Do you really think it's a good idea to let a user type in a program which then runs on the server? I don't think you've fully thought this through.

Hi,
This is not a problem for me. this will be limited to 10 users only. so its better to give me any suggestion to execute an EXE from the web page.
I have done this through Process.Start method. EXE is running but not visible to the user.
Please help me
Thanks,
J

Why would the EXE be visible to the user. If you are compiling it up, then you are compiling it on the web server, and it will run there as well. So, they will not see it.

Hi,
Try to understand my concept I have to provide a web page where the user can write a program, compile it and then run it.
so while he running his program he should see the answer.
I tried to provide an IDE itself into the web page - I found difficult in this.
I tried to give a rich text box to write a CSharp program there - In this I can able to build the program but while executing the created exe... it is not visible to the user.
Thanks,
J

Hi - it's not the concept that I have a problem with. I get it.
Your architecture is this:
Web Browser with input box.
On some form of submission, the code is compiled up on the server and runs.
It runs as an executable (i.e. out of process) under the ASP.NET network client account on the server.
Of course it's not visible. It's an exe running on the server. What would you expect the user to see?
If I am missing something clever that you have done, please feel free to correct me, and to vote me down, but I fail to see what you think the user will see.

Hi,
You are comming to the appropriate point.
thats the problem for me. I have to put the EXE file (which is compiled in the server) in the client machine and execute the file from there..
is this possible?

Good news there. You can.
Here's the big hint. You can send lots of different things back to the web browser by setting the appropriate content type (application/octet-stream in this case I think).

Dear all
I could able to send the session values from parent window or browser to the child window or browser but vice versa(child to parent browser) was not possible. Is there any way to send values from child window browser to parent window browser. May be this is not possible using sessions. Please advice. I would be thank full.

hi,
If your data are not confidential then you can use some hidden text boxes and send them to the parent window using javascript.

like this
window.opener.document.forms[0].hdPNR.value= "SOme Value";
where hdPNR is a hidden field in parent window

Hello All,
I am using GridView Control of ASP.Net 2.0. The problem is I want to hide the column containing record Primary key and still want to access it on RowBound Property. If I hide Primary Key column then its values are no more accessible. Also please tell me if there is any ID attribute associated with BoundColumn of GridView as I did not find it any where. I do want to access columns not by index but by ID name.
Thanks in advance.

when u write a select command for ur grid for binding u can use datakaysname for ur primary key
write DataKeyNames="id" in html code where ur gridview created and then u can write:
datagrid.datakey["tbl_id"]
but u should write id in ur select
for example : select id,name, lname from aaa

Dear All,
I have a grid that has a clickable image in one of its column. When this image is clicked, the Detail form appears with number of text boxes. Now, for the first time, the detail form shows correct data related to the clicked record on the grid. The grid is updated and shows the updated values. Now if I try to change the same record, again the detail form appears but this time it shows older values, means somehow it is retaining its value.
For all the textboxes, I have set ViewState=false and AutoPostBack=false.
Thanks in advance.

Obviously you cannot mix two diffrent languages withing one project so you either need to create a new project which implements your 'date selection functionality' or you need to re-write the 'date selection' in VB. I think the last one is the best solution, because I think the best way to accomplish the date selection uses mostly client-side code, which will be exactly the same in VB and C#.
Just create two new web-forms within your VB project and copy the code and where needed, translate them, this cannot be a hard job to to for two relatively small pages.
By the way, what the hell means 'aur' ??

|
|
|
If you are using the ASP.NET 2.0 then you simply include the two web pages into your project as the new version of ASP.NET supports multi languages. If it's 1.1, you'll have to convert the code like someone said.

You can use window.opener to access the parent window.

I'm just looking at the cross page postback in ASP.NET 2.0, and all the examples do it by setting a property on a button, is it possible for a button to run a normal click event, and a cross page postback to be initiated in the event code ?
