I've just upgraded from Visual C++ 6 to Visual Studio 2005. I saw a new type of GUI designer tool called Windows Forms Application, apart from the old MFC. The former has a lot of features and looks more intuitive than the traditional MFC. However, the codes are loking pretty funnny to me. May I know whats the difference between MFC and WFA, in terms of pros and cons? Thanks.

The Windows Forms stuff is .net - hence the code looking different

You could try setting the security of your thread to higher than a normal users. But in the case of WinXP ( where most users are administrators ) you have little hope.
Another trick you could try is use a self re-start exe. Have 2 processes running, both monitoring each other, if one is closed, the other will restart it again.

I think you can find an article on the codeproject about task manager in this article you can see a good info about this object

In my application:-
1. I am gettting encrypted string from a 3rd party.
2. I am then providing these encrypted keys to my application through a form.
3. I am then decrypt these encrypted strings and use the information.
but the problem is i am not able to decrypt. But all the parameters (keylenght,block size,key) in 3rd party application (which generates the encrypted strings) and my application are same.
But if i decrypt the encrypted string in that 3rd party app, it would decrypt to correct values.
I am using CRijndael class for encryption/decryption.

Without seeing any code it's hard to say. But my first guess is ANSI UNICODE compatibility.

It seem as if the black hats are recruiting.
There are quite a lot of questions of this kind around.
"We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganised. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganising: and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress, while producing confusion, inefficiency and demoralisation."

There is hope as long as they ask that kind of questions!

Hi all,
I have a Embeded VC++ (4.0) application , which builds fine to run on a device having Win CE 4.2 , But when i try to build the same workspace to run on a device having Win CE 3.0. I get a "Platform Manager server failed error".
Do i need to do some configuration settings for the Platform Manager under Tools Menu?
What settings do i need to do?.
Thanks (in advance)

Hi gurus,
I am about to develop a new project and confused on which type I should use. Since I will NOT handle any file (serialization), I don't need Doc/View support.
In the past, I have always used dialog-based, but I have read comments in this forum regarding "avoid dialog-based, and go with CFormView SDI instead". I don't remember the reasons (but maybe related to serialization support and menu/hotkeys).
Also, I see that disabling Doc/View support means I cannot choose CFormView as my base class for the main view. (And since the main window will have a lot of controls, I don't want to create/arrange them in run time). Should I still go with SDI? Why some people seem really dislike dialog-based approach?
Thanks in advance for any comments/pointers.

You can use Serialization support in Dialog based applications too. So Serialization is not is selection criteria. First decide what your application is all about, the User entries requirements, etc and then select SDI or Dialog based.

OK, then what are the selection criterias usually used by others for deciding between SDI vs. dialog based?
My app is an inventory management using database, which I think can be done either way. (CRecordView doesn't fit my need, so CView-derived class is not a plus here).

Hi,
You have a MainFrame than, there-in you have a Client-Area. In this Client-Area you put a ( or more than one, in MDI ) CChildWnd derived Class ( a derived CMDIChildWnd-derived for MDI ).
In this Frame you put a View. You can arrange all controls by programmation. But you can also create
a Dialog in the Ressouce-Manager and create a class from it, there you choose CFormView.
Then you accord the View with the Frame and ready ...
I also don't use Doc's. I also don't use DocTemplates. I create each Child dynamicaly.
Greetings

Are you saying that I can create several CFormView's with different layout, then choose one of them on runtime?
|
|
|
|
|
I have create a Universal-Frame, which can be loaded with a specific View.
I self i switch different Views in i subcontrol ( a Tab-Control )
UniChild *NewChild = new UniChild("Customers"); // thats the call to open the child
in the constructor i test the String an if it's f.ex. "Customers" i create the view like this :
CCreateContext CC;
CC.m_pCurrentFrame = this;
CC->m_pNewViewClass = RUNTIME_CLASS ( FKundensucheView );
Act_View = DYNAMIC_DOWNCAST( CWnd, this->CreateView(&CC) );
But you can look here :
http://www.codeproject.com/docview/MultiView.asp
I use this method, it works and till now i don't have trouble
