After a DataBind add an insert statement
Me.DropDownList1.Items.Insert(0, New ListItem("select one"))
or
Pull the data and items manually before adding the "select one" list item

I.E. something that can examine the project files and markup and themes, make a list of all the graphics referenced and compare it to all the graphics type files it finds in the web and list the ones not referenced in a file dialog where you could then select and delete them.
I ask because I have an graphics folder with hundreds of images in it that were basically copied from a corresponding winform application and I know I'm not using them all, I'd like to be able to weed out the unused ones without manually going through them one by one.

Damn, if only there were some developers around here with some time on their hands.
Seriously, I must see at least 3 posts a month from people asking about ideas for projects to work on and at least 2 posts a month from people looking for something that doesn't exist.
CP should have a wishlist type forum where people can post apps that they would like to see written.

Please try to write in english. Halfway through your post I didn't bother to try to read it any more, due to all strange abbreviations.

In one of my applications, we get the "invalid view state" error when users are accessing it from Macintosh machines (OS X).
The question is, is it a known problem with Macintosh machines? Please note that the problem doesn't seem to happen for users with Windows machines.
Thanks.

I have a dropdown list that populates a list of users from one table in my database using a stored proc. I want to be able to pull that users information from another table(address, email, etc) and display that information on my page. how could i go about doing this?
example of query how should be
select users.*,usersinfo.* <br />
from users,usersinfo<br />
where users.iduser = usersinfo.iduser
this code you execute in SelectedIndexChanged event of DropDownList and then you populate this data in GridView.

Alright I get that but say i wanted to populate one user's information from my table on to my web pageafter the selectedIndexChanged event, and I also want to be able to update, edit and delete that info, but I don't want to use a datagridview. How can I do this?

If you dont want to place a button for the selection, just check the selectedindexchanged event. You can also set it to autopostback.

I normally just use code behind to create a SQL statement and assign it to a SqlDataSource SelectCommand then to a Repeater, GridView, etc. So far it's all worked great.
Now I need to access the data ans manipulate it in the code behind (so far I use VB.NET but any language will work). I'm at a loss for how to do this. I've done what I want to back in the day of ASP, but I don't want to use old code (or the aspcompat=true statement).
Anyone have a good page I could read or a quick example.

Are you talking about creating a a dynamic SQL statement, or manipulate the data?
It will be a static SQL Select statement but I want to run it, assign it to an array and manipulate it all in code behind. Then assign the array to a GridView, Repeater, etc. to display.
Create a DataTable, and populate that from your code behind. Then do your manipulation, and set the datasource, and databind.
