Sometimes colleagues send us resumes in Word generated HTML. So that we can put in on our site. But it's very hard to make the HTML look like we want it to. For every single tag, Word puts individual style tags and a lot of complicated mshtml stuff too. We usually copy paste into notepad and then reformat it manually, which is easier than editing Word-html

OK.. if you like annoying the Editors you coudl do that

I don't think Word is the best alternative. Looking at the submission guidelines even plain txt is preferred..
Download the template and copy/paste if you don't know HTML. It should be rather simple, and you will probably learn the basics of HTML in the process.

You dont need to know complicated HTML for that. It'll take you about 20 mins to understand the basics of HTML. That's all you'll need. Or you can use Frontpage XP. Or Frontpage 2000.

VS.NET has a decent HTML editor
So does Mozilla (and this is a free download)
Neither require you to know HTML (though it doesn't hurt).

I absolute *LOVE* FrontPage Express.
It's dead simple and free.
I use a lot to make gobs of html
files for little one-off tasks.
It came with a MS package a while
ago, and I copy it around when I
need it. Anyone got a link to DL
it all legit and all?
I sure hope it's still given away.

Anyone got any samples?

Can I get a sample code for converting a sequence of .bmp files into an avi file ?

Try to look into DirectShow SDK (it's a part of DirectX SDK from directx 8v0)
by path: "Microsoft Platform SDK\Samples\Multimedia\DirectShow\Editing\StillCap\"
In example you can find how to convert video stream to number of BMP files... process can be reversed: write own source filter which take as a source directory in which stored bitmap files. Then filter will create a stream of frames (25 bitmaps per second - or any other number of bitmaps ... For more details study please DirectShow SDK

I'd like to see someone do a "simple" explanation of the purpose and use of the safearray. I understand it's needed in COM with IDispatch for VB clients or something like that but don't really understand why or how to really use it.

Did somebody say COM, quick someone call Michael Dunn to the rescue.

I have an instance of a class heirarchy populated with data that I want to write to a file so that it can be instantly read back into memory the next time the program is run. Is there a fast way to do this, or do I have to painstakingly iterate through the whole tree and write every item to the file one at a time? The class has subclasses that go four levels deep with about 10 or 12 different vectors in each level. PLEASE tell me there's an easy way to do this!

I didn't entirely understand that tutorial. It looks like I'll be iterating through the whole structure after all.
Thanks for your help, anyway.

Have each node be responsible for writing itself to an Archive (presuming you're suing MFC), then in that node's save method, have it call it's children's save methods, so that you only have to iterate the root level nodes (or node).
