the error is :
visual studio.net cannot create or open the application. the likliest problem is that required components are not installed on the local web server.Run visual studio.net setup and add the web developemnet component.
this error occurs while opening a project which is downloaded from the internet.
also it occurs when I write a project in a computer and want to open it in another computer ...( both of the computers have visualstudio2003)
what Should I do?
where should I open or where should I copy the folder of the project..
thank you

ok, everytime you write a web application over VS2k3 it save the project over the server folder and the solution file is saved onto the user documents, if you using the default settings these folders are these ones.
Server folder C:/inetpub/wwwroot/YOUR-WEB-APP
the solution file is saved onto c:/C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My documents\Visual Studio 2003\Projects 'Im not sure about the last folder'
So , You have to keep the same structure (Even the application name) like the original developer Pc (This is mandatory for the project).
If you have any problems, try open the .sln onto wordpad and check the projects physical address.
Best regards.

the path is correct ...
I dont know what should I do

Try creating a blank solution, then add the project(s) to the new solution. If it's a web app, you need to set up IIS to recognize that directory as a web application.

Hi there! I've a solution containing 5 projects (Visaul studio 2005). When I use session.abandon to end the session in one project. Session in other projects are not ending. Although I've found a workaround by opening a window in each project and using session.abandon in each of them and closing them. But it looks not so elegant. Is there any better way of going about it?
Thanks in advance

The session is local to the web application. If you have separate web applications, they have separate session objects, so they have to be handled separately.

Hi , i am exporting datagrid to excel sheet..
Here is no problem at all,as far as i dont allow paging for datagrid.
But if i allow paging to datagrig, it doesnt work properly.
The error comes while exporting data to excel sheet.
I am sending my code as follow :
-----------------------------------------------------------
Response.Clear()
Response.AddHeader("contentdisposition", "attachment;filename=FileName.xls")
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.msexcel;charset=windows-1251"
Response.Charset = "UTF-8"
Dim stringWrite As System.IO.StringWriter = New System.IO.StringWriter
Dim htmlWrite As System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter = New HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite)
DataGrid1.RenderControl(htmlWrite)
Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString())
Response.End()
-----------------------------------------------------------
when i use paging in my datagrid, and in debug mode , when i try to find the value of StringWrite object, it shows nothing in it... and fires an error..

I have no idea what you mean.
What do you mean by "But there only come first value, not other". What exactly are the values, and what exactly do you want to do with them? (Yes, I know you said you were storing them in a string. But for what purpose?) And how are you receiving the values?

From where r u taking those values ?
Plz. give details

It is very difficult to answer if you do not give details as others have also told.
In general I can say that use a DataReader and then iterate on it, to get the values into string using concatenation. If the list of values in large, use StringBuilder for optimization.
Please give some more details of your problem.

Ok so I have an aspx page with a function in the backend aspx.vb page to display a div(has to be done server side) I have a usercontrol on the page which contains a grid. Now onclick of a button on the grid in the usercontrol, I want to call the function on the main page from the usercontrol. Is there an easier way than to make the function on the main page a shared function, this seems messy, could I somehow use the parent attribute??
Thanks a mil in advance

You should be able to access page containing user control as this.Page , cast it to type of your page and then you can call its public methods.

That is excatly what I was looking for, Thank you very much dnh, but I think you have to use Parent.Page for the usercontrol and not this.Page, maybe that is just for my case but anyway thanks again

cullyk wrote: think you have to use Parent.Page for the usercontrol and not this.Page
hmm not really, Control.Page[^] property really points to aspx *page* where your user control is, on the other hand Parent points to control that directly contain your user control, e.g. if it is in Placeholder , Parent will be that placeholder. They both should have same Page ...
