Pathan,
I think the secondTextbox, if it is a DIV, you can use the INNERHTML property to see the formatting.
Else, you need to use a RichTextArea controls. There are a plethora of free RichTextArea controls. Your favorite search engine can help you out with one.

Oh my! I broke my web.config by trying out WSE 3.0. For some reason WSE applied its information into the wrong sections of my web app.
At this point, I can either
1) Try to go back to a previous version of the web.config saved in SourceSafe.
2) Try to get a better understanding of what web.config does, and I mean the nitty gritty details here.
3) If such a thing exists, it would be nice to regenerate the web.config file!
I've googled a few pages about web.config yet nothing out there satisfies my deep thirst for understanding web.config. So any info regarding what *exactly* the role(s) of web.config is(are) would be greatly appreciated. From what I'm able to see, the file is a repository of anything and everything, a sort of Registry but without a logical classification system.
Your suggestions, insights and informations are more then welcome!

On the safer side i would suggest to take latest from VSS and recover your web.config. However i would recommand you to grasp thorough understanding of Web.config. It is must if you are into web delopment with asp.net. Internet is the perfact repository for finding information. At the moment i would just say that Web.Config is an organized configuration file which manages your settings and configration on differenct area of web site development.
Following list tells you about different section of configuration file.
- AppSettings : Handles custom settings in the form of name and value pair.
- SessionState: Session related settings.
- ConnectionStrings: An organized place for putting connection strings.
- CustomErrors: Centralized error manangement settings.
- Trace: Centralized location for application tracing.
- Providers: Different provider related settings like MembershipProvider, RolesProvider etc....
- Configuration and ConfigurationSection : Allow creating custom application specific settings....
- Etc...
One more thing
==============
If you install .Net 2.0, IIS gives you a UI for editing web.config file.
Hope this much information if okay for you to get started with the Web.Config

DIVs are better candidates so that the entire table is draggable. Check out the homepage of Inbox.com[^]

Using ASP.Net, C# and mssql, I have created a dataset which is displayed to the user in textboxes. How can I update the dataset and upload the dataset back into the database after the user has modified the textboxes and clicks a button to update the information?
|
|
|
|
|
Update the post back changes for each rows from the textboxes to your dataset
and then use the following code to update the changes to database
OleDbDataAdapter dataAdapter=New OleDbDataAdapter();
OleDbCommandBuilder builder;
dataAdapter = new OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM" + tableName;, conn);
builder = new OleDbCommandBuilder(dataAdapter);
dataAdapter.UpdateCommand = builder.GetUpdateCommand();
dataadapter.Update(updatedDataSet);
dataAdapter.Dispose();

hi all,
i need help about how to make my web site reads a different language like (arabic) cuz all it gives me just give me question marks instead of the proper characters

I have a base page class (BasePage) that all pages on my site inherit.
I also have a database abstraction class (DBClass) that I use to handle all interaction with my database. I have it set up so that when you create an instance of DBClass, it creates a connection to the database, and then all methods on that instance of DBClass use that connection to interact with the database.
So, my idea was to create a public property DB of BasePage that is an instance of DBClass. That way, the database connection will be open and available when the page is loaded and I should be able to make use of it for any calls to the database I might want when loading page content.
So far so good (although if you see any problems with the logic so far, please let me know).
However, now I have the following issue: I have a User Control defined on the page that has to make use of the database. I don't want to create a *new* instance of DBClass inside that user control; it seems like it would be better to just use the public property DB of the main page, that was already created.
But I can't figure out how to reference the page property DB from inside the user control.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Cast the Page property to BasePage.
---
b { font-weight: normal; }

I'm sorry if I'm being stupid, but could you walk me through that?
For example, I have tried this:
Public Class TitleControl : Inherits UserControl
Public Page as BasePage
Public Sub Page_Load(Source as Object, E as EventArgs)
Initialize(Page.DB)
End Sub
Public Sub Initialize(SourceDB as DBClass)
...
End Sub
End Class
And the compiler stops at "Initialize(Page.DB)" and says:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
However, the DB property of the page SHOULD be set to an instance of DBClass, since I do that in the Load() event handler of the BasePage class. And if I understand correctly, the Load() of a page happens before the Load() of the controls inside the page.
I'm probably doing the re-casting wrong, since Im' just guessing at the syntax for that.
Thanks for your help!

After Public Page as BasePage declaration Page is Nothing or null
You can't access Page.DB if Page is Nothing or null and System.NullReferenceException is thrown
|
|
|
|
|
The control has a property named Page. If you declare a variable with the same name, that will override the property. As you never assign any value to your variable, it will always be null.
Just use the property, and cast it to the class BasePage:
((BasePage)Page).DB
---
b { font-weight: normal; }

I have a class that uses string builder which produces a email body that is sent out by the system. My problem is that when i receive the email, random "! " characters are inserted into the text. If anyone out there has seen this problem before, let me know.
IM NEED A SOLUTION FAST

For additional information, i place a bunch of vbCRLF after every line and still end up with these random "!" and spaces.
Im also aware of projects migrating from IIS 5 to IIS 6 creates this problem. How can i fix it now

HI guys I have a bit of a challenging question for you one that has had me stumped for the last couple of days.
I'll give you concept behind this.
I am working on a system that is used within a hospital, and the situation I am currently working on kind of goes like this.
A patient may be able to visit a variety of doctors during the course of a treatment, Diagnosis etc .i.e Cancer patient.
Now lets say that all these doctors give a patient a document to read regarding the diagnosis results etc. Now if each doctor gave the patient the patient a piece of paper this is bound to get lost. So a posible solution to this dilema is that each department already has a "Standard" document that try give to patients with Dietary advice and some Tailored advice that give to the patient etc.
These documents are now currently kept as Word Documents on the Hospital network, but as you would expect with large systems these are scattered on various locations on the network. Before you suggest saving the Docs to the database, we can't do this as they still want the ability to update the documents without having to save them to a DB. I can get round this by storing virtual paths in a DB. Not desirable but works.
The proposed solution is to try and Merge all these documents into one Document on the server and print it out for the patient at the end of his examination.
The issue that I have is that as per MS you cant install and automate word on the server
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257757
So I can't have word on the server. Secondly we have a myriad of different versions of word on the network, and not one of them is Word 2003, hence no XML.
Thirdly the client cannot afford to pay for the purchase of third party software i.e Soft artisans office writer.
How am I going to solve this problem? So far all possible solutions I have tried are failing and I am looking for any other possible solutions.
