Is this VB6 ? If not, you should not use msgbox or Instr, you should use the .NET methods provided, such as string.Contains and MessageBox.show.

Hi,
I know what I am asking is simple and u all probably did it before, but I have a delivery time within 2 hours and I am so confused from the varies things I tried to do so Please help:
I have a web service that returns a Dataset with Values, I access this DataSet successfully in a VB Application, all I need is to pass these Values to Crystal report ( that's All!!)
Guys, Please send me a very detailed solution as I am confused and under stress.

Hi,
Yes it is Helpful, but my problem is I can't connect normally to the dataBase as this example , I use the web service so I am unable to choose the table from the connection.
I tried to connect to Web service from the Dataset but I don't see my Dataset there.

Hi,
I have a Dataset coming from the web service but I can 't set it to the Crystal normally by dataConnection because I have no access to the sql Server ( I access it by Web service)
So If I simply create an empty Crystal report and Set My DataSource to it as below:
Dim MYReport As Crystal = New Crystal
MYReport.SetDataSource(EmployeeStatusDataSet) 'dataset have values
Me.CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = MYReport
An error appears no tables in Report.
Hope I made it clear this time.

You need to design the Crystal Report first. If you can't access the SQL directly, you can use some other datasource to "fake" the tables, such as an access database, xsd(?). Design the CR, then set the datasource to the dataset.

Surely if it's possible to do this, then the documentation that came with the unit is the place to start ? You've not even told us which port it connects to, let alone the nature of the unit. Not that I know the first thing about these things, but it seems to me that if you provide more info, you're more likely to find someone who does.

There's all sorts of ways to do this. Do you want the user to have to call you in order to use the product ? Does the program have to work when the user is not connected to the web ?
Do you realise that because it's VB.NET, whatever you put in place can easily be removed by anyone with a decompiler ?

i dont want user to get connectd into web
i dont have any idea to make users to enter the key given to him while installing
please give me a idea and if u can some steps to do
we can use any cryptography algorithms to generate a key but hoe to embed it so user will enter it while installation
if i am correct those things will be related with registry
i dont have any idea pls provide some help

i did a simple socket programming between client server communication.
this is where a client ask a server the GMT time of other countries, and
the server will return the local time of that particular country.
but now, i was asked to modify that codes for downloading files from a server.
So, now my question is,
how to implement client server download using socket programming?

You must already know enough about sockets in order to request and send time information. Just extend that knowledge to send entire files rather than a few bytes of time information.
If you still need help, then please be more specific about what you are stuck with.

I am trying to insert data directly from datagridview control.
I have captured dataentry errors by handling datagridview dataerror event.
But when i insert duplicate value in the primary key; this event doesnot get fired.
My code is from MSDN and goes like this:
Private Sub dataGridView1_DataError(ByVal sender As Object,ByVal e As DataGridViewDataErrorEventArgs)Handles dataGridView1.DataError

There is probably a better way to code this. For example, if you are using a DataView as your DataSource. You can use the RowFilter property to figure out if the value already exists.
So if you have a DataSet and the first Table is what you are binding to.
dim dv as DataView = yourDataSet.Tables[0].DefaultView
dv.RowFilter = "yourcolumn = "+ yournewvalue
If dv.Count > 0 Then
'You have found a value that already exists...
End If
Otherwise you probably need to check for errors / exceptions on your insert into your dataset. I think that is where the errors would be happening.
The only other thing I can think of is that the primary key isn't set up right in your dataset. That is the column that is set up to be the primary key must have the AllowDBNull property set to false and the Unique property set to true.

I am now creating a vb.net windows form manually by creating textfiles and rename it to vb.net extension(eg. .vb, .Designer.vb and .resx).
Do there have a way to load this form from any path(location) without needing to add or include this form into the project solution?

Where do you want to load it from ? I don't think you can create a form class without a solution, although you can create web apps that way.

Let say I have a form Form1(include in solution), when I click a button 'Create' in Form1, it will create 3 textfile(Form2.vb, Form2.designer.vb, Form2.resx) on the fly which is Form2(not include in solution) located in the same location of Form1.
How do I dynamically load Form2, since Form2 is not included in solution?

My window application calling a web service to process data. so, if i process little data only, it run perfectly, but if i run around more data, it pop up a message : The operation is timed out", how i solve this problem ? any coding can make solve this problem?

When you create the web service in your windows or web app there is a Timeout property that you can set. It is in miliseconds, so 1 second = 1000. I think if you change this to a larger value you won't get a timeout.

it will select all the records having year 2006 nad month 3 depending upon clolumn DATE.
