Thanks.
MyThread is a Background thread. i.e. MyThread.IsBackground = true;
But still it prevents me from shutting down windows.

That's really wiered!! Are you sure there are no other foreground threads active beside that one? Also does your thread keep running after your closed your program normally?

I have a child form that acts as a login prompt. When the login button is press it should open up another child form. which process the login information. For some reason i cannot call a child window from a child. Below is what i have (mainFrm being the parent form and functFrm being the other form i'm trying to open).
private void butLogin_Click(object sender, EventArgs e){
mf = new mainFrm();
Functions functFrm = new Functions(user, pass, host);
functFrm.MdiParent = mf;
functFrm.Show();
}
Could someone point me in the right direction. Thanks

Try replacing
functFrm.MdiParent = mf;
with
functFrm.MdiParent = Me.MdiParent;
|
|
|
|

that didn't work either. it wont even compile. i also tried
functFrm.MdiParent = this.MdiParent
also i tried passing the form to the mainFrm class and creating it as a child
private void butLogin_Click(object sender, EventArgs e){
functFrm = new Functions();
mf = new mainFrm();
mf.ShowMdiChild(functFrm);
this.Dispose();
}
public void ShowMdiChild(Form childForm)
{
childForm.MdiParent = this;
childForm.Show();
}

i figured it out thanks,
private void butLogin_Click(object sender, EventArgs e){
functFrm = new Functions(txtUserName.Text, txtPassword.Text, p_host);
functFrm.MdiParent = this.MdiParent;
functFrm.Show();
}

How should I specify the string to check if a file exists on a different pc? I have tried this string: "machineName\\C:\\Program Files\\MyFolder\\myFile.txt" and I get a NotSupportedException saying that the given path's format is not supported. I passed the above string into a new FileInfo instance. Any help would be appreciated.

hi,
you dont need the colon ':' sign after "c" and your c drive must have been shard to use above path.
try again after these checks plz.

Assuming that you have the correct privileges on the other machine, you could always use \\machinename\c$\

I have been having this problem for sometime now and decided to finally ask about it.
I keep getting a Compilation Error saying that a certain dll cannot be found. The problem is it's not looking in my root directory it's looking inside c:\windows\Microsoft.Net\1.1.***\Temporary Internet Files\"client name"
It is not only keeping me from testing it, it is keeping the client from viewing it as well. What needs to be done to stop this from happening?
It seems like IIS might be the problem. Can anyone shed some light on this please?
Take a look at the screen shot to see what I mean.

Have you tried putting the DLL in the bin\ directory of the web application?
|
|
|
|
|
yes that is where they all are. For some reason its not looking for that dll there, its going to the temp folder. I am not sure if ASP.Net copies all files to temp before viewing or what. but those files are in my bin folder.

Very thankful for any hint or guidance.

You can do clipboard operations using the System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard class. Undo and redo: search this site's articles, I believe Marc Clifton has a good article about created an undo/redo stack.

You could use serveside code to do it insteed. But this will incur a roundtrip/postback to the server. If your posting back anyway you might as well use the serverside method.

It should be
yourbuttonname.Attributes.Add("OnClick","_Wait()");
protected void yourbuttonname_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
Label13.Text = TextBox1.Text;<br />
}<br />
Hope this helps

Was that _Wait() function even called? Where is that script located? In head? Do you get any javascript errors in browser? Is that label's id really "Label13"? Could be as well someControl$ctrl00$Label13 or something...
