Hi All
I am writing am app that I can call from the windows services recovery tab that emails me when the service fails.
At present I have a written a service that has a counter that has a 10 second delay that throws an exception.
But on testing the service it counts 10 ten sec's and crashes but never launches the test app from the service recovery tab (Notepad).
Is the unhandled exception the same as a service failing?
How do I write an app that crashes for testing?
IDEAS....
P.S. What is even more annoying is that if I was writing a service it would have heaps of errors to debug and now the apposite
Thanks

Take a look at dainel's article on exceptions:
Exception Best Practices[^]
It has a lot of good informaiton regarding general exception handling. Also a service should deal with the errors raised from within. In the case where an error is unhandled the domain error handler will attempt to catch it. You may wish to install a error handler in the System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException
Event. This can of course call your:

The article was interesting from a error handling point of view.
I was looking for the opposite, I need a service to fail the triggers the service recovery option and let's me run a program.
Thanks

Will your requirements allow you to start recovery process from within the service? Or does it have to be in a differnt app domain?

You will need to parse out the price range from the data you get.

You take a look at the complete data, see if you always will find the words "Price range:" in all of such pages that you want to view, and pick up the data from after the position of the string "Price range:".
You will need to look up functions to search for a substring with in a string and another for extracting a substring from another string.

I will have to suggest that you try writing the code on your own - I have already pointed out the functions you will need to use. If you still have problems with the code, post what you tried out here and I will try to help you.

Hi,
I would like to know how I can Add an Add-In (eg: a customized spell checker) to MSWord and PowerPoint.
Is there anyway we can make sure it works with all existing versions?
Thanks

"please help asap reply pls" is a meaningless header, it won't attract people who can help, especially when you want help on a third party control that most of us have not used. I would never buy a control that didn't offer support forums, is that what you've done here ?

yea i did buy the software.but the things that matter now is the solution to this problem. i couldnt possibly put any 2 or 3 combo box in a cell itself. any of you professionals that have experience with this particular tool could lead me into solving this problem?

Since you paid for it, why don't you ask Infragistics Support? I'd assume that they're the experts on the controls that they wrote.

I use Infragistics NetAdvantage suite and have found their support quick to respond and highly detailed to the point where I have asked a question and had the answer within a few hours complete with a sample app demonstrating the solution.

Create a windows service with a system timer control, which will trigger your email sending procedure at 6 PM.
Following are some good links for your easy reference

Kind of odd considering that's exactly what the Scheduler is for...
Your app with then have to be running 24 hours a day. This would probably require you to write your code as a Windows service. Your app would create a Threading Timer, NOT a Form's based Timer. Set it for 60 seconds. When the timer wakes your code up, just check the current time against the scheduled time, hour and minutes only, not seconds. When the two match, fire off your email code.
Or, you could skip the service crap and keep your code simple by not worrying about the timer. You've probably got it mostly written already. Then all you have to do is setup the launch job in the Windows Scheduler.
