I'm planning on using inpout32.dll and I want to control some LEDs, but this is how i want todo it. Im using a program already that sets the bits on/off for the LEDs to be on/off.. Now in this new VB program I want to just turn off 1 of the LEDs of my choice and leave the others as-is. How would I do this? I don't know much about parallel port access. Thanks in advance

Dim string 'filename you want to play with<br />
ResultingString = string.remove(string.indexof("."), string.length - string.indexof("."))
Alternatively:
Dim i As integer = string.indexof(".")<br />
Dim x as integer = string.length - i<br />
<br />
ResultingString = string.remove(i,x)

that did not make much sense, as i understand it you want the @ symbol and all after it removed. To do this, you can use the code i gave you, the second set of code. Just replace the "."code> with <code>"@" . That should work. If this is not what you wanted, please take the time to carefully explain what you mean.

This is very easily done using the <a href="http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.path.getfilenamewithoutextension.aspx">Path</a>[<a href="http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.path.getfilenamewithoutextension.aspx" target="_blank" title="New Window">^</a>] class and its GetFileNameWithoutExtension method.

Description -
QuizMaster is a software developed for testing one’s knowledge through computer based quizzes and analysis of the results. It is very dynamic and interactive in nature. The user can create different quizzes and add as many number of questions as he/she wants. The question can be later edited/deleted too if required. One can also add comments to the quiz banks created. This will help quiz maker add tips for the quiz takers. All questions are objective type. Scoring pattern can also be altered to allow negative markings.
As such QuizMaster comes out as an essential tool for CAL(Computer Aided Learning).

Hi,
I have a small MS Access database that keeps a log. When I write the current date and time to the table it only shows the date in the table. I checked the table with zoom and it's just the date that's in. The time seems to be gone?
My code is something like this
OleDbCommand.Parameters("LogDate").Value = System.DateTime.Now
In my app it shows like it should, but not in the database.
Any suggestions on how to get the time in MS Access?

Sounds like it works. Have you tried expanding the field in the database when viewing it?

use format command format(logdate,"dd/MM/yyyy MM:HH")
|
|
|
|
|
Been there, done that
Here's what I did.
Making sure the LogDate field in the database is text
<br />
OleDbCommand.Parameters("LogDate").Value = System.DateTime.Now.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss")
LogDate looks like 2006-12-27
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Making sure the LogDate field in the database is Date/time with standard date time notation
<br />
OleDbCommand.Parameters("LogDate").Value = System.DateTime.Now.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss")
LogDate looks like 27/12/2006
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Making sure the LogDate field in the database is Date/time with the following notation dd/mm/yyyy hh:nn:ss
<br />
OleDbCommand.Parameters("LogDate").Value = System.DateTime.Now
LogDate looks like this 27/12/2006 00:00:00
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The last one gets me confused. Where did the time go?
|
|
|
|
|
Oeaah, stop the press, I got it
OleDbType of the Parameter must be 'DBTimeStamp' and System.DateTime.Now must be set to a string variable. The field format of the database can stay standard date-notation.
ex.
strTimestamp = System.DateTime.Now
OleDbCommand.Parameters.Add("Time", OleDbType.DBTimeStamp)
OleDbCommand.Parameters("LogDate").Value = strTimestamp
Succes at last.
A hand of applause for me.
Thank you, you're to kind.

Hi.
I have to create parser(s) that will be able to parse xls, csv and txt files. All the files to parse are data from customers which has to be parsed, massaged and inserted into the database. The problem is that each customer presents its own format so I guess I have to build different parsers for each customer.
Did anyone have any experience with this? What would be the best approach? What should I use (beside VB.NET)? Any examples will be appreciated as well.
Thank you,
Alex.
