It works, just not the way you think it should.
C:\cd d:\mystuff<br />
C:\D:<br />
D:\mystuff {Your now in the d:\mystuff directory}
CD has worked this way for ever, well at least as long as I remember.
I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

Hi,
When I log into Windowes XP and click on my user icon, just before typing my password I see a small message just above the textbox that usually says "You have X unread emails"
Where on earth does Windows get this from? It certainly bears no relation to any email account I'm aware of...
Not important, just wondered...
cheers

Thanks.. I do you MSM but never noticed it relating to any missed messeges on that - perhaps it is in relation to my never used OE...
Anyway, like I said, it's mot important.. just one of those little irksomwe things that makes you wish Windows wouldn't always try to be so clever... (not that I should talk...)
cheers, F

Hi!
I have a restricted user under Windows XP and i would like to grant him permissions to manage web sites in his own machine using IIS 5.1. I don't want to add him to the power users or administrators group, just grant him permissions on IIS even if i have to create a new group such as Web Operator or something like that.
Does anyone knows how can i do this?
Thanks,
vSoares

In my opinion, you should try to check group policies in your windows xp whether it has any policies relate to your need and grand his user account in that policies.

You would have to use a custom Theme file. See: Vista Styles

Try to see the appearance tab of Desktop property.

Hallo,
wie kann man die UDP-Checksum Überprüfung unter Windows (oder für einen Port) abstellen?
Danke.

I am gonna translate that:
How can I disable UDP checksum verification for Windows (or a specific port)?
ahuizotl, in diesem Board wird eigentlich Englisch gesprochen. Deswegen bist du auch gleich als "nicht lesenwert" markiert worden, was dazu führt, daß du bei den meisten Usern gar nicht erst angezeigt wird.
Cheers,

I had worked out function hijacking mechanism by silvio and was successful except that as soon as i load the module the console is scrolling.But the problem i had is, I need the parameters of the hijacked function for developing my own function. Iam sending the code also
<br />
#define CODESIZE 7<br />
<br />
static char originalcode[CODESIZE];<br />
static char jmpcode[CODESIZE]=<br />
"\xb8\x00\x00\x00\x00" <br />
"\xff\xe0" <br />
;<br />
void modfun(unsigned int,int);<br />
<br />
int (*getkeycode)(unsigned int scancode)=(int (*)(unsigned <br />
int))0xc022fae0;<br />
<br />
int keycode;<br />
void (*kbd_keycode)(unsigned int keycode,int down,struct pt_regs <br />
*regs)=<br />
(void(*)(unsigned int keycode,int down,struct pt_regs <br />
*regs))0xc0230d30;<br />
<br />
int init_module(void)<br />
{<br />
printk(KERN_INFO "ENTERED INTO INIT MODULE\n");<br />
keycode=(getkeycode(0x1e));<br />
<br />
*(long *)&jmpcode[1]=(long)modfun;<br />
memcpy(originalcode,kbd_keycode,CODESIZE);<br />
memcpy(kbd_keycode,jmpcode,CODESIZE);<br />
<br />
return 0;<br />
}<br />
<br />
void cleanup_module(void) <br />
{<br />
printk(KERN_INFO "ENTERED INTO CLEANUP MODULE\n");<br />
memcpy(kbd_keycode,originalcode,CODESIZE);<br />
}<br />
<br />
void modfun(unsigned int keycode,int down)<br />
{<br />
printk("ENTERED INTO MODIFIED FUNCTION\n");<br />
<br />
if(keycode==30)<br />
memcpy(kbd_keycode,originalcode,CODESIZE);<br />
else<br />
printk("KEY IS NOT 'a'\n");<br />
}<br />
<br />
<br />
kbd_keycode is the first function to be called when we press a key.

Hello there,
I have the ubuntu 6.06 LTS live cd for the pc. I'm booting it from the cd and I'm trying to install it in my hard drive. The thing is, it can't see my hard drive at all. I put a usb flash drive and it sees it. I tried creating a partition with norton partition magic and I formatted it in ext3. Still can't see anything. Can someone help me with this?
I have a SATA hard drive with 5 partitions from which the one is ext3. The partitioning of the disk is made by the windows install cd..

You left out the most important info: what's the exact type of your motherboard, what kind of SATA controller does it have and how are the drives set up in the BIOS?
PS. the Ubuntu forums[^] are a better place to ask questions like this.
|
|
|
|
|
My mainboard model is 775Dual-VSTA.
I don't know about the controller. From the BIOS that I entered the only information I could find is that the SATA operation mode is "non-RAID" what ever that means.
I only have one hard drive, I don't know what do you mean..
It's on the primary IDE if that's what you mean
Sorry, I'm new at this !
I'll check the forums too, but if you know the answer please let me know

The CodeProject's primary area of support is dedicated to development on Windows platforms. Is this REALLY the best place to ask the question you are?

Then where should he post a question about Linux? I thought this forum was for any OS.

If it's only for windows why am I reading "Operating Systems / SysAdmin discussion board"?

I said it's primary area was Windows. I know if I was in your shoes, I'd be looking for a place that primarily supported the flavor of Linux I was installing. Do you think I'd be going to the Chevy dealership to get some help with my BMW?
