to members to limit viewers, especially the younger kind, from seeing it? Having it hidden may also make CP look more appealing to those who get turned off by such silliness.

Amongst all "bad" the things kids could find on the internet the Soapbox doesn't even rate. What the hell is it with all the "ban the box" people? If you don't like it don't go there. I like it so I go there. Simple. It called freedom of speech.

This is an IT site after all. Why do we ban people or require them to log in first to post? This is just another deterrent AFAIC.

Because people abuse message boards. If the world was perfect then people would show maturity and consideration from others and not pretend that hiding behind their monitor absolves them from social responsibility.

I agree. I was answering a question with a question.

Requires a 5 digit zip code. Odd, for a site that serves a worldwide audience.

My understanding is that the ads are only shown to those in the US.
Though I could be wrong.

It's most likely my mistake.
I forgot to add "Update CP profile" to my to-do list. Right after "Call United Van Lines to find out if they've decided to ship the rest of you're furniture".

My rental apartment's resident database software app does not support non-US zip codes for previous addresses. So they could not enter my Toronto address. And had to enter 00000. Really weird design in my opinion!
