How can i tell compiler to treate TCHAR as WCHAR.
|
|
|
|
|
#define UNICODE, and TCHAR will become WCHAR.
That's what TCHAR is for.

But how can i do as at run time.
Actually i want my program enable for unicode and ascii.
So i have to decide at run time what TCHAR should (WCHAR or CHAR ?)

The whole point of TCHAR is to allow you to write code which can, at compile time, use ANSII or UNICODE, depending on the #define.
You can't decide at run time, unless you write a templated class that switches between the two. Or, you can use bstr_t, it swaps between them and is agnostic, whereas TCHAR is compile time agnostic.

Can you tell me why you need to use both? Perhaps there is an alternative.

Actually my program is to extract message from a file that can be unicode or ascii.

I see. The choose either a UNICODE or ANSI build and make good use of MultiByteToWideChar() and WideCharToMultiByte(). Another point to note is with the TCHAR macros, VS defines _UNICODE but TCHAR expects UNICODE. Add this before your #include <tchar.h>
#ifdef _UNICODE
#define UNICODE
#endif

but this work only for compile time .but whenever i sacn the file then i have to decide unicode or ascii.How can i do this
