You have a using statement for the namespace ? Or you scope it directly ?

Hi!
You can create a DLL in VS.net 05 by simply creating a new project then choose the 'Class Library' project.
Then, you can now code your functions or sub in this library.

I have a windows forms project, in which I need tooltips to display extra information. So, I want tooltips can be displayed as long as the mouse hovered over the control. How can I do that?
Thanks

I think your only opportunity is to register to the MouseEnter and MouseLeave event of the control and inside the event handlers call the ToolTip.Show or ToolTip.Hide method, respectively.

Hi,
I have done some custom tooltip stuff (inspired by some CodeProject articles),
with a lot of SendMessage, but I am not aware of any TTM_xxx message to specify the ON time,
so mine too disappear after some 5 seconds.

Coders... I have assembled a basic TreeView with several nodes. When I add icons using the ImageList class, the icons are not displaying correctly. It appears as if the icons are not transparent yet when used in the Tool Bar or Menu Bar they appear correctly. They look all fuzzy and/or blotchy no matter what size or depth the icon is that is applied.
Thoughts or ideas?

Have you set the ImageList.ColorDepth property to ColorDepth.Depth32Bit ? Also, are the images the same size as the ImageList.ImageSize property?

Thanks for the info, I re-reviewed the settings and then like a ton of bricks it hit me... I was trying to use 32x32 and 24x24 icons. When I got some 16x16 icons they worked perfect... brain process overflow, should have caught that right away.
Code On...

Hi, I have a loop that is populating label controls from a Datatable. If I simple bind the datarow to the labels' Text property, when I update the Datatable I expected the changes to be reflected in the label. This is true if I bind the the table directly.
...<br />
templabel.DataBindings.Add("Text", dt.Rows[i], "state");<br />
...
...<br />
templabel.DataBindings.Add("Text", dt, "state");<br />
...
Thanks!

Hi!
I was wondering how to write update and insert queries for two table simultaneously. I'm getting some rows from two table with OUTER JOIN LEFT into one dataset. The second table has a primary key which is a row from the first one and their must be a value in the first table. So second table gives me mostly NULLs value and that's okey. But I can't add a record to second table if I firsty don't add particular value into first one. Right now I'm able to insert and update data, but I would like to right single query.
PS. Sorry for my English.

Hard to understand without an example.
Sounds to me like you need to use a stored procedure with as many parameters as necessary to do work. This could then do any CRUD on parent table necessary and then appropriate CRUD to child table.
Another alternative (may not fit as I don't know your structures) is to create method on dataset that can be called to do updates. This method would do appropriate call to parent table for modified record(s) and then do appropriate calls to child table for modified record(s).
I did something similar to the second answer but had to add additional code to support transactions within the code generated for the typed dataset. I could genericize my code and post it if it might be helpful.
Thanks,

Firstable thank you for fast reply.
I just find out that it's impossible to a column in my bigger table is in the second one is a record with the same PK.
Tables looks like this. First one has more then 10 column, but it isn't necessary. I has a primary key so let's call it ID. The second table is much smaller and has additional data. And it has the same primary key column which is foreign key as the same time. I noticed that I cannot modify this column in neither of those tables if it exists in both...

The better design would be the following if you can go that way.
Table1
=========
Id - PK
Data1
Data2
...
Table2
=========
Id - PK
Table1Id - FK
AddlData1
AddlData2
...
Thanks,

I don't know if I can or should change the database. Next time I'll ask if this ID column will be modify if not there's no problem

Hi Guys
How to set a description for a property in a class? I have found some articiles talking about method description using summary tag. summary.../summary. But it doesn't seem to be working for properties.
Can any one help me on this?
Thanks in advance.
Muthu.

Muthu
You do use the summary tag. This is an example:
public int Id
{
get { return _id ; }
set { _id = value; }
}
the last thing I want to see is some pasty-faced geek with skin so pale that it's almost translucent trying to bump parts with a partner - John Simmons / outlaw programmer
Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

I'm sorry. I didn't mention that it is for intellisense description.
I tried both ///summary and System.ComponentModel
I didn't get intellisense description in both cases.
Thanks
Muthu.

The properties shown by Visual Designer are not from the /// tags, but from
the Description attribute, which is unfortunate, since this makes me write
the same thing twice, as in:
using System.ComponentModel; // Category, Description
/// <summary>
/// Gets or sets the initial color of the overlay.
/// Use Color.Transparent to make it always transparent, or
/// some opaque color to get the scratch functionality.
/// </summary>
[Category("ScratchPanel"), Description("Gets of sets the initial color of the overlay. "+
"Use Color.Transparent to make it always transparent, or "+
"some opaque color to get the scratch functionality.")]
public override Color ForeColor {
...
}
