This sounds more like a permissions problem on the target computer than a programming or installation problem. What OS is it installing to?
Win2K has caused me some headaches after installing even commercial MS products. Only an Admin can install them, but after I did an installation for the user and had the owner log in, the app went away. Locating the program was no problem, but I had to manually change the permissions for each app to allow users to open them.

Thank you Roger Wright!
I'm using win2k. I'm in doubt of what place I have to write the key (used by Visual Basic Installer) on the register. Using Visual Basic Installer you have some options like that, and in addition I dont know if version of win2k I use have some restriction about that.

In Win2K only local administrators can modify the Registry. Whoever installs the app will have to have admin priveleges, then after installing will have to set permissions for users manually. I'm sure there's an easier way, but I haven't found it.

I have a Ocx component .. how can I create a Array of this component ?
|
|
|
|
|
You just declare an array of the type of your OCX.
For instance :
Private m_MyActiveXArray(size_of_your_array) As MyOCXLib.MyActiveX

Hi, I using a Ocx component to make Sockets UDP Conections
I need to pass any CONSTANT values to OCX to start conection ..
SOCK_STREAM .. etc ..
What Library I need to include ?? How can I do this Using VB .NET
Tks

You may just need to include the correct namespace for your project. Try adding System.Net.Sockets to gain access to socket methods and properties within your application directly.

Does Anyone know what is the equivalent c++ command "continue" in VB?
|
|
|
|

There isn't one. Either restructure the logic inside the loop, or use a label and Goto.

How can I use sockets in VB ..
I am trying to use WinSock.ocx but appear the follow message when I try to put the component in the Frame
"You do not have a license to use this ActiveX Control"
I am using Visual Studio .net Beta Version
are there another free component that can I use to send UDP packages ?
|
|
|
|
|
If you are using .NET, then you should check out the .NET Framework for socket classes, rhater than using the OCX.

One method is to create pictures that can be used as the background pic of your forms. I recently used this for developing a software where the clients demanded a slight fancy look. Also instead of the VB buttons, I used image controls. The button movement was implemted using a combination of mousedown and mouse up events. For this you will need an up image and a down image of the button. BTW, I think bmp format is compulsory.

Hi .. I am a Visual C++ programmer, I never write a program using VBasic, I am trying to use a ocx component, if I want to use this component I need to capture Events .. using C++ I use the follow code
BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP(CAVVCppDlg, CDialog)
ON_EVENT(CAVVCppDlg, IDC_VIDCAP1, 1 /* Frame */, OnFrameVidcap1, END_EVENTSINK_MAP()
The Events is captured and execute OnFrameVidCap1 Function
How can I do this VB 7 ??
|
|
|
|
|
in ocx controls u define one variable as event.
Eg.
Private Event myEvent 'where Event is the reserved word and u can also pass parameter and even create parameter list following the reserved word Event then u can raise this event in the code wherever u want by adding foll code
RaiseEvent myEvent
thats it

I have got a textbox that I want to limit to numerical values.
How do I prevent the user from entering text?
I have set the DataFormat property to "Number", but that doesn't do it.
Cheers,

Hi..
Try this:
add an event handler to the KeyPress event of the text box:
<br />
Private Sub text1_KeyPress(KeyAscii As Integer)<br />
If Not (KeyAscii > 47 And KeyAscii < 59) Then<br />
KeyAscii = 0<br />
End If<br />
End Sub<br />
the code above checks the ascii code of the character and validates the range
and sets it to 0 if out of the range of numbers.

You know. I'm surprised that Nish hasn't jumped in and said to use ShellExecute(..)... I know it's C++ but if you just search at MSDN you'll probably find something.

u have to use Shell Function in order to execute an exe and u use Command Function in order to get the return value from and even pass value to the exe.
