how to handle the froward key and back key of IE when user is logout.
If user logout, but user can go to welcome page again using back key without
using login page.how to handle this.please help me to control this prob............

The first line is so that the user cnnot click on 'Back' Button.
The second line is so that the user must login again to gain access:
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
If Request.QueryString("Logout") = "1" Then
Session.Abandon()
Response.Redirect("URL")
End If
Logout Link: <a href="?Logout=1">Logout</a>

i have tried your code but below line dont work any other way to stop the back button?
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
|
|
|
|
|
The following code:
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
should be in the Page Load event. Is your in the Page Load event? :
Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load<br />
<br />
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
That's how my code is. If it doesn't work, then I'm not sure how to change it

Hi,
I am trying to summarise all the errors from all fields. For example, I have one Required Field Validator Control and one Validation Summary Control . The Error Message property for the Required Field Validator is "Invalid Date Format".
When an invalid Date is entered, BOTH the Required Field Validator Control AND the Validation Summary Control show the error.
I want THAT error message to show on the Validation Summary Control and NOT on the Required Field Validator Control . Any ideas?
Thank you.

|
|
|
|
make the RequieredFieldValidator Enabled=false
|
|
|
|
|
I set Enabled to False and that disabled the validation completely lol.
I discovered that all I had to do was add : Text="" and it worked!
Thank you for your reply
There is another problem now
I have 3 Date Fields. When one of them is invalid, ALL the error messages are displayed. I only want the erroneous one to display. The others are fine.
Any Ideas? Thank you.
EDIT: OMG! ALL three validators were validating the same textbox lol. What a noob mistake! It's sorted now. Thank you for all your replies!

Make errormessage property of required validator blank or give only space

If I do that, then the Validation SUMMARY will not show the message. I needed the message to be on the summary, but not the validation control itself. It's OK, I solved it now.. but I have another problem. Look above.
Thank you for replying.

How did you solve this, as i also need to work this way.
Thanks

Erhm, strange that the required field validator shows a message although the user did enter a value in the field... I think something else is wrong, since a required field validator should only show a message when the field is left empty.

I'm writting a custom databound control. If I a name a property "LegendStartupAnimationType" it will not be properly serialized/deserialized at design-time (at runtime it works ok). If I change any letter in the property name it works ok. What is really strange is that I found about 6 different property names that behave the same way, so I kind of rule out reserved words or anything like that.
Does anyone know what exactly is going on?

i have dropped a database with the query
drop database db_test
can i get back the db ? if so, how ?
Please help me, its urgent.
hello

First of all, that is not a smart think to do!!
In your best case, there's still an MDB file of the database somewhere on your harddrive which you can attach, otherwise I hope you've created a backup file, cause usually the drop statement really drops the database (and thus listens to your command).
Good luck!

Hi
I have a Web User Control (ascx) that sits on my Master Page. It displays a summary of what's in the user's shopping cart. I want the ascx's summary to update as soon as the current page makes a change to the shopping cart. I noticed that the ascx wasn't updating until the next page load after the one that updates the cart, because the code I wrote to display the summary was in the .ascx's OnLoad, and this fires BEFORE the Page's OnLoad (where there is code to update the cart). So I put the .ascx summary code in it's OnPreRender and now it updates as I want it to, because the ascx's OnPreRender fires after the Page's OnLoad.
Although this works it seems like a bit of a hack. Is this the correct way to update the ascx's contents, or is there some other better way of doing it?

I don't know if this is the best approach, but have your tried loading the control at runtime??
Replace the control on your website with a container (a panel for example) and let's assume you name the panel pnlCartContent.
<br />
Control ctrlCartContent = null;<br />
<br />
try<br />
{<br />
ctrlCartContent = LoadControl("relative/path/to/control.ascx");<br />
pnlCartContent.Controls.Add(ctrlCartContent);<br />
}<br />
catch (Exception ex)<br />
{<br />
response.write("Damn, those exceptions!<br>"+ex.Message);<br />
}<br />
Have fun!

Thanks for your reply Eduard.
This would seem to work too, but still feels like a little bit of a hack. I'll just use OnPreRender for now.
Cheers!
