As far as I know, only Rectange(F) class has "Contains" method to indicate that a point is inside it or not.
Now I want to find the point inside an ellipse and other shape, is C# support it or we have to implement some argorithym to find out.
Thanks for your help.

hi
you can create a Region that describes your ellipse. the Region - object has a Contains (or something similar) function.

I have a Windows Form Application and I was wondering how to store a user defined variable from a textbox in Form1 and then use the variable in Form2. I am not able to do this. How it will be done?

make variable public or public static .

in my opinion
save the varible and create a property

We have added a user control as an editor in the DataGridView by declaring a class and adding it as a column to the grid. The class is a custom datagrid column implementing the user control which contains a textbox for editing.
When we type characters in this textbox, certain characters are not captured (e.g. lower-case q, dollar sign, exclamation and decimal point).
Has anyone come across this issue or anything similar?

I made a custom ImageButton web control. All I need now is to know how to make a passable OnCliok event. I want it to be just like a normal Button.
Ex.
<asp:button id="btnButton" onclick="btnButtonClick" runat="server">
But I want mine to have that same structure. Delegates as far as I have seen are the exact opposite of what I want.
I am making this so it can be used for more than just my current use. I don't know what the method the button is going to call will look like. Having it take (object sender, and ImageButtonEventArgs e) is an option for parameters.
I give all the information to weave out the wrong responses, and do not expect the code to be written for me. I have been trying for days with no luck as I have very little experience with custom controls, and only consider myself an intermediate programmer.
Thanks for your help!

I got it! Thanks Guffa. I read a post Guffa wrote on the ASP.NET forums and it set me on the right track and I got it! A week of trying things I'm not familiar with and I got it!
Can you tell I am happy?

I was checking some stuff in a groupbox, like this:
foreach(Control Thing in this.groupBox9.Controls) {
MessageBox.Show(Thing.GetType().ToString());
}
The groupbox contains two radio buttons, 4 checkboxes, and a normal button.
I got 2 messages saying "System.Windows.Forms.RadioButton",
4 Saying "System.Windows.Forms.CheckBox",
and another saying "System.Windows.Forms.Button". Pretty obvious right?
And then i got a final one that just had the number 7 in it. What is that?
|
|
|
|
|
That is the message box that you put there first and forgot to remove, that shows the number of items in the Controls collection:
MessageBox.Show(this.groupBox9.Controls.Count);
Isn't it?

I wish. 'tis very odd.
Why not try it? Just create a form, a group box, and shove some stuff in it. See if you get the extra message box.
|
|
|
|
|
I tried it. I don't get any extra message box.

Hmm, i just moved the code from a button click (the button in the groupbox) to the forms OnLoad event, i no longer get the message. Must just be one of those wierd things.
|
|
|
|
|
It was from the click of the button in the group box that I ran the code also, so that is not the cause of the extra message box.
Move the code back and see if the extra message box comes back or not. I still think that there is something in my original theory...

Hmm, it doesn't do it now. I am confused.
And i never checked how many controls where in the groupbox in the first place. Infact, i've never used Controls.Count ever.

I have written a service that will be run on mutiple computers connected to the same network. However if the service is already running on one computer I don't want it to run on the other computers.
Does anybody know if this is possible?

Most things are possible given enough time and resources.
The problem is that you will have independent processes running on independent machines that know nothing of each other. Somehow you have to get them to know about each others run status. The most common way of doing this is for them to connect to and query a server. This server can keep track of which computer is currently running the service.
Hopefully that helps.

Thank you very much. Your post was most helpful.
I created a table in the database that has one column called Running which I set to N. When the service first starts up it queries this table. If N is returned the service sets it to Y and it can start. If Y i returned the service cannot start. When the service which is running stops, it sets the row back to N.

Hi,
I'm using MSVS 2005 .N_ET 2.0
Seems that one should use datagridview instead of datagrid?
I have a MS Access database and in that db a table called Cancelled which
contains colums in order [Employee,Booker,Tele,CancelDate,Reason] and i have no problem
writing data to this db.
Here is what i want to do:
1. If i click some button, a window appear with a datagridview object in it containing
the whole database row by row.
2. What i have trouble doing is reading the database so all information is displayed in the
datagridview object.
Since i use OleDbConnection to my db i looked into the OleDbAdapter.fill method that reads into a dataset. I've also tried to drop from the toolbox a dgv object onto the window and tried to bind datasource and all that came with it like connectionstring(that went totally wrong), but i didn't think i knew what i was doing
I think my problem is very easy to solve ? I think i can build the dgv object's structure and simply read all records from the database and then insert records one by one in some manor..
But since i'm new to this i would like some starting point if someone can help me?
Thanks from Daniel, Sweden
