Hi,
I'm wanting to detect (on a mouse move) whether the mouse is over a popup menu (for which I have a handle). Does anyone have any ideas about how to go about finding the size and position of a menu on the screen, or even just doing a hit test? I cannot find anything in any documentation, but am probably looking in the wrong place!!!
thx

While using 'DLL' created with 'VC++' in VB i am getting an error "Bad DLL calling convention".
Is it the problem with declaration of Calling conventions in vc++?
How to avoid it?
|
|
|
|
|
I don't know VB, but you need to export the function with the calling convention that VB uses. Since the default in VC is __cdecl, I imagine the right convention is __stdcall. For example:
extern "C" __declspec(dllexport) void __stdcall MyFunc() {}
(The order of the tokens may be off - I never can remember which one goes where.)

I feel a little sheepish asking this but could anybody pl. write an easy to follow beginners article on using source control. E.g. I'm a student developer who rarely uses source control at home for code and stuff cause I think I'll get a heartburn going through documentation. Show me the easy way out + tips and tricks for easy usability.
Thanks a bunch.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get some kind of system id from a PC. I've looked at:
- GetVolumeInformation to get the hard-drive serial number but this is often the same if drives are ghosted from the same image.
- Netbios to get the MAC Address of the Ethernet Adapter. The problem is that Microsoft says that this "does not work reliably on Windows 95 or Windows 98".
Thanks,
Raed

Heres the deal,
Marketing want's a web view (IWebBrowser2) in a property page of a wizard in my app (piece of cake).
The web page to be displayed will contain a FORM section with a bunch of yet-to-be-determined input controls with a "hidden" submit button - they want the data to be sent when some other control outside the IWebBrowser2 is activated (the apply button).
The big question is - how do I programaticaly "click" on the submit button?
1) Is there a way to directly access the submit functionality with ease?
2) Or do I need to enum all the items and data in the FORM section and compose a custom IWebBrowser2::Navigate call?
Thanks for any help.

I have created two exes(MFC).I am posting a pointer to the structure thro' PostThreadMessage
from one exe
(struct message
{
int messageid;
CString messagedescription;
};
the members are initialized
)
The other exe should receive the pointer posted by the thread from other exe & it should display the member values.But, in my case the structure is getting posted successfully !But, I am getting some junk values in the receiving exe.
How can I get the desired values, then ?

You can't pass data between different programs like that. Each program has its own address space, and pointers in one app don't make sense in another app.
Either switch to WM_COPYDATA or use memory-mapped files.

There is more way to share data between 2 or more apps.
Write a simple dll and set the variable you want to share as followed:
#pragma data_seg("shared")
int x=0;
#pragma data_seg()
#pragma comment(linker,"/SECTION:shared,RWS")
if you add this to a dll the variable x will be readable from all apps using this dll. if more than one process will write to x you should not forget synchronisation.
BEWARE: Shared data must be init !!!
This works not with dynamic variables !
Hope that helps - Mario
P.S.: Sharing pointers via PostMessage has only worked under win 3.x !

You cannot pass pointers from one process to another. Each process has its own address space, so a pointer in process A points to process A's address space. Process B cannot access any data in process A. The simpliest way to resolve this is to write the data to a file that can be read by process B. Another way may be for process A to put the data into the clipboard and process B to extract it. There are other ways but much more complicated and involves advanced COM+ programming.;)

Hello Everyone,
I have a problem. I have a Web Browser control embedded in a dialog. Now when i drop a file on this control it opens the file. What i want is doing custom handling for this like putting an icon for these files which when double clicked should open the files. Actually i have to make this dialog behave like the "Compose Message" dialog in Outlook.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how this could be done ?
Thanks a lot for any help,
Regards,
Abhi.

Two things to try. (This is just speculation - I haven't tried it myself.) 1. Register your dialog as a drop target and see if this overrides the WB control's drag and drop handling. 2. If the WB control still responds to drops, call RevokeDragDrop() and pass the HWND of the WB control.

Hi,
I am trying to put together what needs to be distributed as part of the install software. I am wondering if customers who use our program that accesses MDB files via ADO needs to have MS Access purchased installed on their machine or not? If they do need to have MS Access installed to use our program, then that would severely limit the customers that we could sell the software to since many of them don't have MS Access.
Also, what happens if the user does have MS Access but has a different version from the one that we distribute (e.g. they have MS Access 97 and we distribute a MS Access 2000 MDB). Is the only sol'n to that is to either distribute different versions of MS Access depending on what they have installed, or have ADO recreate the database?
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
I'm currently writing an application: the user creates a (one or more) layout, and he/she can place one or more 'text-objects' on this layout. These text-objects are (at this moment) CRichEditCtrl's. I derived my own class from CRichEditCtrl, in which I do some neat stuff (like transparency etc). So far so good.
A (very) nice feature to have in this application would be the ability to rotate these textobjects. Which means, in fact, I have to rotate the CRichEditCtrl itself, since CRichEditCtrl doesn't work with CFont/HFONT (Otherwise, I probably could do something with escapement). Does anyone knows a way to do this?
There are probably some library's that'll do it for me, but I want to stick with CRichEditCtrl. (Unless you know a _very_ good library that does all other cool stuff like word-wrapping as well).
Thanks for reading, I hope you can help me!
