Hi, here is my scenario...

i have the following in my solution...

App1 - normal application
App2 - normal application
CoreApp - library containing classes and 'core' functionality

App1 and App2 talk to each other via their sql server databases.

now, sometimes app1 and app2 may be installed on the same server, sometimes they are not.

so, if they are installed on the same box there will be a connection string to the other apps db in their web.config file.

if the connection string does not exist then i must call the other apps web service which will perform the db insert for me.

i made an interface, lets says its called IComms
this interface is implemented by the web service and the class that performs the direct insert.

it defines the method signature that allows app1 to put something in app2s database.

so to send a message i write this code in App2..

this is all very well, but the reference to app1s web service in app2 does not create an implementation of the interface on the proxy class.

is there any way round this or should i just design the app without the use of an interface?

Hello all

I am in desperate need of help with this problem.

I would like to do the following but can't figure out how to do it.

(This is the part I know how to do):

Present a ListBox which contains a items associated with a database table.

The user can remove items such that the listbox might contain less than all the items from the database table.

(I don't know how to do this part):

Present the items from the listbox in a datalist control using a objectdatasource, associated with some sort of select method in a BLL object, which will then work on a typed dataset.

I think it would be smart if I could give a collection of id's taken from the listbox, and send it as an argument to the select method in the BLL object. The select method should then return BLL objects, with all the data associated with the chosen id's from the listbox

Hope my describtion makes sence, and that you guys can help.

Hi Friends

I want to bind the String with the DataGrid , in such a way
that i have one string say "125:test" . I want this string to be bound with the datagrid , so that , each and every character , means
1 2 5 : t e s t , will store individually ,in the individual cell of the datagrid.

Hi,
You can create rows and cells using a loop where in you parse a given string and put 1 character in the cells text property. But please note that there will be problems if your strings are not of same length. If that is the case, you will have to enter the blank values in cells where there are less number of characters. Hope I am clear enough and the solution can be implemented Smile | :)

store the characters in a table (1 char per column), then databind it.

Hi,
I dont remeber but you can directly attach a string as a data source to a data grid as --

value = "123:test"
dataGrid1.datasource=value

here value is declared to be a string variable. I read it somewhere on the other forums here on CP (not able to remember the exact link)

But i dont think that this will work in case if multiple rows are needed. Dont know ! i havent checked it myself !

I have one datagrid.I have one string like value= "123;value".whenever I bind this string with datagrid like

datagrid.datsource=value
datagrid.databind

when my grid is displayed one character per cell.

But I want whole string in one cell.How can i do that?

Say that when you start "lststates.Items.Count - 1" = 10; this will be computed only once. When you remove an item it gets the index out of range. Try counting down from lststates.Items.Count - 1 to 0.

Once u removed the item from listbox u need to decrease the count (count--)to 1. because once u removed the item count will be reduced. i think below code would be helpful to u. the code which i added is put in bold and underline
