I have a problem in my project, and it make me don't know where to start!
I create a LAN, but One machine runs MS Windows, and the others runs MSDOS. Each of them have a NIC, and link by BNC connectors.
I want to write two programs.
One run in Windows, and one run in DOS. But what protocol should I use for the communication.
if anyone know about it, please send it to me! (documents or programs)
thank for your support!

Well...what protocols did you configure on your LAN, because how they communicate greatly depends on what protocols are available.

I have a screen divided into two and each side has a different base class. I want asociate the action of te tree control (left side) so that it reflects on the right side (a listView or rich Edit).

You need to catch actions on the tree ( probably with a CTreeCtrl derived class ) and send them to the other view.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean...you have a message id returned from RegisterWindowMessage, and you want to determine at run-time which method you want to call? The easiest way would be to trap the message in PreTranslateMessage(), and send it on from there. Or you could simple send the message on from the function you originally designated to trap your message. Or have I misunderstood your question?

Hi. How can I fill in Rich Edit Control with the contexts of a Text file before showing this control. This control presented this error : "Failed to create empty document".
|
|
|
|
|
The Rich Edit Control doesn't give that message, the MFC Document/View framework does, and it has nothing to do with the control.
I really don't even know where to start, since you seem to lack even a basic understanding of Doc/View. I would suggest following the scribble tutorial before trying to go any further in what you're doing.

How can i change a Unix file into DOS file. What is the commando or sentence in VC++ that does this? Thanks
|
|
|
|
|
There is no "command" to do this. If you are absolutely certain the file will always be a unix file, you can open the file in binary mode, read it into memory, then write it out in text mode. This will do the translation for you. An alternative would be to open both input and output files simultaneously, read a chunk at a time from one into the other, and when finished, delete the original file and rename the new file to the old filename.

I wan't to do some work in CMyApp::InitInstance. The program is dialog-based. I thought a nice ideá was to bring up a modeless dialog to show a progressbar and som other things. The only sad thing is that the dialog doesn't respond to events at all if it is the only window. If I frist create a modal, and later the modeless, it's fine.
Does anyone know how to handle this without creating a worker thread?

Hi,
I want to build a Windows NT/2000 Service that has a COM interface I can access using .ASP and preferably uses MFC. What I need this service for is to track transactions from my web page, and at the same time, have a dialog that I can view the current status of the users logged in. I would also like to be able to minimize the status window to the system tray, which is one of the primary reasons I want to use MFC, since that is the only way I know of how to do it. If anyone knows of a sample program I can look at, or can direct me to a website with all this information, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if this is the wrong newsgroup to be posting this, please let me know.
Thanks

Service with a window ?? Don't know
to track transactions from your web page , it sound like you should be looking for an ISAPI extension
"
Working with COM interfaces under ISAPI requires some consideration of the Internet Information Service thread pool architecture.
IIS maintains a pool of I/O threads that are used to call an ISAPI's callback functions. It is possible that the thread which calls your initialization code in DllMain or GetExtensionVersion will not be the same thread that calls HttpExtensionProc. It is also likely that different threads will call HttpExtensionProc from one request to another.
It is important, then, to note that COM initialization affects the thread in which it is called. For this reason, you should never initialize COM within CoInitialize or CoInitializeEx unless you will be uninitializing it before your callback function returns.
As a result of this architecture, you have three design options to use COM from ISAPI.
You can do all of the initialization and uninitialization from within HttpExtensionProc for each request.
You can avoid initializing COM. This will allow your ISAPI filter or extension to run in a multithreaded apartment because IIS initializes one of its threads at start time.
You can create your own pool of threads and initialize them when the ISAPI extension is loaded

Check the last-modified date on your header files, especially stdafx.h. Something may have glitched and set the date/time to a time in the future.

Thanks - all my files thought they had been created in 2020. I found a shell extension that allowed me to change them all and now all is fine...

Just for anyone else who may be wondering where to find such a shell extension... You can get DateEdit at:

Hi.
I need to execute a bat file (don't ask why, it's a long and sad story) from within my program.
I'm using CreateProcess(...) to start the bat file and WaitForSingleObject(...) to wait for it to finish.
Well, a dos box opens, the bat is executed, but when the bat file has done it job it just writes: "Finished - Foo.bat" in the title bar. Nothing happens until the user closes the dos box.
How to I avoid that?
I know that I could create a pif file with "Close on exit" enabled but is there another way?
Thanks
/Henrik

I don't know if this works, but it may be a solution:
Execute "command /C <batname>" instead of the batch itself. This is for windows 9x, in windows NT/2000 you have to replace "command" through "cmd /X".
But there should always be another way than executing a batch.
