Hello.
I would like to give my user the option to browse his files (like the simple fileUpload control do) and after selecting the file (and when the fileUpload control hold in his text box the full path and file name) I want to press another button and get the path+file name as a string.
I want to do this with out actually upload the file. I use the fileupload just for his browsing option.
the problem is that after selecting the file, the fileupload have a property called "fileName" that only return the file name and not the path.
Also, if i type a file name myself and not choosing it with the browse - It doesn't even recognaize it as a file name.
Any help?
How can I have a simple browsing control that save path+file name?
thanks!

Have you tried this?:
ASPX:
<asp:FileUpload ID="FileUpload1" runat="server" />
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" /> CODEBEHIND:
FileUpload1.Attributes.Add("onChange", "document.Forms[0].TextBox1.Value=document.Forms[0].FileUpload1.Value");

Hi.
Thanks for the post.
I Found a better solution.
I tried the "fileupload1.filename" and what I should have tried was "fileupload1.postedfile.filename".
That do the trick
smart and simple
Thanks again.

I have HTML content/text in a string variable and i want to print that
(which looks like the one that appear on the browser).
I found the below code in Code project only and i used the same:
using HtmlPrinter;
HtmlPrinter.HtmlPrinter hpobj = new HtmlPrinter.HtmlPrinter();
hpobj.PrintHtml(txtString.Text,true);
But it is not workin for me. It is giving the following error:
"ActiveX control '8856f961-340a-11d0-a96b-00c04fd705a2' cannot be instantiated because the current thread is not in a single-threaded apartment."
How can i fix this bug? What did i miss here?
Any work arounds please...
Really appreciable if you can help me...

Hi,
Why don't you try using DHTMLEditClass and set the DocumentHTML property with the HTML text you are having.
You can then make use of PrintDocument method and pass 1 as a ref parameter to show the print dialog.
You can get some help from MSDN as well.
Hope it solves all your issues.
Thanks

Hi
Guys can any let me know any tool that can monitor my live application on live server and let me know about the number of users accessing the application at a time and response time each user is getting from the server, rplay me ASAP , thankx in advance for ur help.

Well, this is exactly the type of thing that performance counters are designed to do. You can use PerfMon to monitor remote machines (as long as you have acccess rights), and you can even add your own performance counters to the ones available.

go for server.transfer instead of using AJAX.
Ajax is not designed for this purpose. Remember Master Page is not like a static page which can persists while content pages keep changing. Every time a content page is requested master page in initialized and merged with the content page.

I am creating a custom web control. When I render the control I am writing out a URL. However, if the URL is written in the form ~/Default.aspx it doesn't get converted like other controls. How do I convert the tilde notation properly in my custom control?

Hi,
I'm presently using asp:datagrid control for displaying some data from a table.
But I don't want to continue with this process. I want to have complete control
over the process, like in J2EE where I can populate my result-set and display
what I want, where I want and however I want.
What I mean is: Let's say my table has four columns, and I make four corresponding
variables ASP.NET C#. Now, in a loopy fashion, I want to iterate through my
table as long as there are more rows to be fetched, and each cycle of the loop should
change the values of those C# variables.
(J2EE guys, remember this? -->
while (rs.neext())
{
do_something_baby;
}
I want this in ASP.NET C#.
Sounds archaic? I know, but it's totally fat free, unlike the asp datagrid control.
Any help anyone?
Thanks
ASP - AJAX is SEXY. PERIOD.
