Try:

This will match the version attribute with a result of: version="1.0"
I'm sure you will want to make this more generic.

Off the top of my head:
\<?xml version="(?<version>[0-9]\.[0-9])"
Remember to escape out anything needed for a string (e.g. the \ and ")
When you get your Match object back from the regular expression you'll find in the Groups collection an item keyed "version". this will be the version number.

I am working on an application, in which I have to draw a lot of diagram (almost 500000 rectangles) on the screen and link them through line. Yes. Register a handler for the button and extract the text from the textbox and insert it into your database using whatever method is appropriate for you.

Aloha,
Our poor users doesn't have the rights necessary to access files in the program files dir, so we need to move a few configuration files to their "documents and settings" folder.
Accessing it from the program is easy: Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.LocalApplicationData), but how do we create some example files when the user install our program.
For each of the files in the setup project we can set a folder, but documents and settings is not an option (we can only choose between: application folder, user's desktop and user's programs menu.
Any idea how we tell the installer that we want to write our files to the user's documents and settings folder?

I think the way it's typically done is put them in the application folder. Then, default the install location to the user's documents and settings area somewhere.
Come to think of it, the standard way it's done is this: install almost always requires an administrator. However, running your software should not require an administrator. For example, installing the .NET framework requires an admin, but running any of the .NET framework tools or running .NET applications do not require an admin. So, if that's an option for them, install the software as an admin, run the software as limited user.

Hello,
I have a crystal report that I use to print a customized bill format (I managed the special locations of the feilds to match the actual bill data locations), without displaying it to the user.
My question is how can I make the database path valid to any system while i can show the data fields in thier proper locations to match the actual bill paper?

yes an Access database.
I added the access database to my crystal report and located the feilds as it is on the actual form and the printing result is great. But how can I make the program dynamicly find the database for the crystal report if I installed it on the user system?

As the subject says, I need to change the column width in a DataGrid. The problem is that I'm using .net framework 1.1 (Visual Studio 2003). The code is this:
this.dataGrid.DataSource = myDataTable;
//here should come something like: this.dataGrid.Columns["Col1"].Width = 0 or whatever
It's driving me crazy... I can't seem to find a collection of columns...
And another thing: is there a way to set some auto sizing propery for all columns to fit the DataGrid? In VS 2005 that's set easily, but in VS 2003... I just can't seem to find it...

go for method like this....
private void datagrid_itemdatabound(object sender, system.web.ui.webcontros.datagrideventars e)
{

e.items.cells[column number].width= value;
....
}
and for the datagrid events write this method name for itemdatabound event.

Ok, I solved it... After you set the DataSource property, you have to create a TableStyle, and DataGridColumnStyles. Each column style has to be mapped to a DataColumn from DataTable, and there you can set Width property... So that's it...
Still haven't figured out how to auto size the columns so that they fit into the grid...

I have been told to write a windows service which 'periodically' checking for messages and application updates from the web service.
The user has the choice to download updates and messages automatically or to be prompted to download them when they are available.
Note: A Message may contain documents.
Now my question is is it the right approach to do this using a windows service or windows app/form.
Please help me out on this.

I would say a windows forms application that sits quietly in the system tray until it needs to tell the user something. When there is no user logged into the system a windows service will have no one to tell, so its continual checking would be redundant.
