I have an error class in my asp.net with c# project. It is responsible for handling errors.
Could I handle it, when any exception raises, my class method raise?
If yes, tell me how?
Thanks

Add a Global.asx file to your application. Put your code in the following method.
void Application_Error(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
// Code that runs when an unhandled error occurs
}

I know application error event.
But there is a problem with it. I should just redirect to another page in this event else, the page which error is raised, will be redirected to error page. But I’d like my old page is still shown. And I show the error in another page. I know that I should write in this event:
Response.Write("window.open('errorpage.aspx')");
But the page that error raises from that will be still redirected to error page or ASP.Net default errorpage. What should I do to prevent from this redirection?
Thanks

In your web.config file add the following.
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"></customErrors>
|
|
|
|
|
As I mentioned, if I set this tag off, the asp.net shows the error in old page.
But I want the old page still be shown.
If you get confused, plz read my first and second message again to find out my question correctly. I should clear asp default error and show my old page. But how? Server.clearerro() method just clear the asp error but my old page never be recovered.
thanks

Hi,
I have successfully bound a Dropdown List with table data. I have also inserted extra options. I cannot seem to find anything which allows me to have one of the database options being the default value selected.
I know I can do this:
Dim Lst As New ListItem
Lst.Text = "All"
Lst.Value = "0"
Lst.Selected = True
BUT, How do I specify the SELECTED value to be one which was loaded from a database?
Thank you.

dropdownlist.Items.FindByValue("value") gives me item in C#, i think you can find that in VB too and then set LstItm.Selected to true.

I'm having a problem with using AJAX with classic ASP
I have a dropdown for country which when selected shows the state.
But when, I'm using the AJAX script the "xmlHttp.responseText" actually shows me the HTML code and the client script of the entire page which is not desirable.
Can anyone send me the code for populating one dropdown based on the selection of another dropdown in classic ASP and AJAX.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks & regds,
Anirban Deb.

Hi,
I need to use a Custom Validator to check whether data is present in a Textbox or not. I am using a custom validator because the field is only required IF the user logged in is from a certain user group.
Anyway.. The OnServerValidate method only fires up when data is present in the textbox. I NEED the method to also fire up when data is not present.
Any ideas? Thank you.

Have you tried it with ValidateEmptyText = true?
|
|
|
|
|
For some reason my custom validator is not recognising the ValidateEmptyText Property.
Im assuming this is not to be implemented in the Front-End. I am trying something like:
Me.cst1.ValidateEmptyText = True [Doesn't Work]
Dim cst1 As CustomValidator<br />
Dim blnStatus As Boolean<br />
blnStatus = cst1.ValidateEmptyText<br />
cst1.ValidateEmptyText = blnStatus
Still has problems. Any suggestions? .. still
Thank you once again for your time.

You can't pass the actual array from server code to client code. You have to create client code that recreates the array.
diya_dev wrote: its in asp and not asp.net
Then you should post in web development forum, not the ASP.NET forum.

Unless you want to pay me, I reply when (and if) I feel like it.

HI, is there a ASP.NET equivalent for PHP's echo command?
Or else is there a way to write on a web page without using a label or a textfield?
Thanks for any reply!!

You can do like this:
<%=someVariable%>
However, if you use that your code quickly gets a mess of page level variables that you assign a vaule in one place and use in another place.
You don't have to use a label or textfield to display values in the page, you can use any server control you like.
A Literal control is useful if you want a control that does not add any html to what you put in it:
<asp:Literal id="objInfo" />
objInfo.Text = "Hello world!";
This will put the text "Hello world!" in the page where the literal control was. There is no span tag added around the text.
A PlaceHolder is useful for adding controls to the page:
<asp:PlaceHolder id="objContainer" />
objContainer.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl("Hello world!"));

i want to add a regular expression to validate the user input to be only in currency formate

Hi mate,
The best way forward for all those kind of validators is using a regular expression validator:
<asp:regularexpressionvalidator>
Look it up. It should be quite easy. There is a "ValidationExpression" property where you are supposed to input a complex expression which validates the input of Currency/Date/Time/Datetime/Numbers/Strings/Anything!
Visit http://regexlib.com.DisplayPatterns.aspx
It's a good site.
