Mono is the only port of C# that exists. I don't think it has a GUI library. I doubt you can do this.

Hi coders
I'm working on a project, where I'm to do some calculations on sound-data. I have no problem playing the sound and so on. But I can't figure out how to retrieve the amplitude samples and put them into an array so I can do my calculations. Is there please some how can help me or give me som hints...

Hi ,
In one of the modules of my application I am using the implicit Transactionscope object for insert /updating Data to a SQL Database ..
This are the code lines wherein I define the scope .
using (TransactionScope addEditscope = new TransactionScope(TransactionScopeOption.RequiresNew, new TimeSpan(0, 5,0)))
If everything works fine I call the complete method for Commiting the transaction else I throw an exception whereby the Transaction gets rolled back & also since the Transaction scope is completed , The transactionscope object gets Disposed. (I have checked it & there is no instance of any Transactions shown) ...
I also have a Linked Server to an Access Database for populating a Dropdown list .
The above two functinalities are handled in two different methods ...
But unfortunately when I try to populate the Dropdownlist I get the following error :
Cannot start a transaction for OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "ExternPopup".
I am nowhere using Transaction while Fetching data for the dropdownlist ...
The movement I remove the above Transactional code Everything works fine ...
Please help

That's an interesting issue you bring up. TransactionScope does a lot behind the scenes to manage transactions and whatever it sets up the first time it's used is probably going to stick around since you're on the same connection. You could try opening up another connection to the same database and trying to get your list. If that doesn't work, try rearranging the items in the connection string (IIRC ADO uses the connection string to handle pooling and it could be as simple as rearranging the string to open up a distinct connection instead of getting the existing one from the pool).
But, for a "non-kludgey" solution, maybe you could write a stored procedure that will contact your linked server to pull the data. If you're already doing this, I believe there may be some settings you have to put on the link to make it capable of participating in transactions. I've had a problem before with linked servers where my stored procedure would fail in the application when it called the linked server but worked just fine in query analyzer. The solution I found was to use ODBC.

I could fetch the data without any problem ..

When I select an item in the list view I'm using the SelectedIndexChanged procedure to run some code. At the end of the code I would like the cursor to be be put in TextBox TB1. When I use TB1.Focus() the system still keeps the items in the ListView Selected to have the focus. If through the code I change the selecteditem everything works. The problem is when the user clicks the item.

There is a webserver "windows server 2003" on local network. It has VS2005 with SP1 and latest updates for win server 2003.
This server also has IIS.
The webservices that are created in .net 2.0 are sitting in this server (virtual directory).
Using a client workstation (development machine), I can pipng the ip address of the webserver.
The problem is when trying to add webreference to these webservices in web server. i.e. http://webserverName/CodeServicces/intest.asmx
The client gives an error as follows:
The proxy settings on this computer are not configured correctly for web discovery.
Server Error in '/' Application.

Check the spelling of the URL. Both the URLs look like they are misspelled. If it's misspelled on the server, you have to use the same spelling when accessing it.

I want to edit the picture on the picture box imamge and want to save it...... How can I do this???????????? Can anyone tell me????

There seems to be a constant stream of people who mistake a picture box for an image editor. If you want to do this, you need to write your own code to do it, and you won't want to use a picture box to do it.

U want 2 say If I want to edit picture I should draw the image instaed of using picturebox...... AM I right .... Okay then can u tell me how can I edit on run time on the image already drawn ...... Any help or article over it...... I have seen ur articles abt image processing they helped me in processing the image but I cant edit them or draw another image on it.........

I would recommend getting yourself to a good bookshop and seeing what books they have on C#. I have Microsoft's 'Visual C# 2005, Step by Step , Microsoft Press 2006 (isbn-10: 0-7356-2129-2, isbn-13: 978-0-7356-2129-9) and found it very helpful, unlike C# 2005 For Dummies, Wiley Publishing, 2006, it's CRAP!

There are plenty of books. You will also need to determine which way you want to go: Winforms or WebForms.
I recommend Wrox beginner books. Pretty well laid out.

Get a job where you are required to program in it, that's how I am, ummm, learning. Of course, buy book 3 days before with a trial visual studio version included and try out a couple of examples first 
ok, so I'm not being useful, sorry.
Actually, when I was looking for books, they all seemed to be entirely about GUI stuff, or entirely NOT about GUI stuff, there wasn't really anything that seemed to talk about both. This was from a limited selection though. Plus, the books that talked about the basics were WAY too simplistic. Yes, I wanted to know the basics, but I didn't want to spend a whole chapter on each item. I got it after the first paragraph, thanks. But the harder books didn't include any basics so I had no idea what they were talking about.
Of course, if you are new IN PROGRAMMING rather than just new to C#, maybe you won't have that last problem; maybe the basics will require more than a paragraph to get.
Get a book, try some stuff from it and work through it. Then try and do something harder, and you will soon discover what you don't know and the real learning will start as you try to find the answer.

Currently I have a datarow that I need to itterate through, of which I have decided to use a foreach loop to retrieve my values. The trick is, I need to get the next row of values from the current row.
Any help would be appreciatied.
