Also, it is very easy to change the location of a database so relying on default folders is unwise. This is why my answer showed how to retrieve the location of the database files.

Good afternoon. I have a VB 6.0 app using ADO 2.7 to access SQL Server 2000. I have a nText field that holds Cyrillic text in which the data looks correct when viewing it in Query Analyzer. When retrieving the data via an ADO 2.7 recordset and looping through the records, the data appears as ???? in the recordset object itself. It appears the issue is the fact that ADO is not translating/recognizing the Cyrillic text, but I have read that ADO 2.7 is Unicode compatible. I have seen other posts with similar questions on various boards, but I have yet to come across an answer. If anyone can help with this situation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys,
I need a hand with the following.
I need to write a stored proc that accepts a parameter that contain multiple values.
i.e
alter proc spGetLastNames
@Firstnames varchar(200)
as
Select lastname from user where firstname in(@Names)
@Firstnames should be able to accept a comma delimited string i.e 'Frank', 'Peter', 'William'
I am pondering whether to use XML to pass the Parameters, do you think this would be viable?

Hi I have 3 tables, one is master table( EMP) and other two are child tables (Emp_Dep and Emp_Jone).
Example:
EMP
EmpId Name
1 ABC
2 XYZ
Emp_Dep
EmpId DepId
1 2
Emp_Jone
EmpId JoneId
1 4
I have created these 3 tables and defined Relation objects between these three tables.
My problem is the order of updating in my application,
Case1:
If I update the tables in Emp_jone, Emp_Dep and Emp order, I am getting “constrain failed” exception, when I have add a new employee and linked with a Department and Jone. This would be resolved if I update in Emp, Emp_Jone and Emp_Dep order
Case2:
If I deleted an existing employee, who has been liked with some Department and jone, and I update in Emp, Emp_Jone and Emp_Dep, I will get same constrain failed exception, to resolve this I will have to update as specified in Case1 order.
Could you please give me some suggestion to resolve this without any intermediate updates?

I need to be able to provide 3 different sorting options to the user.
1 . Price Asc
2. Price Desc
3. Date added Asc
Now I can't find away of providing this criteria.
At the moment the options are available to the user on screen via option buttons. I don't really want supply SQL code in the HTML of the page i.e
I would prefer to pass an integer value through to the stored proc, and let the case clause handle it.
I have tried puttin Price Asc in the case clause, but SQL complains.
is there any other way of doing this?

should i install sql server in that machine?
In other words " Is it necessary to install sql server on client machine , if application use sql server as back end." if not please tell me solution.

If your application is using the same system as database server you have to. If not you can specify remote server address where SQL server resides.

Yes You can.... Download install creator. Using this you can create packages. Package your application along with sql server setup. In install maker you can configure the setup to wait untill the installation of SQL server finishes before starting installing your program. After that Use SQL scripts to create database and tables.
