Yes that is what it is designed for.
Use the configurator to attach to the backend Access db then try and run some code againist it.
You might be better of with SQL express 2005 if your target server can handle it.

Hey guys.
I was wondering if it is possible to join two tables from different databases together.
Here is what I want to do:
TableAdapter1 would get data from file AccessDB1, from Table1.
TableAdapter2 would get data from file AccessDB2, from Table2.
Once this is done, I want to join/merge/connect the two tables together in a new DataTable in memory and be able to query this new table.
An example of what I want to do is this:
I have two Access files. The first contains Table1 that has a date column and a value column. The second Access file contains Table2 that has a date column and an exchange rate column.
What I want to do is to produce a new table in memory (i.e. Datatable) that will contain a date column, a value column, and exchange rate column, AND a new column ExchangedValue that will contain the results of value column * exchange rate column.
Can this be done? The concern here is the fact that the two tables where taken from different database files.
Thanks and regards..

you can do this in SQL Server, even on differet db servers if you setup a linked server.
select * from
salesdb.dbo.customers inner join customer.dbo.customer
on salesdb.dbo.customers.id inner join customer.dbo.customers.id
Hope this helps

from SQL Enterprise Manager select the database right click
1. select "All tasks"
2. select "restore database"
3. From the "General" tab ...
4. select "FromDevice" option
5. click on "SelectDevices..." to borwse and select the backup
6. go to "Options tab"
7. if the path under "Moive to Physical file name" is pointing to another folder than the actual folder change the same (other wise thros err stating "Move ... Physical file ...." some thing like this"
8. also you can select "Force restore over existing database"

From Enterprise Manager
do backUp Database
and restore but with another name and in option tab do the right location.
Take ofline and Bring on line is not such great idea.
backup and restore is option for such task
