Hi everyone,
I am using Sharpdevelop.
I have specified the icon of my app in the property inspector,
and it is showing correctly in the title bar of the app when
I run it.
But when I look at the executable in explorer, it is a dos window
exe icon.
How do I specify the icon so that it shows up correctly in explorer?

Sounds like you have set the 'forms' icon but not the app's icon

I don't use SharpDevelop so I don't know what step to take.
I can suggest this steps just from looking at a screenshot of SharpDevelop.
Try:
1. On main toolbar click 'Project' and then look for option.
2. In the 'Projects' dockalbe window right click on the 'solution' name and look
for options.
3. Google
Good luck.

First of all, you need to ensure the icon contains the correct icon formats. You have size and color settings to play with.
Most common sizes are
16 x 16
24 x 24
32 x 32
48 x 48
64 x 64
Colors are
16 colors
256 colors
16 bit colors
32 bit colors

you have to set the forms icon and app icon seperately.
You can set the app icon in the project properties somewhere.
good luck.

Hello,
I want to load an hierarchical view using two tables: Companies and users. There are about 25000 records in both tables.
If I use CreateChildView to retrieve the child rows for everycompany record, building the complete tree takes about 3 minutes (!!):
foreach(DataRowView dr in companiesBindingSource)
{
IList childs = dr.CreateChildView("Companies_Users");
}
However, when I use GetChildRows the same code only takes 80 ms:
foreach(DataRowView dr in companiesBindingSource)
{
IList childs = dr.Row.GetChildRows("Companies_Users");
}
Can anyone explain why there is such a big difference?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Shooting from the hip, I would say step back to your data adpter and fill it will both tables then set the relationship of your data view. (I know you can do this with a datagrid haven't done this with a data view). I just seems you are going the long way about.

I want to display a complete view at once:
Company 1
- User 1
- User 2
Company 2
- User 3
- User 4
etc.
Therefore I run through all parent records, fetch the children and store them both in a flat list. This is different from having two separate grids, one showing the parent records and one showing the children of the selected parent record.
Loading the data into the tables is no problem (calling Fill() only takes about 400 ms). Only building the view takes time when using CreateChildView instead of GetChildRows.

CreateChildView will create controls too I susoect. Have a look in Reflector what is happening inside those methods.

Reflector?
I never used it, where can I find this tool?

hi
my problem is the following:
i take one data row (BE.DSPedido.PedidoItemRow pedidoItemRow = dsPedido.PedidoItem[e.RowIndex]; )
then i change some of its values (eg: pedidoItemRow.DtConferencia = DateTime.Now; )
but after, when i test for its status, i get `unchanged` (MessageBox.Show(pedidoItemRow.RowState.ToString()); )
i haven`t done anything important between these statements (like a AcceptChanges() or something that would affect the row - except other assigments)
the problem is that when i call a GetChanges() operation in my dataset i get a null DataTable and i can`t persist the modified values in the SQL Server (it`s mapped through a DataAdaptor update command)
any hint?
thanks in advance :]

sorry, nevermind... i have solved it
i must call EndEdit() after i make all changes. :]

Hi folks,
I got a general question that I cannot find the answer for. Consider a 3-tier application architecture with a Web Service handling the business layer (BL) logic. The BL provides the client the facility to create/update/delete or query any given Employee account within the system. Each employee has got a username/password pair that's supposed to be stored in the *aspnetdb* database using the Membership API. The question is that how a client is supposed to create an employee account with one web method, and create a new user name with another web method, *transactionally* under a *stateless* web service???
[WebMethod] void CreateEmployee(Employee employee) { }<br />
<br />
[WebMethod] void CreateUser(string username, string password) {}<br />
How am I supposed to keep the integrity of the system? Maybe, you suggest the following WebMethod instead of those two:
void CreateEmployee(Employee employee, string username, string password) {}
However, this introduces a new bunch of problems under the UpdateEmployee/DeleteEmployee and the like methods.
What should be done to handle the issue rationally?
Thank you for your time,
Mehdi

Ooops! You simply didn't get my point. I didn't ask you how to develop a "secure web service"! I was just talking about ASP.NET Membership/Role providers and how to get the job done under a given transaction. It has got nothing to do with SOAP headers, nor the IIS A&A mechanisms.
Anyway, thanks.

Hi,
I'm having an ussue with populating the datagrid values for editing.I've three levels of data in the grid interlinked with Parent Child relationships.
I Level and II Level - Linked through ProductCode
II Level and III Level - Linked through RefID.
I could be able to populate the I level of record from datagrid.But I level can have any number of II level child records.I couldn't be able to populate the II level.I need to populate the III Level in another datagrid for editing.Can anyone let me know how I should proceed?
Any sample or article that could help me sorting out the issue?
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Deepa

Element Nodes in XML file have attributes associated with them.
I randomly select element nodes in an XML document after loading it using DOM class. The selected element node can have zero or more Attributes associated with it.
If selected xml node got attribute I displayed it in ListView.
Attribute Name: Being First ColumnHeader
Attribute Value: Being Second ColumnHeader
Name Item being label of listView can be edited if i enable "labeledit" in property of listView.
But Value under the subitem cannot be edited.
1. How can i simply edit both field using listView?
2. Is there any other control or method that will help me create 2 columns according to number of attributes and enable me to edit fields?
3. How can I edit listBox items? Is there any possibility of using it.
Your reply will be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

DataGrid, or GridView.

I don't think you can
