Hi all,
What is the difference between satellite assemblies and web services. As both can be accessed over the Internet. Please tell me in detail. Thank you.

Well, a satellite assembly is a separate assembly that is loaded into the process space of a given process. A web-service will never be loaded into process space because it runs inside a web server.

The difference is, web services can 'be accessed over the internet'
This was my first hit when I googled 'satellite assembies'

Hi All,
I created a web project in Visual Studio 2005 but I don't know where to find the dll file of the project.
Anybody can help??
Thanks all

If you navigate to the web project directory, the DLL files are in the bin directory.

Following is the Error Message I get while installing Visual Studio 3.0 on the Vista
Regsvcs.exe- Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
Application has generated an Exception which could not be handled.
Process ID = 0xeac(3756) thread ID = 0xe34(3768)
Any body else facing this? I found one solution for this on Net which suggests some modification in registry, I want to avoid that.

Yes, you need to do what is reported on the web. The core issue with Vista is, you need to make sure you run programs like VS and installers as admin

Hi! Can anyone help me? For examlple i'm provide new property for some controls. Can I develop custom property editor for that extended property? If so, that the value i will recieve in overrided edit method?
This is because my extender component has internal collection of items. This Item must be assigned (or not) to some of controls. By the way, I need a drop down (or another) editor to manually select and assign item to extended control.
Thanks.

I've got to be honest. I always give answers that assume a minimal amount of intelligence, especially from someone who is obviously writing code for a job. It seems to me that you're always looking for people to tell you how to do your job, when you should be asking how to find the info you need. If you can't work out how to fill in a file that looks like this:
[ assembly: AssemblyTitle( "" ) ]
[ assembly: AssemblyDescription( "" ) ]
[ assembly: AssemblyCompany( "" ) ]
[ assembly: AssemblyProduct( "" ) ]
[ assembly: AssemblyCopyright( "" ) ]
[ assembly: AssemblyTrademark( "" ) ]
[ assembly: CLSCompliant( true ) ]
// Version information for an assembly consists of the following four values:
//
// Major Version
// Minor Version
// Build Number
// Revision
//
// You can specify all the values or you can default the Build and Revision Numbers
// by using the '*' as shown below:
[ assembly: AssemblyVersion( "6.1.8111.*" ) ]
or use google to find this info, then I'm not sure how you got a job writing code. The only thing I can see here that is not 100% self documenting, is that the * gets turned into a number by the runtime for you, but a simple trial and error would tell you that.

Does google not work where you live ?
side by side execution refers to different projects using different versions of the same dll. It works through the manifest file, which maps into folders in the WinSXS folder of windows.

What makes you think I'm going to write you a novel when the web is full of info on these topics ? Your questions are always broad, and easily answered by google. I tend to answer such questions only to the point of offering some more keywords, to help direct a google search.

Good habit to have. Another good habit to have, is google. If you want to learn 'completely', how is a full article or two going to fail to be better than a forum reply ?
If you asked 'I read about WinSXS, but what I don't understand is this ?', that would be different to 'please give me detailed information about this"
