my idea abt this is :
we r planning for 3 servers
1. main database server
2. web server for wide view
3. local database server (including replication server for parrel access)
few part of the information like reports, status of the product is needed to access on web server.So, whenever there will be a requirment of reports then how will data diplay to the user. As reports generation would be on
crystal report. how the format will change from .mdb into .html.
I really dont have any experience in online, so might be i may sound stupid

Well, I think crystal reports can access mdb database, and if not, then you have to convert .mdb file to a DATABASE format it can read. HTML is only generated by crystal report so there is no reason to convert mdb to HTML.
Briefly:
you include CrystalReportViewer control into your ASP.NET page and then you link it with particular report, stored on your disk or in repository. CrystalReportViewer will get the data from data source specified in report definition and will render this report as HTML (or another output format).
You understood, that you have data in mdb format and you want to have HTML output, but between these two states, there is lots of work!! Browse to google and search for ASP.NET / Crystal Reports tutorials, as I see you have no idea what Crystal report is about

I didn't say that it isn't possible in C#.
I said that it isn't possible. Period.
An HTML document is not a suitable format to handle the kind of data that you have in a database. You can of course display data from a database in a web page, but that is not a conversion, and from what I have seen I don't think that is what you are looking for.
If you want to send data over the web, choose a format that is better suited for it, like for instance XML.

I think the problem here is that you really don't understand web technologies. I would suggest some reading before tackling this.
We'll have difficulty helping you for such a general problem.

Hi friends.
I have a problem to send mail.
I got following error.
A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host
SmtpClient smtp = new SmtpClient();<br />
smtp.Host = "68.16.152.154";<br />
smtp.Send(msg);
Pathan

Guess the smtp.Host should be "127.0.0.1" like the localhost
Hope this would help
Best Regards

I would be surprised if yes Unless Pathan has smtp server on his localhost. Obviously, ip address he specified is unreachable, it can be for several reasons. It can be misspelled, or can be behind proxy or firewall or something else.

Hi all i am stuck to small problem
i have values in the form of double such as 0.002354565767677
know i want to make it round figure 0.00236 upto 5 after decimal how to make ?
|
|
|
|
|
one method is use math.round
math.Round(dblvar,intDigits)
|
|
|
|
|
Use function Round(yourvalue,No of digits after decimal point)
|
|
|
|
|
Round(yourValue,"No of digits after decimal point you have required")
like
yourValue = 0.002354565767677<br />
afterDecimal =5<br />
Console.Write(Round(yourValue,afterDecimal))
Result is that: 0.00236
Enjoy

Hi,
Can you set up an HTTPHandler so that it operates conditionally? ie: to only kick in if the requested file _doesn't_ exist.
I'd like to be able to handle a request for a particular extension using the handler, but if the requested file exists show that instead. It seems that if you do the check for file existence within the handler and try a redirect or execute, it'll call the handler again and get an error.
Thanks In Advance

Hi,
Is it possible to share assemblies in ASP.NET apps without using the GAC?
I have two web sites which I want to share common code between :
ROOT
\site1
\site2
\common
...and I would like the bin folder in each site to be mapped to the 'common' folder.
I have tried the following:
- set up a virtual 'bin' folder, but the binder looks for assemblies by actual path, so doesn't find it.
- use a windows shortcut to the folder, but this is a 'lnk' file so is ignored
- use 'codebase' or 'probe' in web.config: this nearly worked;
- if I use ../common/app.bin it complains that the assembly is above the app domain root (fair enough)
- if I use an absolute web path it gives an 'HTTP download of assemblies has been disabled for this appdomain' error
I haven't tried explicitly loading the assemblies in code but I suspect it will result in the same errors as above.
The reason I need to do this is that the sites are hosted remotely and I don't have access to the GAC to install anything.
Is what I want to do possible, or am I barking up a non-existent tree?
TIA
Shaun

Hi,
I have problems with Session Time-out.
I need my Session to stay for more than an hour. For that, I have done the below things.
a) I have specified the timeout as 60 in the web.config of my application as below:
<sessionstate mode="InProc" stateconnectionstring="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" sqlconnectionstring="data source=127.0.0.1;Trusted_Connection=yes" cookieless="false" timeout="60">
b) In IIS, web-site's configuration settings also I have changed to 60 minutes.
c) Though its not required, I have also changed the timeout to 60 in machine.config as below:
<sessionstate mode="InProc" stateconnectionstring="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" statenetworktimeout="10" sqlconnectionstring="data source=127.0.0.1;Integrated Security=SSPI" cookieless="false" timeout="60">
Even though some times the session time-out is after 25 – 30 minutes and sometimes the session time-out was after more than 54 minutes.
Can any one give me any explanation for this unpredictable behaviour?
How to re-solve this type of situation. I dont want to change the sessionstate's mode other than In-proc.
Please help me in this regard.

Aren't you setting Session.Timeout property in your code somewhere? I think, when you call such an assignement, it results in lost of current session.
And you can lose your session when IIS or web application process is restarted.

You can set session time out in web.config file where you are defining connection string.
