I am using vs2003 for a vb.net windows app.
I need to create a web browser app that saves password that login to a web site. Theses user accounts are in a database that I can change. The web browser app shares theses login accounts for more users. The web browser app manages current users and kick them off when more users join the wait queue. Micro share accounts.
The problem I am running into is that javascript popups, like calling a javascript function that uses window.open, jump out of my app and opens in the default web browser.. and needs to be kept in my browser app. When it opens in default web browser the login authorization falsea and then requires them to login. I currently hide the login screen from the user and can't let them see it.
What work arounds can I do?

So is the PC you're using the server ? Or is it on the same network as the server ? You can run a trigger when a record is added, but unless it's SQL Server 2005, you can't run C# or VB.NET code inside the database ( nor does the database offer external triggers ). The other option is to perform your action in the ASP.NET app, in the code that also makes the database call.
Really, the obvious thing to do is to send an email when making a DB call that inserts a record.

The API is going to be different if you use Excel ( for example ), so you have a big job in front of you. There is no forum post answer that will help you.

What do you want to do ? You can set up the form so that controls resize when the form resizes, by setting the Anchor or Dock properties. You can set the size of a form, but I don't think that is what you want.

how to Pass range of values from VB to crystal report
I have an order table in access.I want to print orders from 1 to 10 or like that.(values entered in two text boxes).I have created the crystal report,it is working smoothly when giving the range values.
But through Vb I wrote
orders.orderid>=value1 and orders.orderid<=value2
If I give value1=5 and value2=7 it is showing properly.I change the the value1 it is working. But if I change the value of value2 it is not refreshing.always the value of value2 remains the first value(the value given for the first time.)

Not sure I understand your question, but I suspect you may have problems with DataTypes. In what format is the Order No stored in your Database (Text or Number) I would use numbers so rather take the textbox value and convert it before writing to the database. Alternatively if you want to keep the order as text, pad the OrderNo with leading zeroes (in other words use 000001 instaed of 1)

I converted the text value to number.now its working.thank you so much.

i have no idea wat can i do to show the status of an action. Example like i have schedule a action to be done by 5pm today and in my DB i have a colunm call Status. wat can i do to allow my DB to update itself once the action is done?
|
|
|
|
|
You'll have to add code to the "action" to call some kind of status update routine to update the field in the database. It's not going to change on its own.

Sorry.. i dun really understood wat u meant. wat "action" u toking about. Do u have any example of my problem?

You said "action" in your original post! What that "action" is, you have to code is so it updates the status you want.

oh sorry. My action is to shutdown the computer and once tt is done i must be able to change the status to "DONE". I put those code inside the timer should i add the update code into the timer as well? And wat should the code be? Thanks...
|
|
|
|

I'm not writing you app for you. But, think about this. Youre code has to update the database with "Done" after tha action is complete, right? Your action is to shutdown the computer, so how are your code going to update the status if it's no longer running? You have to update that status BEFORE you do the action.
In your Timer code, you check the current time against the scheduled time of the job your supposed to run. Once the two match, you call another method to update the job status with something like "Executing". Then you call another method to launch your action. Once the action returns control to this method, it updates the database with "Done".
Now, in the case where you shutdown the machine, there will be no change of updating the database. So, when your app starts up the next time, it has to scan the database for any status of "Executing" and reset it to "Done".
