Hi All,
I'm facing a problem with the page postback.
Its like....I have a treeview control whose first three levels are populating on page load. The next levels are being populated on “treeview_treenodeexpanded” event ,based on certain criteria .But each time we expand it the page gets posted back, as it is the case. I want the postback to be blocked somehow and the tree nodes need to be populated on expand event only.
Is AJAX a solution for this? If so, how to implement this?
I hope someone can help me out with this.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Jeeva

The “treeview_treenodeexpanded” event is server-side so therefor a postback is required for this event to fire.
The treeview has a built in Ajax-style feature that populates child nodes without a postback. To use it you have to set the PopulateOnDemand property of nodes to true.
However this will only work with the TreeNodePopulate event, not TreeNodeExpanded . You would have to change the populating code to use that event instead.

how to create pdf file using ASP.Net without third party tools or components?

use crystal report. you can export crystal reports datasource to pdf

You can't without a component at the moment. One way around it may be to use the Office 2K7 object model (but that's still a separate component)

Hi Friends,
I am developing a website to watch online movies. User needs to call a number to view movie (A company provide service to check whether user is connected to line or not They will call a script that will save or delete record in the database when user connects or disconnects phone line).
The only think which I need is that I need to run a script that checks database after every 5 or 10 seconds whether user record exists or not. I know it is possible to 'Refresh' page after certain time but my client doesn't want to do like this. I am using (c# or vb.net) and Access database for this. I am struggling in it so waiting desperately for your reply.

It will be really nice if you give me some code for that.

Would you please stop asking the same question over and over and over and over and over again, at least until you have read the replies that you already have gotten.

You can simply use an AJAX timer that manage the hidden postbacks that check if the record exist, interrupts the video.
AJAX timer is a component of Microsoft AJAX framework (Atlas) and it's completely freeware.

I'm using VS.NET 2005 running on Vista.
The issue pertains to being able to upload large files in an ASP.NET application when using IIS 7.0
My Web.config file for my application I have:
maxRequestLength="200000"
However when uploading large files (I've tried with a 150MB file) I get this error from IIS 7.0:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Server Error in Application "Default Web Site"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTTP Error 404.13 - Not Found
Description: The request filtering module is configured to deny a request that exceeds the request content length.
Error Code: 0x00000000
Notification: BeginRequest
Module: RequestFilteringModule
Requested URL: http://localhost:80/Admin/encryption.aspx
Physical Path: F:\VistaDocuments\Visual Studio 2005\WebSites\QuizEngine\Admin\encryption.aspx
Logon User: Not yet determined
Logon Method: Not yet determined
Handler: PageHandlerFactory-Integrated
Most likely causes:
Request filtering is configured on the Web server to deny the request because the content length exceeds the configured value.
What you can try:
Verify the configuration/system.webServer/security/requestFiltering/requestLimits@maxAllowedContentLength setting in the applicationhost.config or web.config file.
More Information... This is a security feature. Do not change this feature unless the scope of the change is fully understood. You can configure the IIS 7.0 server to reject requests whose content length is greater than a specified value. If the request's content length is greater than the configured length, this error is returned. If the content length requires an increase, modify the configuration/system.webServer/security/requestFiltering/requestLimits@maxAllowedContentLength setting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Server Version Information: Internet Information Services 7.0.
thanks in advance

Can Anybody please tell me the way to manipulate .Net controls like dropdown lists, textboxes, datagrids etc using the javascripts. You can use document.getElementById["id"] to get the DOM element for the control. The problem is you need to know the client ID of the controls which in all but the simplest cases will not be the same as you set server-side. There are various methods for doing this and a couple of articles on CodeProject. The easiest way is to push all controls client IDs as Javascript variables at render time (by traversing the tree and outputting a load of 'var MyControlId = "clientid";'

You can not manipulate asp.net controls with Javascript, as the controls doesn't exist in the browser at all.
The only thing that exists is the html elements that the controls render. Those can be manipulated as any html elements.
Use the ClientID property of a control to find out the id that the rendered html element will get.

It looks pretty easy. use controls attribute.add method to add javascript evnets to asp.net controls.
suppose dropdown list name is drp then write the following in page load
<br />
drp.Attributes.add("onchange","YourJSFunction();");<br />
write control visibility change in YourJSFunction();. It could be some thing like this
function YourJSFunction()
{
document.getElementById("TxtId").style.display = "none";
}

Man its not working
