Go to IIS, and find your application directory. Right click and choose PROPERTIES. Click the DIRECTORY SECURITY tab. Click EDIT and check the INTEGRATED WINDOWS AUTHENTICATION box. Also click on the ASP.NET tab and verify that the correct .NET version is selected.

Nothing works in C#, your code runs on the client, and so needs to be javascript, if it's to interact directly with a control. You can't make text underlined in a text box in the browser, there are controls that do it, but the basic textbox does not. This is also true for Windows forms, as it happens.
What exactly do you want to do ?

i m confused by the statement that nothing works in C# .. but it does allow me to write a code behind the button that i wana use on my asp.net page ....so y java script??

Your code behind runs on the server and can run business logic for you. But, C# code does not run on the client, javascript does. So, the interaction of form elements can be defined in C# only to the degree that the framework exposes C# properties which get turned into javascript code for you.

Hello All,
I know it is a primative question, But I am still scratching the surface..
I need to have a base page class for all my web pages, this page must have an instance to a DAL class to handle its DB requestes ...
How Can I achive that in a scalabel, clean way ...

Hi,
So i think you have already written a Data Access class. Just inherit that class from Page class. All the functionality of page class will be inherited. Now you can add classes, inherited from this new class (DAL), now having all the functionality of Page class and your Data access class.
Hope i understood you correctly.

The DAL is in a separate layer. You should not have a DAL class inherit from the Page class. The DAL is a separate class.
The structure should be:
class CommonApplicationPage : Page
{
protected TheDalClass dal;
}
class SpecificPage : CommonApplicationPage
{
}

You are correct,
Now, I guess I have to add other properities to this class, for example a class to handle the security another to handle the localization , etc ...
what do you think !!
Thanks, Best Regards

Sounds good.
Your applications common base page class (i.e. the one that inherits from Page) will have various properties and methods that help with security, configuration, data access and so on as needed. Much of this functionality will probably be abstracted away in separate classes (like the DAL). e.g. You might just have a property that exposes the DAL object to the inherited classes so they may use it also.

Hi all
I have a datagrid, which holds item name, item price, and its image(all from SQL Server database), what I need is when the user clicks on the image, I need the (id) for the item to be carried to the new page where I want to show more details about the item (expiry date, ...)

Hi
You can add an imagebutton in the template column and set its ImageURL to the image you wish to display.
Then, set the imagebutton's CommandName to the itemID and in its Click event, use the commandname as querystring to navigate to another page and display that id's details...
Hope it helps you..

Vsree has said a nice way, we have one more way using html controls. use a anchor tag and inside that use the image tag, set the image src to the image path and href of anchor tag to the redirection path. if you use this way, no need of writting any code to the page.
but you have to use the template column any how.
cheers

Hi, I am building a web form in which i need to create a temporary table in database when the page loads.I store the intermediate results in the table and delete the table when the browser window is closed.
I tried writing creation and deletion of table using stored procedures in global.asax.cs in Application_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e) and Application_End(Object sender, EventArgs e) but it acts wierd.i.e it some times works and sometimes not.
Pls help me and suggest any other way if any.Thanks in advance.

You're not going to find a way to delete a table when the browser is closed. Well, you may be able to trigger something with javascript, but I'd look to improve the design. Why do you need to creat temporary tables ?

I am using the temp table for employee search. Initially i create a temp table,fill it with all employees and then work out on each emp search condition selected by user such as grade,dept and keeping only those tuples which satisfy the condition and delete all other and show the results in a datagrid.At the end when the user logs out or closes the window the table should be deleted. I appreciate ur concern but i can`t change the design.
