Hi all
How can I retrieve the last inserted record identity in Oracle. In sql server it's SELECT @@IDENTITY but how do we do it in oracle.
Thanks,
Dylan

One way is to create a SEQUENCE, cl_entry_seq, query this sequence for the next value, cl_entry_seq.nextval, and store this value into a stored procedure variable, v_entry_key by executing:
select cl_entry_seq.nextval into v_entry_key from dual;
Then you use the value of v_entry_key as your identity value in your INSERT statement.

Hello,
I am in the middle of a eLearning System project. Now I want to initiate a Video Conferencing system between 2 computers. What is the most efficient way of achieving this. I was looking at few options.
Should I use DirectX OR GDI+? Can I use Flash to do the same?
Thanks

I am trying to pass an array of strings from C# to the .NET component
I created in Matlab. I am getting a compile time error in Visual
Studio telling me that it can't convert a string array to a MWArray.
I have tried performing explicit conversions, but none of them work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here is an example of what I am trying to do:
[C#]
using MathWorks.MATLAB.NET.Arrays;
using MyMatlabNet;
...
MyMatlabNetClass myclass = new MyMatlabNetClass();
...
string [] mydata;
myclass.somemethod(mydata);
I have tried (MWArray), (MWCharArray), (MWCellArray) and nothing
works (allows it to compile).

You'll have to look through the MatLab documentation to see if there are any examples on how to convert .NET strings to MatLab ones.
I have no idea what I just said. But my intentions were sincere.

The issue is with passing an array of strings, not just passing a string. And I have already looked through the documentation, and that is why I am asking here.

I am trying to automate a process in which we access a web site with a digital certificate and login/password. A web form is filled out and then submitted. I want to do a web request (POST) to submit the information, but do not know how to use the digital certificate and login/password authentication in code. Anyone have experience with something similar?
Thanks

I'm trying to figure out how to change an object name based on a increment value in a loop. For example: I have a loop that iterates 10 times and I want a new object created during each iteration (object1, object2, ..., object10). Can I append the incrementer value to the name of it somehow? Thanks!

Surely this would be better done using a collection, which creates the object during the loop? Example:
ArrayList list = new ArrayList();
for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++)
{
MyClass classInstance = new MyClass();
classInstance.Id = i;
list.Add(classInstance);
}

Thanks for the response. Actually, I tried something similar to that previously, but what I'm trying to do is to create classInstance1, classInstance2, etc. I have to add these to a control and if they're not uniquely named, then the previous one will be overwritten. I hope this makes some sense - I haven't worked with C# in quite a while.

OK - the principal still stands. You are dynamically creating controls right? If so, you create the object as new object, and give it a new Name value.
MyControl ctl = new MyControl();
ctl.Name = "Name" + i;
Controls.Add(ctl);

As always, when someone tries to create variables dynamically; Why do you think that you need to do that?
Objects doesn't have names, a reference to an object may have a name. The reference doesn't identify the object, though, so there is no reason to have different names on the references in order to identify the objects.
Is there any property of the object that you need to give a unioque name? Like an ID property?

Are there any difference between event "Closing" from VS2003 and "FormClosing" from VS2005 ?
Because I just found something weird.
My Application :
private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Form2 form2 = new Form2();
form2.ShowDialog();
}
private void Form1_FormClosing(object sender, FormClosingEventArgs e)
{
MessageBox.Show("Form1 Closing");
}
private void Form2_FormClosing(object sender, FormClosingEventArgs e)
{
MessageBox.Show("Form2 Closing");
Application.Exit();
}
If I close Form2, the difference is:
VS2003 : It shows "Form2 Closing" then Exit.
VS2005 : It shows "Form2 Closing", "Form1 Closing", "Form2 Closing" then Exit.
???
|
|
|
|
|
My understanding is the Application class is doing the trick here.
If you see the Application class in VS2003 (Framework 1.1) you don't get the collection of all open forms, whereas Application class in VS2005 has a property OpenForms of FormCollection type.
Therefore when Application.Exit() method is invoked in VS2003 it will fire the closing event of only that form which has called the method.
Whereas in VS2005 when Application.Exit() method is invoked, it will try to close all the open form. (That is why the message "Form2 Closing" is coming twice in your case.)
I hope I am not going wrong! If so please let me know.

I'm using visual studio 2003 v1.1. I've to read a .DAT file into dataset using oledbconnection. The contents in the files are delimited by |. While i'm using oledbconnection and adapter to fill dataset i got an error "Syntax error in FROM clause". Any one pls help me to solve this

it is impossible to answer this without the most basic of information.
1) the connection string used for the oledbconnection
2) the select query actually being used for the select command filling the dataset.
A full trace of the exception would also be useful.

Hi,
I am new to windows forms prog. I want to use a drop down list in windows form like they do in web forms. I tried combobox and set its dropdown style to drop down list but when i try to bind data to it from a database by setting its datasource as ad dataset, i am seeing only this in the combo box.
System.Data.DataViewMember.
Please help...
If you fail for the first time , call it version 1.0.
|
|
|
|
|
It is fine upto setting the datasource of the combo box.
But Just by setting datasource, the combo doesnot understand which field of the table to be displayed.
For that you have to set the DisplayMember property.
The displaymember property will contain all the coulmn names of the table you have retrived in the dataset.
If you want to display some property (e.g. Name) and internally use another property (e.g ID) then you can set ValueMember property as follows
DisplayMember=Name;
ValueMember=ID;
Hope this helps.
