If D:\foo\foo.mdb is a network share.

I can tell you but it sound like you might be alittle new to this so do this
Google for 'C# MS Access Connection String'.
If you need somemore help, I will help you but see what you can find first then I give you a really big tip, I am working on an artical right now for this tip.
Searching on how to solve a problem is part of being a good developer.

and mapped that folder on the computer (MFA1) i use.
I read once that for Access database mapping to the folder did improve preformance when accessed of a network.
But from a programming view is would be better to use something like "\\MFA2\\foo\\foo.mdb".
Because you would want your app to be able to run on any machine. Mapped drive 'A' on your box my not be the same as mapped drive 'A' on the box down the hall. Did that come out clear or what? Also, do not code in the connection string. What if foo.mdb moves to another box?

Change the access level to allow the users you want.

You MUST let the users have Read and Write permissions to the same. If you don't give them Write access, you can't update the database, obviously.
That one of the limitations of Access, being that it is a file-based desktop database. It's not really optimal for multi-user access. Move up to SQL Server and you'll get much better performance and greater security options.

http://www.connectionstrings.com[^] is a good site to bookmark for connection strings. I has Access, SQL Server, MySQL, and many others.

Hello,
I would like to know differences beetween FormClosing and FormClose. I know that FormClosing is called before FormClosed but that's all. Does the context is the same ? For the application's objects is there some change ?
If you have some idea or internet link.

Thanks,
but I know that . My question is more accuratley about change for the object of the form. Maybe there is no change.
Are we sure to get all the objects of the fotm with FormClosed as with FormClosing.
Is the only difference between these two events the time event occurs ?

I have dynamically created the textboxes .Now I want to add a Requiredfield validator with a txtbox.
I am trying like this:
TextBox txtBoxReEnterPassword = new TextBox();
---Some other Code----
RequiredFieldValidator rfldValidator = new RequiredFieldValidator();
rfldValidator.Text = "Enter same Password";
rfldValidator.ID = "compvaldtor";
rfldValidator.ErrorMessage = "Enter Password";
rfldValidator.ControlToValidate = "txtReEnterPassword";
txtBoxReEnterPassword.Controls.Add(rfldValidator);
But it's not working.

What is the error you receive??
Nidhi.s wrote: txtBoxReEnterPassword.Controls.Add(rfldValidator);
You're not supposed to add the validator as control of the textbox, you should add the control to, for example, your form... this.Controls.Add();
further, the use if strings is a but... erhm... fault sensitive..
use ControlInstance.Name in stead of "txtReEnterPassword";

I think you need to tell the TextboxReEnterPasssword field to use requiredFieldValidator as a FieldValidationId. Try doign it first on Designview atleast you would know how it works and what are the parameters.

Hi all!
What is more effective from a performance perspective; finding an arbitrary tag in an xml-file by means of regular expressions or using the built in xml-support of .NET?
Thanks

in my listview if you double click an item, it checks or unchecks it. How can i capture the double click on an item and make it do something else?

Handle the DoubleClick event of the ListView.

Would this cancel the checking or unchecking of an item in the listview?

Have you tried it? If it does, handle it in your double click event.

Hi,
Im again here, the n00b. I have a strange problem now with Visual Studio, im working in design mode placing setting my Columns on a DataGrid and when i have it setup and goodlooking then I press F5 like usual :P and meanwhile my app starts running i saw in the back window Visual Studio changing Column positions again, it also happens when I edit for example the Expression of a Column in the Dataset view.
Anybody knows how to solve it ? due it happens everytime and everytime i had to re-sort the columns in design mode.
... many many thanx

Are you using AutoGenerated columns?
|
|
|
|
|
omg,
I never saw that option, where is it ?
Hope thats the reason,
thx
|
|
|

it's a property of the gridview.
MyDataGridView.AutoGenerateColumns = true;
|
|
|
|

Yes i saw it, and turned off at Form_Load, but cannot understand it, that means that when app is running it gets the columns from the ds and changes the design... weird tbh
Anyway, if it works, but i dont like it at all,
Edboe, if you come someday to spain take my word you will have a home in barcelona, you helped me a lot latelly...

It happens again, and also i checked in the code generated by VisualStudio and that property was false too. (
I just changed the headertext of a Column and then my 1st one becomes the 3rd. Why ????
